I bought a very pretty (I think) new dress for my birthday celebrations next week. I got the turquoise one shown here

I paid much more than this for it (grrr) but I would never have bought it online as I needed to see it on me (so not so grrr!)

looks much nicer on that in that picture, and is 97% silk so feels totally gorgeous

it looks great everywhere but I have rather minor norkage and so need some kind of magically enhancing bra system to give me some help - any suggestions?

also, what style necklace would best suit this neckline? I would like to buy something handmade, either from our very talented mn crafters or on etsy but am not sure whether to go shortish of longer and danglier?

was looking at this with these earrings what do you think?

now, shoes - I would like some pewter or dark silver peeptoe shoes. Something quite 50s and glamourous - Anyone know where I could find such a pair? or have any other suggestions?

(think I may be off to buy the chocolate one from that site now, I dithered so much over turquoise vs chocolate in the shop and for £23 I think I may just take the choco too, it was gorgeous!)

good thinking batman!

will get the earrings then, as long as we are all happy with them..

(I don't have too much choice actually as I need clip on ones and pretty clip ons are damn hard to find!)

tights, omigawd, tights - what the hell do I do? I only ever wear thick ones or lacey wooly ones with boots, those won't do

hey oblomov - they have the chocolate in a 14 - get it - you won't regret it! £18 is an absolute bargain - it was initially marked £110 in the shop I bought mine in yesterday (I got mine half price in the sale) and the quality is such that £110 didn't feel TOO expensive for it. Is really lovely fabric

would love to but any I've ever tried are most unflattering. And I mean REALLY. Along with the large arse I mentioned come some enormous thighs (told you above the knee was no good) so the top of the hold ups digs right in and leaves fold of flesh where they shouldn't be seen. Shame really as DH bought me some gorgeous Agent Provocateur ones last xmas and I could never wear them...(and he isn't that kind of guy normally so I was thrilled with the thought)

but stockings with suspender might work, they'd be looser wouldn't they? would be in keeping with th e50s vibe too, but would suspender belt kill me? (will also probably be wearing magic knickers of some description so might be bad combo...)

oh, the glamour of it all

that site does look good - but your links are just taking me to front page

I did look at cinchers/corsets thinking they'd do away with magic knicker need and provide something to hold up stockings but they were all in white (no thanks, reminds me of my auntie sheila!) except for one which had a bit too much embellishment and frills going on eto let me imagine being able to wear it under a fairly clingy dress

realised blue dress had small tear in it so brought back to shop and now have the brown one instead. It looks lovely (and I think the neckline actually looks better in the brown) so am now going to buy those peeptoes in bronze instead of silver. Will still go with same earrings.
Was tempted to press for refund and buy the dress online for £30 cheaper but you never know, this one fits like a glove (and needs to in that style) but there would be a risk involved in buying off net and it not fitting right. Am sure I did the right thing and must now pretend I never saw it cheaper online.

Just to update anyone who might be interested!

I may just buy the turquoise too you know - I can get it online for £25 and as this is the nicest dress I have ever seen myself in having two seems only sensible

good luck with losing weight - would love to advise on an outfit at any time...
