ffs OP, I was at least hoping you'd link to something like these colourful leggings. Olive green skinnies, yeah, you're fine as long as you feel comfy on them.

Am I took old to wear these at 38?
Glitteratitar · 22/08/2022 21:05

I’m a few years younger than you and ordered them just two weeks ago!

Great trousers! Definitely not too old!

Chilleddays · 22/08/2022 21:07

To answer I wasn't asking because they are skinny jeans.

I tried these on in the shop and the zips are quite noticeable also the colour.

I'm probably being really silly, I put on a couple of stone after having dc2 and spent quite a few years wearing nothing but black leggings and long t-shirts, I've lost a lot of weight the last couple of years I'm finding the confidence again to actually wear nice clothes, I've completely overhauled my wardrobe with pretty skirts dresses, culottes but sometimes still question whether I should wear something.

OP posts:

It was more the zips on the legs rather than them being jeans. I saw a mum on the school run wearing nearly identical ones but I'd guess she was 10 years younger than me.

Skinny's are dated.

What would you wear them with? Trainers or boots? A plain top?

I've been wearing skinny jeans since 1978.

Honestly, nobody cares. Wear what you want with what you want. Go to a shop, buy stuff you want, wear it. Job done. Wear it with whatever boots you want. Or trainers you want. Or tops you want.

I love these 😍 I’m late 30s and would wear them

RhubarbAndMustard · 22/08/2022 21:16

Yup. 42 and wear this kind of thing every day.

TheOGCCL · 22/08/2022 21:21

The 38 bit is irrelevant, it’s more do you feel comfortable and confident and like the style.

Cargos are big for A/W. Skinnies not so much.

AlisonDonut · 22/08/2022 21:26

The angst over a pair of bloody trousers.

mynameiscalypso · 22/08/2022 21:33

I'm sitting opposite my nearly 70 year old mother who has prominent zips on her trousers tonight. You're all good.

TitInATrance · 22/08/2022 21:34

60 plus, I’d wear the colour and the zips but skinnies are so dated, I feel frumpy in them.

You wear what you feel good in. If you want to wear them, do it. If you’ll always feel they aren’t quite right for you - perhaps you are more classic and sophisticated nowadays, more of a capsule wardrobe person, perhaps you like skirts more - don’t get them, you’ll never be quite relaxed.

WendyAndDave · 22/08/2022 21:36

It’s a pair of trousers Confused

EtnaVesuvius · 22/08/2022 21:38

It depends on your figure, not your age.

Beelezebub · 22/08/2022 21:40

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t be ok

pistachi0nuts · 22/08/2022 21:41

It's true about the skinny jeans....they're looking so dated! I wouldn't be seen dead in skinnys anymore but I truly believe what you feel best in you look best in so if you feel good in these, go for it! They're perfectly nice! Would wear with a slightly loose plain top (maybe boxy white tee) and trainers to sort of balance out the skinny bottom half.

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/08/2022 21:42

No. They are just skinny jeans in another form.

Whataday247 · 22/08/2022 21:45

I’d say you wear what you like but Just out of interest, what age would you say there were for!?

Mrssophie · 22/08/2022 21:46

Yeah abso-bloody-lutely fine!

SnoozyLucy7 · 22/08/2022 21:51

You can wear what ever you want at any age.

MatildaJayne · 22/08/2022 21:54

My only problem with high waisted jeans is that the waist rolls down when I sit down! 😂

Floweryflora · 22/08/2022 21:58

My 55 year old mate has those. I actually had to look hard as I wasn’t actually sure what you were talking about they are a bog standard pair of coloured jeans.

Howdoidothisanymore · 22/08/2022 21:59

I’d wear them and I’m nearly 60 lol!!

LaTangerina · 22/08/2022 22:00

No go for it, you'll look amazing!

AlisonDonut · 22/08/2022 22:00

What even does dated mean?

Women have worn skinny trousers since the 50s, so what date in the last 70 years does a pair of skinny trousers signify that is relevant enough to you to not be seen dead in a pair?

This sort of utter nonsense is what makes normally sensible women throw perfectly good clothes away lest the school mums die of the shock of seeing another woman in The Wrong Trousers.

Floweryflora · 22/08/2022 22:00

To be fair though you should probably give the cullottes a miss. 😄

ShirleyJackson · 22/08/2022 22:02

I’ve had a couple of pairs of jeans just like them for years. I wear them a lot in winter.

I’m ten years older than you. Take it from me - you really can wear what you like, when you like. No-one cares.
