A call out to find the perfect a/w loafers....

Am trying to complete my collection of absolute staples. Come to think of it it could be the start of a capsule!

Navy wool pea coat, slim ankle grazers or a mini skirt with black opaque tights and I need the perfect loafers.

I've come to realise what I really want it quite a high vamp. I think it makes it more comfortable anyway but I prefer the look.

I like a little bit of an androgynous style so not too delicate, but not hugely chunky, not matte leather or suede, not patent, but a nice sheeny glossy leather would be perfect.

I keep coming back to Dr martens adrian, I like them but I'm not sure all those tassles wouldn't end up all curly.

I don't have a huge budget for Russell and Bromley, but I do want them to be high enough quality to last.
I tried the orinoco 2 from clarks but something is off for me. I like the simple bar (not too blingy) but the front is definitely too low.
Anyone any ideas?

I know I’m resurrecting an older thread but can I ask, with the DMs are they very narrow? I have wide feet…

I started a thread on shoes myself recently & am still searching for the holy grail 🤪

I ordered some to try them and I didn’t find them particularly narrow - I have very wide feet- but they’re just exceptionally hard. They'd take a LOT of breaking in and I can’t be bothered with that so sent them back.

@Broody1976 I found the DM's too narrow, have a look at Solovair, they are wider.

I got the Oliver Bonas ones - they’re great! Lovely and chunky, and comfy from the first wear.

Hmmnn - yes didn’t even consider the hardness. Breaking in DMs can be a mission.

Will have a look, thank you ☺️

Just wanted to say, I love the look of loafers but a few years ago I got some gorgeous LK Bennett black soft leather loafers.

Walked down my very steep hill where I lived at the time to catch the train. Motorbike back-fired, I leapt up in the air, landed hard on my right foot but got up and walked to work. Got some Deep Freeze and a support bandage. Walked around office as thought it might do the foot some good. Got home, flatmate was flabbergasted, next morning I woke and foot was 4-6 times its size. Doctor just thought it was a bad sprain but a few months later when I hurt foot again turned out i'd broken a small bone or two originally.

So I can't do loafers due to little support!

Just to add, I got the dm adrians and yes they were hard but a week or so in and they are pretty well adjusted. They were very firm over the top of my foot but that is easing now and as for width, the toe box seems roomy enough to me, I have standard width feet I think. Not narrow anyway. I just got my normal shoe size. I love them!
