Jacket with dress

Got 4 maybe even more black tie events coming up plus going to be really busy with work before so been trying to plan bought this dress on eBay think I've shown you all it before will get it taken up and will get another I think 🤔

Sounds more glamorous than it is although nice to get dressed up.

Just need a clutch bag mine is falling apart.

Sorry for the cardboard mess on the floor, we are preparing for the recycle day.
As you can see from my clothes choice, it's still very hot! Thank God is not too humid anymore, so the heat is much more bearable.

Morning all! Thank you @EllaPaella - everyone looks so lovely and I, who normally hates autumn/winter, have become so bored with my summer wardrobe that I'm embracing it this year.
Jeans - M&S Ivy, bought yesterday and they are VERY skinny.
Boots - Sainsbury's
Raincoat - Zara

As for the "well-mannered." tops, I might be too embarrassed to wear them haha! I love how they put that little dot at the end of the word. Makes it all look a bit intimidating!

May I ask whether anyone owns knitwear made with raccoon or fox wool? What is it like? Is it warm, what about pilling?
I knew about raccoon wool, but just discovered that that fluffy and soft like a dream cardigan I was trying on today is actually 90% fox wool! I've googled and it looks like they use naturally shredded wool here, so it's cruelty-free. Didn't know you could wear a jumper made with actual fox wool!
It makes me even more tempted to buy that cardigan now. Maybe I should go for a more neutral shade than pink...

re:the fox and raccoon wool. It may be ‘shed’ but those animals will still need to be housed in tiny cages on intensive farms in order to supply the hair.

if you consider the well-documented welfare problems associated with rabbit angora for example as they are plucked for fur www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/angora-fur-rabbit-cruelty-animal-abuse-video-watch-a7309866.html?amp
and then imagine trying to do that with foxes or raccoons you can see that it’s not going to be pleasant.

you can be pretty confident there isn’t a fox-hair collector wandering around the countryside collecting tufts of naturally shed fox hair to make wool. It will be intensive and likely unpleasant, especially if these are products of Asian origin where animal welfare standards are quite different (fox and raccoon ‘wool’ clothes don’t really exist in Europe and it’s likely that legislation would make farming to produce them tricky and expensive).

sorry to be negative but I think it’s worth considering if you’re spending money, what kind of industry you want to support.

@FurAndFeathers i couldnt agree more, i actually read the thread yesterday evening and the thought of Fox and Raccoon fur played on my mind all evening. It makes me feel very uncomfortable that in 2022 we are still exploiting animals in ways that are not transparent for people too make informed choices.

While I was thinking about the cardigan and started to google in Japanese what is the deal with fox wool, I learnt that part of the fox wool used in Japan comes from China (no cruelty control there, it looks like) and Japan (which is more expensive and rare). I'm not 100% sure as my googling skills are not perfect, but it looks like the Japanese fur is taken at the fox village (it's sort of a national park/zoo with foxes freely running around).
I couldn't find out which fur exactly the shop I purchased from used for their products, but the lady at the shop said that the company made only few pieces (which would make sense if they were using Japanese wool) and all their other stuff was Japan-made. That's my guess anyway! I'm trying to shop more consciously, but it's a long way I guess...

Today is dh birthday so I'm literally cooking all day whilst trying to look pretty (the two don't go🙈 I usually end up hot and flustered, whilst dodging stains on clothes)

Boots- boutique in brentwood bought years ago they are beasts, super high to walk in but sooo comfy

Yeah I cannot think of a way that you could produce and harvest fox or raccoon fur without it causing pretty significant welfare issues. The amount of hair needed to produce even one garment would be significant.

an average sheep fleece (much larger with longer fibres) only produces enough yarn for 1-2 jumpers, so you’d need dozens of foxes to produce a similar amount.

@EllaPaella I absolutely love that Ripcurl sweater. Is it the ‘golden state crew fleece’? I’ve just been looking on the Ripcurl website after seeing your post and there is that one and a few similar ones that have caught my eye! Do you mind if I ask how tall you are and what the sizing is like? I often find sweatshirts that look good on line are a bit too short on me in real life ( baukjen for example) but it looks like the perfect length on you. I’m 5’7 and a 14/16 in clothes but like the oversized look in sweatshirts.

Today I swam. It was so lovely. And I so needed it. Boden Swimsuit which I don't usually mind showing the world, but am feeling a little urgh so won't today. And Saltwater sandals (so brilliant for getting in and out)

@faffadoodledo I had a lovely sea swIm this morning as well. Perfect weather for it and luckily we are finally having some flat sea after a few weeks of washed out horribleness.
Today I'm wearing fatface dungarees with an ancient cardigan from Topshop. Not a good photo - it appears I'm missing a leg!

Relaxed day today, watched DS play football and collected my new glasses (first ever pair of varifocals, so £££ 😟 but it's so nice being able to read properly again!)
Looking forward to a roast and strictly results later 💃

Jeans are M&S from charity shop, jumper from hush and slipper boots again - think they'll be getting a lot of wear this autumn/winter.

Sea swim sounds perfect @faffadoodledo . We had a lovely coastal walk with dd who is visiting this weekend. I'm on a mission to put all my uncomfortable trousers to the charity shop. Two pairs gone already this week. Trousers and thermal M&S, cardigan debenhams. Yesterday cardigan Gap, trousers Planet. These trousers srarted the trouser cull as I bought them last week for £1.99 and decided to get rid of my old, uncomfortable trousers.
