Has anyone managed to get rid of/reduce natural dark under eyes?

I have naturally dark under eyes and being pale means they show up even more. They are awful and look like iv been punched. I hate being seen with no makeup on as I look so bad.

has anyone managed to reduce theirs? I’m pretty desperate!

Bumping

Yes through a combination of not looking in the mirror and make up occasionally.

hugoagogo · 25/07/2022 07:46

Not really. Maybelline eraser thing helps a bit.

PotatoFamily · 25/07/2022 07:54

I’ve spent years dealing with mine with various products. Started getting tear trough filler a year ago. It lasts 8-12 months. I had it done last July and I’m back in having it done again tomorrow.

Brawoe1 · 25/07/2022 08:40

@PotatoFamily I came across that googling… I’m guessing it made some difference if you are going back again?

Mine disappeared when I stopped drinking alcohol.

PotatoFamily · 25/07/2022 09:07

@Brawoe1 i wouldn’t say it was a shocking difference but I no longer needed layers of concealer, I looked fresh and awake, in photos I looked younger. At £250 for a year, I think it was a bargain, and it didn’t hurt at all.

Brawoe1 · 25/07/2022 09:10

@PotatoFamily yes that’s the other thing, with my make up I have to use a lot and it doesn’t look good at all! What is it like straight after you have it done? Do you have to go into hiding?!?

my diet etc is good so I can’t do much else it terms of what I’m eating and drinking plus I don’t smoke. I do think it’s genes as my mum is similar

@Brawoe1 i guess everyone is different but I didn’t even bruise! You have a tiny little entry site at your cheekbone, that’s it. The week after you have to up your water intake as it improves the result, it takes a week to ‘set’. I’m going to drink shit loads this time.

@PotatoFamily I bruise like a peach 🙄iv been reading about when you smile and the filler messing up your smile lines… does it look different when you smile or I’m guessing that is maybe if it has been out in the wrong place?

I would never have filler anywhere else, never had Botox for my wrinkles or my lips done, I don’t like the way it makes you look rubbery(I quite like my wrinkles, I’m 44 so not doing too bad!).
This is like a tiny patch that lifts your skin away from the dark blood vessels, it creates a barrier between the two. I could feel it under the skin when applying moisturiser etc. that’s it. I know it needs redoing now as I can no longer feel it.

I just took a before photo ready for comparison tomorrow and they are TERRIBLE 🤣

ZealAndArdour · 25/07/2022 09:27

I’m interested in tear trough fillers too, but my aesthetics lady won’t do them, she thinks we need to fill my cheeks first to replace some lost volume (have recently lost a LOT of weight and still losing) and see if that corrects the under eyes. She won’t even do the cheeks till my weight is stable as she says it’s pointless.

I read lots of talk about the potential complications of tear troughs, but can’t find out specifically what they are, were any possible problems explained to you when you had them? Is it to do with migration of the filler? Or just that the filler lasts so long in that area that you are stuck with a tiny problem for much longer?

PotatoFamily · 25/07/2022 09:33

The lady I go to uses HA filler which is a naturally occurring product. They warn you about bruising and swelling but honestly, I had none. She definitely went for a less is more approach.

PotatoFamily · 25/07/2022 09:34

She was also really honest with me about whether I was a suitable candidate, people with puffy eyes generally aren’t, it’s the bags that it treats, not puffiness.

CallmeMrsPricklepants · 25/07/2022 09:37

Yes, iron supplements! Don't assume they're 'natural'

Phrenologistsfinger · 25/07/2022 09:46

yes! Nutrients/supplements did it for me! Had them all my life, apparently genetic in my family. Am on a very comprehensive supplement regime for IVF and they have gone! Bags still there but skin is a normal colour! Not exactly sure what supplement but either it’s antioxidants, b vits, electrolytes or mitochondria boosting stuff. Sorry I can’t pinpoint it better! But it is doable, quite a shock to me…

Phrenologistsfinger · 25/07/2022 09:47

(The one thing I’m not on is iron as I have too high levels of that)

Brawoe1 · 25/07/2022 11:45

@PotatoFamily can I see the photos?? Don’t worry if not. I have contacted a place near me (not beauty they are medical) so I’m going to have a few consultation with them and have a chat. I don’t think (unless they correct me otherwise!) mine are puffy, it’s dark circles. I remember in primary school being told off for wearing eye shadow when I wasn’t as my eye lids used to be white purple, although they aren’t as bad now.

I eat well and I do take nutrients, drink mainly water so not sure what else I can do in that respect.

@PotatoFamily sorry I must have missed that! On the phone and those stupid banners get in the way! That’s great! I’d be pleased with even a small improvement.

This. I have dark circles and this has helped me a bit

Useyourfork · 25/07/2022 15:01

Instead of using a concealer I switched to a liquid facial bronzer mixed with a little grape seed oil, used under eyes and over my face. I found it made my dark circles less noticeable.

Buffyspike · 25/07/2022 16:32

I haven't found anything yet. Had them since 8 years old and no puffiness. I'm going to try PRF in the future. I know allergies can cause dark circles sometimes.

stupidly · 25/07/2022 16:39

Yes! An iron transfusion and cutting out caffeine.

I look completely different to a year ago.
