As subject says, I'm after some trendy but comfy trainers (not for walking/exercise in) but more for wearing with dresses etc.

Any ideas please? Don't mind if white or not.

Ridiculously expensive, don’t look all that, look cheap, the bubbles pop eventually, I’ve had many variations of Air Maxs, bubbles would pop or haze. Unless you’re buying their ACG range I think Nike quality has gone right down the pan, the last couple of pairs I had from their standard range went to bits in no time. You don’t need to spend £145 on a good supportive quality pair of trainers, I’ve got New Balance, Asics, Diadoras, Merrells all very good quality with excellent support/comfort/don’t rub, paid no more than £25, certain models of the first few brands look very cool/stylish with leggings/joggers/jeans/dresses/skirts or smart trousers. You’d be crackers to pay that for those Nikes.

High tops are good as you can fit orthotic inserts in

RampantIvy · 05/08/2022 13:10

Can't bring myself to wear sketchers

I agree that some Skechers shoes are hideous, but I don't think they deserve the reputation that they have among the mumsnet fashionistas. I bet if you removed the logos or anything that identifies the brand of any trainer that some of the Skecher designs would be up there with the most trendy.

And you can't argue that Skechers make insanely comfortable footwear.

The brands I have mentioned do trendy styles, try Google, good luck.

I think I'm going to go with these and try specially made insoles on trainers with removable insoles.

I honestly don't like that many of the other trainers (sorry if that sounds harsh).

Don't just get air max get Nike 'wear all days' they are brilliant- I had PF when pregnant and they saved me and cheaper than air max.

@Fuckitydoodah I had sciatica and the only thing I found comfortable were Skechers Uno. Forgot the go walk range, awful. I get two pairs a year. I currently have rose gold, black, white, dark red, the special edition with heart graffiti on sole and just bought the ones with the shimmery bit at the back. They work a treat but no other in the Skechers range have

@GonnaGetGoingReturns Next online have the Nike wear all day

RampantIvy · 05/08/2022 18:09

How do you manage to be so heavy on your footwear? All of my shoes last for years.

LiveLaughLoaf · 05/08/2022 19:34

I have Birkenstock white trainers that I’ve worn for about 5 years and they’re only just looking scruffy. They go with every thing and are so comfy. My PF starts flaring up if I wear anything other than Birks or shoes with my orthotic insoles in, however cushioned they are.

icywaterfall · 07/08/2022 07:31

@RampantIvy they are the only outdoor shoes I wear. So when I get a new pair, an older pair gets relegated to beach and dog walking, gardening, shopping, football etc. The newer pair get to go to the pub or restaurant. I also wear a pair at home during the working day on a physio's advice. When I don't have them on at home I'll wear Birkenstocks as slippers

superram · 07/08/2022 07:36

Never walk bare foot, I have vionic slippers. I also wear vionic trainers or brooks with an indoor. I found fitflop quite firm whilst that is good, I found it painful.

Cantchooseaname · 07/08/2022 07:45

I have used these for years:
yoursole.co.uk

you put the insole in the oven to warm it, put it in your shoe, and then wear it as it cools and it moulds to your feet. The insoles last ages- I’ve had daily wear for more than 5 years- I’m not a marathon runner, but not inactive either.

Galliano · 07/08/2022 08:07

I’m with you on rejecting all the sensible old ladyish trainers recommended and also prefer Nikes, I just try to choose carefully for foot pain. I find af1 very comfortable though possibly too ubiquitous and beloved of 13 year olds. I like the pair you have selected but it depends what dresses you wear - they’d look good with a plain coloured jersey shirt dress but maybe less so with a floral midi. ASOS doesn’t have a great range - worth downloading the Nike and snkr apps to get more view of what’s available.

FredaFox · 07/08/2022 08:34

Agree with you re the suggestions.

I suffer with pf off and on. I did get nasty ugly work shoes from Clark's, I felt very self conscious in them thankfully I can wear trainers at work now
My go to trainers are Nike Air Force ones, I use orthotic inserts when my pf is bad
I also use them in boots.

Get good inserts and you can wear any trainer. Converse are very flat, I do wear adidas superstars but some inserts are too high in them. Look for thicker soles and high coverage at the back of your foot
