I would’ve said 14, not seeing 16 on the bottom but maybe the angle and don’t know that store and it sometimes depends on your shape and the fit. Primark jeans - sizes are small.

Without commentating on your size. What was the age of the person that made the comment ?
I ask this because if elderly , UK sizing has really changed over the years by a fair bit.
I used to volunteer in my local charity shop and we had some vintage clothing in. They were 50s / 60s . The size 12s were more like our 8s and were tiny.

Nothing helpful to add, except you've got a great figure. Everything nicely in proportion and enviable legs and boobs.

Depends on your height

Your legs look more slender than your top half. I would of guessed 12 in a top and 10 to 12 in trousers.
