There must be something that stops frizz

This weather is just awful for my hair. It needs a cut which doesn't help but even so I'm sick of looking a mess.

I tried curly girl but it just doesn't suit my hair type at all, the top layer of my hair just won't curl at all.

I currently straighten my hair but even with products I walk outside and it goes into a frizzy mess- I just want to look groomed!!!!

I use L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil which is great. If you like super straight hair then Redken Frizz Dismiss is what you need.

Rummikub · 09/09/2022 13:55

Watching with interest.

My hair hates this weather too. In my head I’m imagining sleek curls. I walk out the door look in a mirror and it’s fine hair frizz.

primeoflife · 09/09/2022 16:48

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor I think I may have tried that but it was a bit heavy for my hair, I'll double check!! I'll look at the Redken stuff!

@Rummikub it's so annoying isn't it!

Only thing that stopped my hair being a frizzy mess is a Brazilian blow-dry.
I have one every 3 months.
I hardly ever use my straighteners anymore.
My hair is always sleek and shiny.

It is!

And I think a lot of products ,esp oil based, are too heavy on my five thin hair.

I tried Percy & Reed Wonder Hair balm. And that’s seems the best so far but I don’t know if I’ll get consistent results or if it’s a fluke!

Aussie leave in spray is too heavy and doesn’t define.

Straightening my hair just makes it look like I have v little hair.

RatherBeRiding · 09/09/2022 17:10

I use something called Wow which I find effective - but you do need to spray a lot of it to make a difference. Fortunately I have short fine hair so it really works very well.

DelilahBucket · 09/09/2022 17:18

Not straightening and learning how to blow dry it straight has made a huge difference to mine. It's nowhere near as frizzy as it used to be. That and deep conditioning it every week and using a SLS free shampoo/conditioner.

Soozikinzii · 09/09/2022 17:29

I use the one of the shea moisture shampoos and the 8 minute wonder loreal in the orange bottle which is only about £5 it's very good .my hairdresser commented last time how smooth it felt and she uses olaplex stuff ! I have a babyliss Diamond shine iconic brush and use hask argan oil serum on the ends which is also very reasonably priced. Some of the hair products these days are ridiculous. My hair is naturally porous and frizzy !

ellieboolou · 09/09/2022 17:38

My hair goes like cotton candy in this weather, I've found good old fashioned hairspray the best to combat frizz, run some serum through first then spray (use a good quality one with firm hold).

UpToonGirl · 09/09/2022 17:40

I've not found anything but I've tried loads, a lot of the products mentioned above. Best thing for me is to tie my hair up if I know its drizzly. My hair actually looks better if it gets properly wet.

I haven't tried a Brazilian blow dry because I like to switch between straight and wavy hair but I feel like this might be the only thing which works.

BlackSwan · 09/09/2022 17:53

Lamellar water is good if you google that - I've tried Kerastase K water (too strongly perfumed) & a Redken one (which I prefer). Just bought one by Matrix which is cheaper, let's see how it goes.
You use it instead of conditioner. Pour/sprinkle on the water, and pretty much immediately rinse off. Makes your hair go like glass... worth a try.

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 09/09/2022 17:56

Keratin. Tresemme 7 day straight has changed my life! I don't need to straighten my frizz at all any more if I dry it enough whilst brushing but if you run the straighteners over, it really does lock it in.

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 09/09/2022 17:57

This one

There must be something that stops frizz
Rummikub · 09/09/2022 17:58

Is it heavy on hair? Or do you have thin hair?

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 09/09/2022 18:04

I've got a lot of coarse hair

Rummikub · 09/09/2022 18:17

thank you

uf it’s cheap enough I might be tempted to try it as my hair is rather coarse too.

BadSkin · 09/09/2022 18:50

I feel your pain OP! Watching with interest.

sausagepastapot · 09/09/2022 19:36

I have found blowdrying with the Airwrap and using shiploads of Wow Dreamcoat to be the best anti frizz solutions. And I have tried e v e r y t h I n g

Bargunhunterishere · 09/09/2022 19:51

My hair has frizzed out too but not as bad as before.

Using light Organic oils has helped my hair.

My favourite brand is Pharmaid. I use their hair spray.

missyksmt · 09/09/2022 19:57

100% colour wow dream coat. If you're feeling flush get the shampoo and conditioner too. It makes a big difference. Most shampoos you'd get in Tesco coat your hair with silicon and other shit which make it frizzy. It's a pain but you use less product because you're not washing it all the time and the high quality stuff is a lot more... what's the word. It just works better. You need less.

So a good proper wash, x 2. Condition. A final rinse with really cold water.

Let hair dry naturally a bit. Section off and coat each section with dream coat. Blow dry with some tension on the brush. Seal in with a straightener. I always use a large barrel tong too for some blow dry looking waves. Oh and finish off with a little drop of Olaplex no7 oil. That lasts about a year as you only need one or 2 drops.

I swear this lasts like 4/5 days if you tie your hair up with a silk or satin bobble and use a satin or silk pillowcase.

Such a long post! Sorry. This routine has turned my very frizzy, completely unmanageable hair into silky wavy hair that doesn't frizzy in this shitty weather.

TheOGCCL · 09/09/2022 20:55

I agree with pp that hair spray (Elnett) works best for me, after serum, blow dry etc

motleymop · 09/09/2022 21:08

Watching as mine is completely absurd

Tomorrow I have a garden party in 80% humidity!

I will use the Percy and Reed wonder balm after washing my hair. Let it dry naturally (when I mess with it it never looks good)
Then spray with Elmer. Think that would work? I do have some light hair oil that I might put in the ends to try to weigh it down a bit?

RJnomore1 · 10/09/2022 00:03

Place marking up read tomorrow. I’m like Monica from friends on holiday just now.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 10/09/2022 00:04

I bought a keratin treatment and did my own. Finally finally frizz free hair!
