They seem to have some lovely dresses in there, but I wonder how they look IRL? Is it a case of ending up sending them all back?

For everyone comparing to Zara, H&M etc, Shein is on a completely different level.

Article is from early April - over 300,000 styles added in around 3 months. It's insane.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Curve stuff. Fitted me perfectly.

I can't believe anyone shops here when it's so clearly environmentally disastrous. Do you not care at all?

IheartJKRowling · 26/07/2022 18:27

Everything that has happened over the last couple of years, major organisations and institutions apologising for the part they played in slavery hundreds of years ago but slavery is alive and well and thriving in China and the response from some of the Mumsnet users? We don't care, mudt have cheap dresses, lots of shiny new things.

You can buy ethically from Ebay, Vinted, Facebook, Depop, Shpock, charity shops, car boot sales, dress agencies, unlimited places. Rather than make pathetic excuses like "I can't afford ethical clothing" at least be honest and say "actually I don't give a fuck about slavery, child exploitation or global warming, as long as I can keep on buying new crap clothing from Shein".

Do any men use Shein? The unethical bastards.....

Floisme · 26/07/2022 19:02

I'm a bit uncomfortable telling posters where they should or shouldn't shop when I know nothing about their income or their circumstances. What I will say is this: Please don't fob it off on charity shops when you've finished with it, because it's starting to pop up round here and it's really not fair expecting volunteers to spend time processing such utter shite when they can't charge more than a fraction of fuck all for it.

I would buy from Shein, however the reviews put me off.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 24/04/2023 07:54

I've bought really lovely things from there

Read the reviews though and check the pictures to see what it looks like on realnpeople.

Returns are easy, just fill in the online form take to the post office.

I've bought dresses, jeans, tops

I bought a lot in shein, I started during pandemic because all the shops were closed. Yes it's cheap but quality is so so bad it hurts. It's the type of stuff you have to throw away after two washes literally. It looks great on photos though but what you get looks nothing like the picture although they have a nice photo review section were you get a nice idea of the garment but still. I always end up returning 90% of the shopping because the quality is so bad or the sizes are not right. I'm buying less and less from Shein because of that reason, these days I just go to the shops and try things on, I'd rather spend more on an item that will last me two years than some rubbish dress I have to throw away after 3 washes.
