Thermavein treatment

Is anyone who has had thermavein treatment on their face willing to share their experience and also give a rough idea of what they paid?

I'm seriously considering this for the thread veins on both cheeks and side of my nose. I have rosacea and despite treatment for it, the veins don't go away.

I'm interested in this. I've booked a consultation for next month. Mine is called "diathermy" but apparently ThermaVein has less chance of scarring/burns.

isitme111 · 17/07/2022 17:11

I am interested in this as well. I had IPL laser many many years ago which was quite effective, needs doing again though as the veins have reappeared. A beauty clinic suggested Thermavein but I dont know much about it.

MsDastardley · 17/07/2022 17:47

I was advised to try Veinwave, but not booked yet. Just done a quick search and Thermavein is £150 for first session for facial veins, which includes consultation. I am in North West. I’ve had IPL and electrolysis, the latter was most effective but it’s a bit of a trek to the salon.

WeAreTheHeroes · 17/07/2022 20:38

Thanks everyone. I did find a price list for a place in Knightsbridge and even there it didn't seem too pricey. I'm going to book a consultation as it's been bugging me for several years now.

I’m a bit late to this party! I had IPL for redness on my face but it left behind some red veins. Someone recommended thermavein and it worked perfectly. I would recommend!

ChinBristles · 20/07/2022 10:20

@MicroC did the IPL CAUSE thread veins?!
I have general redness on the nose as well as the thread veins.

MicroC · 20/07/2022 11:01

No! They were hidden in the redness, but when the redness went the veins were really noticeable!

Has anyone had Thermavein treatment at Dr Newman's in Manchester or Veincentre Ltd's Stoke clinic? Currently weighing up the two. Veincentre offers Saturday appointments which suits me as I'd rather not use holiday. I'd prefer to be treated by a doctor rather than a beauty therapist.

@MicroC thanks!

MicroC · 20/07/2022 12:54

I’ve heard great things about the Vein centre. All doctors and nurses. I haven’t been there myself though!

MsDastardley · 20/07/2022 20:45

Ive booked a consultation in August. Will report back

WeAreTheHeroes. I’ve had varicose vein treatment at Veincentre, and they were excellent. Stoke is nearest place where the offer Veinwave but it’s a bit of a trek. I’ve found a nurse practitioner nearer to home who does Thermavein, so booked in there. It’s also about half the price. I went to Dr Newmans clinic many years ago and was disappointed. I only had a patch test done but didn’t proceed as was put off as clinic was extremely busy and had to wait ages. Might be better now though

WeAreTheHeroes · 20/07/2022 21:35

I'm equidistant from Stoke and Manchester. I emailed the Veincentre in Stoke today. They were less salesy than Dr Newman's and seemed to be more interested in giving me more info and advising whether I'd be a suitable candidate for the treatment. They've suggested I send them some photos for the nurse to look at. I'll do that tomorrow.

I’ve just had a quick look at Dr Newman clinic website, and I think they may be franchises or similar now. The one in Manchester is at a private medical clinic. Originally Dr Newman ran a clinic in Bolton, but that doesn’t seem to be there now. He’s probably retired by now.

I think the Veincentre treatments are done by a nurse btw, but she is very experienced in this. She did some scelotherapy on my legs.

If it’s ok with you, I’ll message you with details of where I’m going. I don’t have many veins on face, but do have one stubborn one near my nose which keeps coming back!

MsDastardley · 20/08/2022 14:44

Update. Had a treatment today. I was nervous about having facial veins treated so chose to just have a few small areas done. As it happened I didn’t need to worry as face settled down quickly and I just look like I’ve got a bit of a rash going on. I’ve been told there may be some darker marks as the veins die off. The treatment was quite uncomfortable but not unbearable.

I also had veins on my back treated (apparently an odd place to get them) and a test area on my thigh. These areas look a bit redder than my face. I’m interested to see how the leg veins react as I be got a few more I’d like treating.

The lady who treated me was lovely, very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. She is a registered nurse and her salon is registered with the CQC. Apparently Thermavein uses Vein Wave technology, and is very similar.

The salon I went to is not too far outside Manchester. The cost was very reasonable, less than half of Vein Wave. If anyone wants details please PM

It’s early days, so so far all good

WeAreTheHeroes · 20/08/2022 16:45

Interesting and thank you. Will you please update in a few days' time? I've not got very far as we e been having work done on the house and my mind's been elsewhere.

Yes of course. I’ve just taken a selfie, and although I’m a bit red I can see a big improvement. The veins that bothered me have disappeared, although I have been warned they could start to look darker for a few days. I wish I had had more done now. I’m booked for a follow up in 6 weeks which is minimum they recommend between treatments.

I’m day 5 since the treatment and my face is on fire! Dreadful burns on and inside my nose. Black deep scab on forehead and hard lumps and crusts on cheeks. Had alo and antihistamine but just getting worse. Gp has just said to go to A&E looks like I might be permanently scars all over my face and I’m a beauty therapist!!

Oh no, that sounds awful. I was very anxious about having the treatment, and I told the therapist to go easy as I wanted to be able to leave the house…. I had a follow up treatment in November, and this time she did more work. I had a few areas of redness on my face, and tiny wounds which looked a bit like prickly heat. I didn’t have any burning. I didn’t put anything on my face for a couple of days, then I was able to user a bit of concealer. After a week I was look much better. I didn’t have any of the side effects you are describing, I am wondering if they have used a high setting?

I hope you feel better soon and things calm down quickly. Make sure you take photos in case needed.

1569leanne · 19/12/2022 20:54

Thank you for your comment and well wishes.
judt home from work and it’s still incredibly hot and sore.
I was told it would just be a little pink for a couple of hours after the treatment.
It is still burning tonight so will be going to A&E in the morning as the holes have burned deep in to my face and my nose looks awful!!

MicroC · 20/12/2022 07:09

You poor thing! Did the clinic put anything on you face before they did it? You must have had a reaction to that??

WeAreTheHeroes · 20/12/2022 08:04

I'm sorry you've had a bad experience 1569Leanne. Don't go to A&E - if you are happy to wait until the morning it's not an emergency unless your face swells or you've got an infection. The GP or pharmacist would be best.

It was the GP who said A+E though, a burns a burn at the end of the day & hospitals where the drs are with burn training.

Just go @1569leanne, the GP doesn’t have the skills to deal which is why they ref you.

1569leanne · 20/12/2022 11:30

I’m at the walk-in centre now at the hospital, if they can’t treat it I’ll be sent next door to A&E
they said it looks very sore!

1569leanne · 20/12/2022 11:32

The clinic e just said they cleaned my skin with an antiseptic wipe, then put alo gel on after.
I thunk the current might have been too high
