Is there a way to cover dark circles without wearing a full face of makeup?

I have really dark circles under my eyes, always have done since being a child. I never go to work without makeup but often go without at home. Without it, I just look tired.

At the moment I use Bobbi brown peach to cancel out my dark circles and then Estée Lauder double wear foundation on top to blend it into the rest of my face/hide the fact I've slapped a load of orange over my dark circles.

Is there a way of covering dark circles without putting a full face of foundation on? I don't necessarily need foundation for the rest of my face really.

Thanks 😊

Following as I have the same issue.

Yep I'd like to know this too. Perimenopausal lack of sleep making me look like a panda!

Wheretheskyisblue · 01/10/2022 16:11

I use a concealer under eye and then a tinted moisturiser all over. It reduces them but does not hide them completely but I think that is partly becuase my eyes are deep set which highlights shadows.

Could you just do colour corrector & concealer, rather than foundation?

Entwifery · 01/10/2022 16:40

Concealer...

Janek · 01/10/2022 16:41

I barely notice mine now I wear glasses all the time...

Coffeepot72 · 01/10/2022 16:43

I either use pink colour corrector, or Rimmel Hide the blemish concealer (very cheap but just as good as some of the pricier options) I rarely wear foundation

Fluffythefish · 01/10/2022 16:56

Boots Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer has a shade that matches my skin exactly and so I can cover my blue/black under eye shadow without needed foundation as well. That doesn't guarantee there is an exact match for you but its worth a try at under £5 a go

I use a colour corrector from charlotte tilbury - any colour corrector that comes in shades will help, I need the lightest but it actually looks natural then (rather than orangey pink circles!).

Following for some holy grail products... I'm currently using the beauty pie undereye concealer which is OK. Ditto the fuck me I'm flawless (I'm not 😆) from il makiage but neither are the full ticket.

Overoptimistix · 01/10/2022 17:05

I use F*ck me I'm flawless by Il Makiage. I normally use the tinted La Roche Posay moisturiser too but the concealer blends so well that you don't need anything else.

Fake tan on the face to minimise the contrast.

MumUndone · 09/10/2022 13:04

I use rimmel wake me up concealer under my eyes and set with a bit of translucent powder, I don't use foundation. Seems to do the trick.

Fluckle · 09/10/2022 13:12

There's a Beauty Pie eye primer that's pink and reflective and brilliant for this. I apply a thin layer under eyes and on lids buff on with a brush, and that would be brightening in itself, but I apply Dior creamy concealer on top when I need a bit more coverage. Works a treat.

TulipVictory · 09/10/2022 20:00

@Gwenhwyfar I've never put fake tan on my face, do you have one to recommend? Thanks 😊

Use a clear tan on your face as the guide colour can sit in your pores. YSL touché éclat Under eyes is good

AltheaVestr1t · 09/10/2022 20:04

I use a yellow toned stick under concealer on mine. They are not invisible but certainly improved!

NorthernSoul55 · 09/10/2022 22:25

Another vote for Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. I have always had dark circles and I use this every day, even if I'm not leaving the house. It's always still there at the end of the day. Can be a bit dry so make sure your under eye is well moisturised.

psuedocream3 · 10/10/2022 08:08

You need red, not orange to hide dark circles. I use primer, then a red lipstick to 'stain' the shadowy areas of my face, and under eyes as they are especially bruised looking these days from lack of sleep, then go over with concealer and foundation which completely hides them it's like some sort of black magic. Orange is for brightening, so your eye area will look brighter but the dark circles wont be hidden. Green is for colour correction of pink areas and violet is for correction of yellow areas.

I have naturally pale skin and orange tones in fake tan look sickly on pale skin. I have tried almost every one and always come back to Vita Liberata, no orange tones, very natural and buildble colour, and blends seamlessly. I know alot of people recommend isle of paradise tanning drops but I find it awful, harse colour, not seamless to blend due to it being clear. A fake tan with colour guide is fine as long as you've done your skincare routine before using it, it wont clog pores.

5128gap · 10/10/2022 08:56

I use a pink cream blush on the circles with concealer over it. I didn't believe it either till I tried it!

lmCrazy · 10/10/2022 15:04

@5128gap @psuedocream3 Thank you both I just tried it with my Barry M lip and cheek tint on my extreme dark circles (anaemia, insomnia and allergies), topped up with my usual and it worked brilliantly. Concealer alone gives me a sort of grey tinge to my under eyes but this trick really looks so much more natural.
I knew about colour correctors under concealer but this trick saves up space and money so I don't need an additional product now. I love a good multitasking product! Thanks again :)

The M&S drops that you add to your moisturiser.

sandytooth · 11/10/2022 21:30

I'd go to a counter and get them to try a colour corrector on you. Sounds like you might be being quite heavy with it if you are having to use double wear

MidnightMeltdown · 15/10/2022 11:03

I use hourglass concealer on mine. Rarely wear foundation

Lastoftheenglishroses · 15/10/2022 11:09

I am taking the dive and getting filler in my test troughs for my dark circles - it appears to work really well and lasts about a year. I want to be make up free for the majority of the time, and was during lockdowns, but my dark eye area makes me self conscious.
