Anyone switched over their wardrobe yet to Autumn/Winter?

Northwest here and the weather is definitely changing. Toying with idea of switching wardrobe over tomorrow - anyone else done this yet or are you still firmly in summer camp?
just got a bit frustrated today as could have done with my knee high suede brown boots to wear with wide legged mid length trousers so got me thinking, it could be time.
Not sure if I have the energy though for the big loft switchover!

It's been raining all week in the north east but it's still been between 17-21° most days. Definitely still too warm for autumn/winter clothes for me. I've known it to be warm and sunny until mid October (even though the mornings and evenings can be a bit chilly) so I don't think I'm ready to pack away summer clothes just yet.
I am looking forward to resurrecting my A/W clothes as I'm getting a little bored with my clothes at the moment.

Devo1818 · 10/09/2022 07:21

I'm desperate to, but forecast is 25 and sunny on Monday. Its been heavy rain and chilly last couple of days. I hate September- it's so in-between!

BirdWatch · 10/09/2022 07:24

Usually I would have started storing my summer clothing away. I just had surgery and not up to it yet. Also, it is still quite warm here, ac on 24/7 and I am just wearing pj's anyways.

liveforsummer · 10/09/2022 07:31

I didn't know this was a thing. I just wear the same clothes but out more of them on when it's colder. It wound be really difficult to switch just now as here it's cold mornings, lots of rain but still very warm in the afternoons. Typical Scotland with 3 seasons in a day!

Wearefoooked22 · 10/09/2022 07:37

South Yorkshire, jeans and jumper today although people were still walking around in shorts an t-shirts despite the thunderstorms an rain.

I didn't know this was a thing either. I have a fair amount of clothes, but not enough to need to store half of it in a loft. I generally wear the same tops throughout the year but add a jumper in the colder months, and swap shorts for jeans or skirts with tights. I suppose we do have separate footwear wardrobes depending on the year, so yes I have swapped over to DMs rather than Birkenstock's already :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/09/2022 07:47

I got a new wardrobe in May so went through a load of my clothes then. I need to put away the summery tops /shorts but not ready to wear my winter clothes yet ( it's set to be 23-25 here)

DH tidied the loft a couple of weeks ago so I don't know exactly what is there .

I've ordered a couple of jumpers so I'm ready for A/W Grin

wfrances · 10/09/2022 07:51

My very summery clothes and sandals went up the attic yesterday
I've kept a few dresses which can be worn with ankle boots and a jacket / cardi , one pair of tan sandals and one straw bag .

I have my jeans out now , with thin knits , opaque tights and short skirts/ dresses .

Chunky knits and wool coats will come out later

RampantIvy · 10/09/2022 08:16

I have some very definitely summery clothes - strappy tops, linen trousers, shorts, sandals and summer dresses that are only suitable for hot weather, and I was very glad of them this year.

I hadn't worn jeans for months until I started wearing them again this week. They would have been far too warm this summer.

I have enough wardrobe space, but store my summer clothes on the difficult to reach top shelf during the winter.

LimeCheesecake · 10/09/2022 08:22

I do it as I don’t have much wardrobe space in my bedroom, we use some of the fitted wardrobes in dds room and so I have my knitted /thicker winter dresses in there currently, and my floaty summery dresses in my bedroom. I have a shelf with shorts and summery tops folded on it, then there’s a box in the bottom of the spare wardrobe in dds room with the thick jumpers in it. At some point I’ll swap them over.

I think it’s that awkward point, doesn’t feel cold enough for the swap, but I’m not going to be wearing shorts and sundresses again this year.

Arnaquer · 10/09/2022 08:27

Not fully but am packing shorts and strapping dresses away

All my clothes for all seasons are in my wardrobe or drawers.I don't pack any clothes away.
I'm in Scotland and still wearing short sleeved tops indoors.Outdoors I'll take a light zip up cardigan with me in case it gets cooler.
I had a pair of jeans on today for the first time in weeks.

