Big pants that don’t dig in at the top of the leg.

I like simple big pants for everyday, or to sleep in with a vest, but all the ones I buy dig in at the very top of the thigh, which I hate. I like plain black Sloggis, but they do this, and I’ve just bought the John Lewis own brand pants but they do the same. I am not thin and don’t have skinny legs but I’m not very large either, a padded size 12. I had the same issue when I was a lot thinner though.
With the JL ones I sized up one size but the knickers themselves are a little bit too roomy overall, yet the elastic still digs in, and also digs in at the back of the legs too.
I bought the Wirpal ones often suggested on here, they are better than thw JL ones, but still not amazingly comfy at the legs.
The shorty version from JL is fine (no leg elastic) .
Any tips ? I don’t mind if they are expensive, I just want something simple , cottony would be a plus.

Have you tried mens boxers? Sounds weird but I live in my Calvin Kleins, can’t stand things digging in everywhere xxx

LadyGAgain · 12/09/2022 00:31

George (Asda) have brilliant cotton "big" pants with the lace top. I can get them all the way up to above my waist Grin. Perfect for pairing with a best top for bed.

I've got some midi briefs in plain black cotton from Sainsburys, and they are so comfortable. I bought them after I'd had unplanned surgery and then stayed with a relative with none of my own stuff - they was only limited choice in my size.

I love them though, and I've bought several more packs since.

M&S Flexifit shorts ( or high leg)
Genuinely the most comfy knickers I've ever worn.

dudsville · 12/09/2022 07:10

I wear Thunder Pants. The Original is a generous cut, and there's no elastic band. They're expensive but they last years.

SirVixofVixHall · 12/09/2022 09:37

I have the flexifit ones, I liked the old style very much, but the newer style has more fabric at the leg holes so not as smooth and simple.
I haven’t tried Sainsbury’s or Thunderpants- I will go and look now.

I rate Uniqlo's high rise pants. They have wide elastic lace bordering the legs and top which doesn't dig at all. Also Gap's high rise bikini brief are very plain, comfortable and don't show through clothes, but less long lasting.

I had this problem, now I wear M&S boyshorts. They're comfy and don't dig in but they don't wash all that well and soon look a bit tatty. I'd love to find a more quality but affordable version (made of cotton).

I wear M&S sleep knickers to bed with a pyjama top. They're so comfortable I've often thought of wearing them in the day

babyjellyfish · 12/09/2022 10:32

Intimissimi, the seamless cotton supima range.

GlitterB0mb · 12/09/2022 11:10

M&S High Waist Cotton pants are good, but the nylon blend version is crap

Fluffygreenslippers · 12/09/2022 11:11

Primark high waisted ribbed ones are excellent. They also have a shortie style.

GetOffTheRoof · 12/09/2022 11:12

I only wear these now for the same reason: www.marksandspencer.com/3pk-flexifit-full-briefs/p/clp60486939?color=RASPBERRY

They come in plain colour packs as well. The flair at the bottom of the knicker leg means they don't dig in at all.

MrsWooster · 12/09/2022 11:14

Another for Sainsbury’s midi /short type thing. No elastic at the top of the leg and very comfortable.

bravotango · 12/09/2022 11:18

Recently got some high waisted ribbed pants from Matalan that are wonderful!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/09/2022 11:19

Primark or TU at Sainsburys

HumourReplacementTherapy · 12/09/2022 12:00

Primark!
Comfy, high wasted, good elastic tent so they give you a good shape without cutting off circulation.
They come in a 3 pack. Think they're £8 for 3 pairs.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 12/09/2022 12:02

That should read
Good elastane content. Grin
They are not quite so big you can camp in them Grin

Floralnomad · 12/09/2022 12:03

Try the Carole Hochman seam free , I’ve swopped from Sloggi to these and they are excellent .

SirVixofVixHall · 12/09/2022 13:02

I ordered some Thunderpants and Sainsbury’s this morning, more suggestions since so I will work through those now, I am feeling hopeful !

I agree, I do find the M&S boy shorts comfortable too, but they shrink and somehow change shape quite quickly . I don’t mind paying more for something better quality as I have thrown so many away.

Another vote for Sainsbury's. The best pants for sure.

MayMi · 12/09/2022 13:19

M&S pants have always worked well for me 👍🏻 very comfy

SirVixofVixHall · 12/09/2022 14:57

I hate waistbands that dig in too, but I can find ones with comfortable waists, it is the leg holes that are the problem. Chubby thighs are not helping.

I also have a post c-section shelf so bikini types just sit in my scar and accentuate it. I need some tummy coverage.
