An outfit to make him regret it

I know the advice is 'the best revenge is being happy...' but meanwhile, in the real world Wink

I've have dinner and drinks with an ex next week. He did nothing wrong but did break my heart for complicated but good hearted reasons (children).

So I need an outfit that clearly says 'yes I'm sexy but I've not tried too hard'.

I'm coming from work so can get away with being dressed up, so I'm thinking a dress with summer sandles.

Requirements are it has to skim an (increased since we dated) size 18 body with massive boobs. I'm 30, with warm colouring that suits darker colours on the whole.

Any ideas?

I think the satin is lovely but unless you're habitually very glam, it also shrieks 'made a huge effort and treating this as a date' to me.
Personally I'd go for something much more understated. A dress that is barely noticeable in its own right, but makes your body, hair and skin look their best. So a superb fit and flattering colour over statement.

ImAvingOops · 22/07/2022 09:28

How about a shirred top dress with a square neckline?
I bought this one - it's navy even though it looks black in the pic. It's nicer on than it appears in their pic, but there are lots of these ones around at the moment. I think they look like you could wear it to work and not too try hard.

As you are meeting directly from work, this, I'm fairly sure is work appropriate and would work well with some red/yellow/green accessories like a brooch or a neck scarf or really brightly coloured footwear.

Maybe this:

anti static slip under a satin dress helps

Im size 16/18 with F cup boobs and struggle to get wrap dresses that cover properly so I imagine a J cup would be pretty difficult. I’d just wear something quite simple, understated and chic. The last thing I’d want is to look like I’d made some huge effort. ( and unless you work in a casino a satin wrap dress is going to look pretty OTT). I have 2 loose dresses from Kin and Arket that I really love with a nice weighty fabric but they’re not available now. This one is a flattering shape but might be too informal. But would look great with hoop earrings and bangles perhaps

This is the Arket dress but sadly out of stock but a really easy shape to wear.

Maybe a silly question, but do you not have an outfit in your wardrobe that may trigger a reminder of a great weekend for the past or something? An outfit he has commented on before.

That will be more of a reminder of what he's missing that anything!

NotTodaySatan654 · 22/07/2022 10:47

A nice slightly lower cut tea dress would look good. Nothing oversized. Something to hug your figure

Yes I have wondered this, this issue is the weight gain. I may come back with pictures of options!!

Most of the items posted are just not me so I think I'd feel self conscious in them. Shapeless dresses make me feel bigger than I am, and the bra issue really counters a lot of 'in' looks!

Do we think this is too boring? www.asos.com/closet-london/closet-london-wrap-tie-mini-dress-in-black/prd/202231205?clr=black&colourWayId=202231206&cid=16948

I'd go for red @SavingsThreads even if it's a deeper shade. Men can't resist a woman in red

That is gorgeous.

So far as the satin ones on page 1 I agree "unless you're habitually very glam, it also shrieks 'made a huge effort and treating this as a date" (and look a bit desperate - full disclosure I also think they're awful)

KimWexlersPonyTail · 22/07/2022 13:53

What DasAlt said. You could look desperate and it will massage his ego if you go to these lenghts. If he saw you out with someone else dressed like that it might make him wonder. Also, say you need to dash off quite early as you have somewhere to be.

Gymnopedie · 22/07/2022 14:06

I'm coming from work so can get away with being dressed up, so I'm thinking a dress with summer sandles.

OP is this a typo, and should read can't get away with being dressed up? Or at least not to the extent of some of these dresses? So what you want is at the dressiest end of suitable workwear but still says 'this little thing that I threw on this morning' If I'm right, what's your job/work environment?

SavingsThreads · 22/07/2022 14:14

We're trying to be friends so it's not about playing games and pretending to dash off, just about feeling I look great!!

It wasn't a typo, i habitually have to wear dresses and heels for work, including summery floaty things, though nothing backless or draping like some of these!

OP posts:
NotTodaySatan654 · 22/07/2022 14:15

I disagree that you will look desperate if you make an effort. It's nothing to do with massaging anyones ego. If you want to look good you're doing it for you to give you a confidence boost. Also men are visual at the end of the day.

Inthesameboatatmo · 22/07/2022 14:21

I'm an 18 with E Cup boobs and I'm 5'7. I find empire line dresses much more flattering as they accentuate the boobs bit skim over any belly or unwanted curves I may have .