Same here. I don't have anywhere I can pack clothes away to, and even if I did, I'm not sure quite what I'd pack away. I wear short sleeved t-shirt and tops year round, just adding cardigan or jumper when it's winter. I guess it would be a handful of summer dresses, and a few summery trousers plus shorts. But then I might go in a holiday somewhere warm in autumn and still need those clothes

ShadowsShadowsShadows · 10/09/2022 09:23

I also don't have distinct summer and winter wardrobes. Obviously there are a few things that I won't wear in the depths of winter but they get a lot of use on warm spring and autumn days as well as summer so it would seem pointless to pack them away. Equally the very thick jumpers I wear in the depths of winter get used for chilly autumn or spring evenings if we are sat outside for a bonfire or taking the dogs to the coast.
I have lots of dresses I can wear on their own in summer and then with leggings or tights in colder weather. My coats are all still hanging on the coat rack from last year and will all need to be cleaned. I will need to dig out my very thick socks once we get further into frosty dog walk season though and obviously scarves and gloves are currently shoved in a drawer.

MintJulia · 10/09/2022 09:23

I'm sorting them this afternoon. Checking/reheeling boots, sorting wool trousers and jackets for work. I definitely need some long sleeved t-shirts.

And some boots or good trainers I can wear to work. Need to speed-walk Waterloo to Fleet St. so must be comfortable and made to last.

8AndGreat · 10/09/2022 09:24

.

nannybeach · 10/09/2022 09:27

Didn't know this was a thing, presumably you don't wear Sandals in winter! I put jeans on in the morning, back in shorts the following hour.

yasminisa · 10/09/2022 13:20

I've taken out two pairs of boots, but mainly for dog walks after I slipped in the rain. A pair of Blundstone Chelsea boots, and my trusty DMs. For some odd reason I've developed blisters, even though these boots are years old. I think it's because I'm not in my socks routine yet

IconicKitty · 10/09/2022 13:56

I'm half way there. Still wearing summer tops etc but with cardies when it's not so warm. Still wearing summer trousers but I think my shorts will retire until next year...

RampantIvy · 10/09/2022 14:45

Unless we get an Indian summer my shorts won't be worn again until next year.

I also don't have distinct summer and winter wardrobes

I have clothes that are only suitable for hot weather (shorts, thin summer dresses, strappy tops) and clothes that are only suitable for very cold weather @ShadowsShadowsShadows. I also have clothes like jeans and T-shirts that get worn all year round, although when it is very hot then I won't wear jeans.

As we will be more circumspect with our heating I expect I will be wrapping up more in the house this winter.

Cantonet · 10/09/2022 14:46

I haven't done a full seasonal changeover yet but I've introduced mules instead of flipflops. I'm still wearing lightweight Muslin shirts & linen T's but with jeans & a Protected Species raincoat instead of linen trousers. My high summer sundresses are gone, but I still have a couple of long sleeved ones out & a pair of denim shorts. Pink & Kkaki M&S side striped trousers are back in my wardrobe & a couple of Cashmere ponchos, as we've had some cold evenings this week. The rest of the Cashmere is still packed away until it's required.
Khaki pants are also back in the wardrobe as I wear these as an alternative to jeans & a couple pairs of tracksuit ones too for weekends.

XingMing · 10/09/2022 15:33

It's been very mixed in the SW this week, so I've moved the heatwave/holiday stuff to the spare room but am back in shorts today. Who knows what will be needed next week? I enjoyed looking at the autumn fashion section in the newspaper today.

RampantIvy · 10/09/2022 16:57

We have had a cloudy 18 degrees here. Definitely not shorts weather.

BoviTraci · 10/09/2022 17:05

Oh I was going to post a thread about exactly this ! Weather still decent so probably the end of September

JMAngel1 · 10/09/2022 17:08

Looking a lot more Autumnal now!

Feels good to have done it - had a good sort out / lots of culls. Although I can’t find my precious chocolate brown knee high boots. I bought a cinnamon silk asymmetrical midi skirt specifically to wear with them. DH has reorganised the loft so they will be up there somewhere but have to stop now to make dinner 😂

Anyone switched over their wardrobe yet to Autumn/Winter?

I must say, next week does feel like the dry cleaning week for winter coats to make sure they are all done and back before the weather changes and I’m caught out. Also thanks for the boots re-heel reminder ! Need to do it soon, or else I’ll be trying to get them all done at October half term along with everyone else !
