Greasy hair help needed

DD is soon to turn 14 and thanks to the hormones, her long, fine hair has become very greasy. It is really getting her down.

We're at a loss how to improve it. She washes it daily. If she washes her hair in the morning it is greasy by the end of the day. More often, due to timings she washes it at night but by the morning it greasy again, so she uses volumes of dry shampoo on it.

She has tried oil control shampoo but the only impact seems to be drying out the ends of her hair.

If she uses conditioner, it's only on the ends.

Can anyone suggest products she can use to improve it?

Do silk pillowcases work?

I thought about getting her a heated brush or curling wand for her birthday so she style it out.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Wash hair twice with a sulfate free shampoo. Apply some dry shampoo to roots after blow drying.

Before using sulfate free shampoo my hair would need daily washing. Now I only need to wash every three days.

I only use conditioner rarely and sparingly.

I can recommend the Kerastase Specifique again. I normally wash my hair every day anyway, so use more nourishing shampoos, but used it yesterday and this morning the hair, while not really clean, was still fully presentable. And it doesn't dry out the ends.

Lifelong greasy hair sufferer here. Dyeing hair takes the grease out for a while but your daughter may not wish to dye her hair. I've always washed my hair daily despite repeated advice not to. Leaving it just doesn't work. The upside is that when my hair is not greasy, it's in very good condition. Soft and shiny.

Another one with greasy hair and oily skin here (mine is due to PCOS)! I've found, for me, that using products that say they are for grease-prone hair often makes the issue worse in that it dries the hair out so much that I end up with dry ends AND greasy roots - not a great look!

I wash my hair daily (two rinse throughs with shampoo and a bit of conditioner) and use a moisture-rich shampoo. I find I have to change products every now and then so am currently using OGX Argan Oil of Morocco (yes I know it sounds counterintuitive to be using something with oil in it!) which leaves it lovely and soft.

I also use the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle as an occasional extra conditioning treat.

Things should settle down for your daughter over time, it's tough being a greasy teen and it's not much better being a greasy 41 year old! I reconcile myself with the hope that my oily skin means I won't wrinkle quite so quickly!
