Slip under dress

Does anyone still wear slips under dresses, or is that really old fashioned? It's just that I've started wearing dresses for work (nurse) rather than trousers and tunic cos the trousers don't fit me at all, but the dresses seem to be a bit odd in how they hang. Maybe it's just me that's a funny shape? I didn't know whether something under might help?

I'm mid 30s and wear slips all the time. Dresses sit much better with a slip.

Yep I wear a slip or a chemise with a dress or (clingy skirt) - but M&S etc slips all seem to be nylon, but you can get cotton chemise as I think they maybe are meant to be thin /small nighties.I prefer cotton.

Love them. But wish I had some glamorous fifties ones.

I wasn't sure whether they're a bit "Carry On Nurse" type of things! I'd just be worried about getting too hot cos it's already boiling on the ward, and that it would show?

I do sometimes. It helps dresses hang better with less cling, and is an extra layer of warmth on cold days.
I have the M&S one which comes in a choice of lengths, but restricted on colour choices, and am considering this:

If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great!

Trouser problems are not unusual from uniform suppliers. We had a batch where everyone's waistbands were really tight, but the hips and thighs were massive. Loads went back and then the contract was changed.
I wear slips more often than not, but with some of the uniform suppliers, the dresses don't "move" with a pure cotton slip underneath. Slips with some viscose or tencel in them might be better.

I was quite taken aback by the recent thread about this. I can't imagine not wearing a slip under an unlined dress.

Are you a nurse too? We have the same problem with the trousers, no-one can do up the trousers in the right size.
I don't want anything that will hinder movement, do you wear dresses all the time?
