Washing my face in the toothpaste sink ☹️

We’re getting a new bathroom put in and I desperately wanted ‘Jack and Jill’ sinks but they didn’t fit.

I would love to get into an evening routine of using lovely facial cleansing products but how does it work if you’ve only got one sink?

Don't fill up the bathroom sink to rinse your face. You're just using dirty water then. Instead, use cupped hands under a running tap.
I honestly can't believe I'm having to spell this out though. No one ever taught me specifically to do this but I just figured it out. How do you get through your day op?

Exactly !!!!

You need a ‘face fountain’ like mine. It disgorges distilled water and is used exclusively for face cleansing.

When you say, "face fountain" do you mean bidet?

Hahahaha

Iamthewombat · 07/09/2022 16:49

No, my face fountain stands in a miniature forest glade in the centre of my bathroom. It’s got baby fawns and everything.

Iamthewombat · 07/09/2022 16:50

And naiads.

Exactly !!!!

How dirty is your face??

Are you one of these people who also believes to have a bath is to stew in one's grime?

tellyiscrap · 07/09/2022 16:58

@Leafy3 emm no , I like a bath now and then
I can quite honestly say I've ever struggled to brush my teeth and wash my face together so I'm not quite sure what you are getting at ?

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/09/2022 17:55

DH and I now have an en-suite. As it's only us we keep the sink sparkling! We live in a very hard water area and each wipe out the sink after we've used it with cloths from Lakeland for that very purpose - a microfibre cloth and a shining cloth.

I register fairly high on the slattern-o-meter but if you're wearing make up, you're just sluicing your face in grubby make up water, if you fill the sink. Also, it's easier to run the tap and splash, rather than bother your arse to fill a sink.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 07/09/2022 18:41

This is hilarious 😆
Clean your sink of toothpaste. Cleanse face. Couldn't be easier

Are your diamond shoes too tight too?

LOL

purfectpuss · 07/09/2022 19:03

I heard it all now! Surely you just rinse the toothpaste away with the hot water before filling the basin? Skin is not sterile!

BTW- you do realise you actually have saliva in your mouth! - it's on your lips too! You even have snot on your top lip every time your nose runs a bit too!

How can anyone be bothered about about using a sink they brushed their own teeth in?

MzHz · 07/09/2022 19:12

<shrug> we’ve got an enormous bathroom and chose to share a sink, it works well! You can make this work, obviously everyone needs to rinse after themselves, whoever is last in the shower squeegee the shower screen/tiles etc

my advice tho is if there are drawers under, make it so that you don’t have to move out the way when you want to get whatever potion you want to use next or he wants his razor.

NewYorkLassie · 07/09/2022 20:43

Surely it’s a massive waste of water to fill the sink to wash your face?! Just run the tap and splash some water on your face!

I think it depends on the size of your face! .

Yeah what if you have a massive one??

purfectpuss · 08/09/2022 07:21

Unless you have a mixer tap it's not practical to rinse directly from the tap as the the water is either too hot or too cold. I don't think it saves water either- whichever way you do it the tap will be running for a given amount of time to rinse.

I double cleanse so need two sinks full- although I don't fill the sink very high each time. I would never have a mixer tap as you can't use it as well with a tap sticking out right in the middle. I hate it when you go to hotels and you have to try to get face near the sink from the side because of the silly big tap right in the middle of a tiny sink.

GobbolinoTheWitchesCat · 08/09/2022 07:27

I also double cleanse...I don't stick my head in the basin though 🤔

RampantIvy · 08/09/2022 07:36

Do you actually dunk your face into a sink full of water? Really?

Why can't you just run the tap and splash your face using your hands or use a flannel?

This is one of the oddest threads I have seen for a while.

Leafy3 · 07/09/2022 22:35

Op could be the face of Boe

FusionChefGeoff · 08/09/2022 08:17

When I use exfoliating wash, I would waste gallons of water if I left it running whilst splashing before I got it all off.

It's much less wasteful in that scenario to fill the sink a bit (to exactly the correct temp as we don't have mixer taps) then I splash from the sink until all the bits are off.

I don't dunk my whole face in Grin

OhMerde · 08/09/2022 08:36

This is indeed a most enlightening thread. How are people so strange? It's no wonder this country is in such a mess if there's so much angst about washing your bloody face.

EspeciallyDivided · 08/09/2022 08:41

Surely you just use a flannel for removing cleansers, exfoliating washes etc?Splashing with water seems to be a very inefficient way of doing it.

Thisbastardcomputer · 08/09/2022 08:47

I took double sinks out and replaced with one sink, two were pointless

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 08/09/2022 09:04

I've got evening and morning routines which involve lotions and potions and a sink.

I usually brush my teeth first, give the sink a quick rinse and use my hand in the basin. Then wash my hand. Then apply cleanser, rinse it off with water from the tap. Apply various potions. Wash hands and done.
