Where did all the stick deodorant go??

Boots, supermarkets etc all sold out apart from maybe some Mitchum for £££.

I could buy a lifetime’s supply of roll-on or spray but no stick!

Am I just unlucky? or is this some bizarre supply chain anomaly

I can't find Mitchum either. It's very annoying! Maybe I'll try Wild too.

@megletthesecond a quick blast with the hairdryer in cool setting stops you having to waft about waiting on it to dry.

Someone needs to take over the manufacturing of stick deodorant the only one in shops is the Mitchum bamboo one and that makes your clothes reek if you get even the slightest bit sweaty.

Yes I bought the Mitchum Bamboo one from Amazon when I couldn't find the usual ones in stores, it went in the bin, it was dreadful!

I’m so glad you said this about Mitchum bamboo - I thought it was just me! It makes me smell awful! 😂

middleofthelittle · 03/10/2022 16:27

I managed to get some dove sticks in boots yesterday. Not many left and hasn't been many for months. Amazon have packs of 6 for £20 which is laughable

Keroppi · 03/10/2022 16:29

I use natural deos and never out of stock of the sticks! They are different to traditional deos - for me, I have to reapply sometimes thru the day depending on activities
I like the dr organic one, jason and salt of the earth. Not tried fussy yet. Also weekly wipe glycolic acid on my armpits
I also dont shave my armpit hair, I trim - when I have shaved I sweat loads more and it stinks!!

Roundthebend45 · 03/10/2022 16:30

There seem to be some unscented Mitchum sticks in stock here, but I’ve never ordered from this company before so can’t vouch for whether they are reliable or not.

Ariela · 03/10/2022 16:33

posylondon.com/products/family-pack are good.

florriegirl · 03/10/2022 16:36

I've recently switched to fussy natural deodorant, it works brilliantly for me and lasts ages.

Sorry to butt in .
Can anyone tell me if the Wild sandalwood and patchouli actually smells of patchouli, I am an old hippy and none of the natural deodorants I have tried so far have more than a faint whiff of patchouli.

Know it‘a not a popular smell on here but it’s the smell of my youth and as I don’t have any friends anyway I’m not going to alienate anyone with my aroma 😀

@Ilovedthe70s I am not familiar with that particular scent as I am more fruity. All the Wild's I have tried so far have smelled amazing and recognisable to what they are - However... the scent quickly fades off and you don't really smell it once it is on you.

I have used Wild for nearly 2 years now. It is really good and works really well. I was on the extra strong Sure and I have found Wild as effective - although it works differently . It's hard to explain, and be warned, there is an adjustment time. I was smelling by bed time for about 2 weeks and then it got better until I was achieving 24 hours +.

JohnNutLips · 03/10/2022 16:55

I’ve managed to find some in small pharmacies - paid a bit more for them though!

gogohmm · 03/10/2022 17:01

Roll on was out of stock for weeks in Lidl, got some branded into today so I snaffled 3

MattDamon · 03/10/2022 17:01

bigbadbarry · 03/10/2022 15:46

Ocado has dove sticks. I bought a few a while back when I saw somebody on here say they were getting hard to find, but they are still available

I did exactly the same!

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 03/10/2022 17:02

Downandout01 · 03/10/2022 14:03

Yesssssss I've found same too. It's so annoying. I would give my eye teeth for a sure deo stick. All I've managed to find for months is roll ons or the odd nivea stick. Putin is the pits.

Yes Putin is "the pits" clearly not bothered about our "pits" 🤪

Prev thread with lots more on this:

www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4567771-to-wonder-where-all-the-stick-deodorant-has-gone

Basically, it all went away, and has started coming back about a month ago. Russia manufacturing issues, and Mitchum was selling out cos people who couldn’t get their normal other stick ones were buying that.

TotteringByGenteeley · 03/10/2022 17:13

There was an article in The Guardian about this last week. Apparently the stick deodorants were manufactured in Russia but they've now found a manufacturer in Italy to take over production so the supply chain should be resuming very soon.

I've been tearing my hair out looking in every Boots, Superdrug, supermarkets and pharmacies but to no avail, I can't wait for the supplies to hit the shops again.

I can't stand aerosols or roll-ons, dry sticks are the best way to go!

Purpleavocado · 03/10/2022 17:15

My local small branch of Boots normally has it it stock - I managed to get a Nivea one which is pretty good. Mitchum is in most supermarkets but quite expensive now.

Badtasteflump · 03/10/2022 18:24

Savers has them the other day - £2 each...

poorbuthappy · 03/10/2022 19:44

I buy sure maximum in 6s from Amazon

Squiz81 · 03/10/2022 19:57

HAve you checked the mens section? I got a mens Mitchum stick deodorant recently in sainsburys.

SuspiciousDuck · 05/10/2022 19:50

Well you lot inspired me to keep looking, with all this talk of them starting to return.

Lo and behold, there in Waitrose today, a little huddle of sticks sitting shyly on the shelf waiting for me. I bought four - not all for me, I add, before I’m accused of hoarding! Hooray! No more chicken dancing in the dark at 6am when I’m already late for work.

M&S had some Mitchum sticks in stock today (Midlands) I was idly browsing and noticed and recalled there had been a shortage recently

DontMakeMeShushYou · 05/10/2022 19:55

MarpleFan · 03/10/2022 15:40

I use Wild stick deodorant and it’s great, and eco-friendly.

So do I and both my kids. Highly recommended!

Howlongwillthistake · 05/10/2022 23:33

Just bought 4 Sure ones from teaco at 1.99 ... yay!

ClaryFairchild · 06/10/2022 00:49

Have you looked on Amazon? Plenty here in Australia and you might get lucky with an Amazon Prime international supplier and not have to pay delivery.

Rexona is the equivalent is Sure.

Dinoteeth · 06/10/2022 07:18

@ClaryFairchild where are the ones normally on sale in Australia made?

The issue in Europe is they were made in Russia, production has been moved to Italy but its just taking time for shops to restock.
