Sagging face and 45. What would you recommend? (Unflattering anonymised photo attached!)

I’m 45 and have lost volume in my face giving me quite deep circles under my eyes and lines from my nose to my mouth with marionette lines developing underneath. My pores are quite big and visible too.

I don’t get enough sleep - so that’s number one - but what else would you recommend?

Do collagen supplements actually work? Face massage?

I run, that’s my only exercise. Are things like yoga good for your face?! (All that upside down blood flowing etc).

What would a mini face lift do for me? Feels drastic but honestly, I’d love to lose those hollow eye bags forever!

Or expensive facials? A change of diet? I eat pretty well already. Lots of fresh food.

Help! I want to feel good about the way I look again!

Please excuse the absolutely awful photo!!

And stress/weight loss plays a part. I lost nearly 2st in lockdown and sadly my little face looked scrawny and quite unwell. I’ve gained much of it back (ffs!) and my face has “filled out” nicely. Sadly, so has my backside!

Ah. The face or figure dilemma!

A580Hojas · 12/07/2022 18:29

I think the only answer is probably facial exercise. There are various books and FB pages etc. Look at Eva Fraser for inspiration - she started in her late 50s. There's a You Tube with her on This Morning. She's passed on now but she was amazing.

krill · 12/07/2022 18:30

Agree @cottagegardenflower

You only really see them removed /dissolved if filler has migrated, most commonly lip filler.

GyozaGuiting · 12/07/2022 18:32

I wouldn't do anything to your face, you look fantastic.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 12/07/2022 18:42

You look good OP, most of us have wrinkles/saginess in that type of pose. Some ideas:
More sleep
Water / green tea
Lots of veg
Posture - engage your core, lengthen your stomach/torso, shoulders gently back, lift the back of your neck and top of your head towards the ceiling
Facial exercises or facial yoga
Sleep on your back if you can
I find that weight training helps tone everything incl my neck/face
I like a contraption I got on Amazon that you tuck under your chin and press down on, to tone neck/chin
Jade facial massage roller

goodgoodday · 12/07/2022 18:48

You don't remove fillers, they dissolve in 6-12 months.
@cottagegardenflower, people are finding they don't always though. Did you see that video of the YouTuber I linked to?

@krill, and this is absolutely an issue for some people.

krill · 12/07/2022 18:55

I suppose it can be. I'll have a look at your video.

cottagegardenflower · 12/07/2022 21:08

@goodgoodday I go to a reputable beautician/nurse and she won't inject under the eyes because it's problematic only the cheek area and safer areas. I am not advising having the eye area done because if you inject properly the eye area looks less noticeable. The YouTube video is talking about a very rare side effect and I've never heard of this happening to anyone. Rare side effects happen with the safest of drugs.

I'm saying nothing other than putting on weight or fillers will fill out her hollow cheeks. Eva Fraser done it and it works at firming the facial muscles but won't add much volume. Also time consuming and boring to do. Op doesn't need firming she needs volume. Food or filler only choice.

FortonServices · 12/07/2022 21:14

@Annoymousy

I had cheek fillers recently. It cost £800 for 2 rounds but will last 12-18 months. People who I haven't seen for a while always ask me if I've been on holiday recently, as I look refreshed. It doesn't look obvious.

I'll be going back for tear trough fillers I think.

If you live in the NW of England I can recommend someone. (Or if you want to travel to the NW).

WestHamAreMassive · 12/07/2022 21:26

Ok I so I haven't read all the comments as I cba but - I'm 50 and have the same issues as you. I'll post a pic if you like and see if you maybe would benefit from the same? (Different face shapes and types obviously play a part) I have all face (mid and chin) Botox as well as forehead and crows feet. I had cheek fillers 3 (I think) months ago and 0.5 lip filler.

Torres10 · 12/07/2022 22:11

Biggest single difference for me has been vitamin c, I take lipsomal to get super high absorption and put vit c serum on first every day., both great, though ingestion tops serum.
Collagen, not sure, I've dabbled but not convinced , I would rate 7hrs uninterrupted sleep more highly, and it's cheaper!

milkyaqua · 13/07/2022 01:52

You don't remove fillers, they dissolve in 6-12 months.

Actually recent MRI studies have shown this is incorrect. They migrate to other places, and they can sometimes linger for up to 12 years I think it was.

How do you think all those wealthy people developed "pillow face"?

milkyaqua · 13/07/2022 01:57

Eva Fraser at close to 80:

Your skin looks lovely OP

xogossipgirlxo · 13/07/2022 10:27

You have very nice skin. I think it needs a bit of massage to help with your concerns.

goodgoodday · 13/07/2022 10:54

Regarding fillers, this came up in my feed. I remember watching it before, it was why I said some celebrities were having fillers removed.

Cotswoldmama · 13/07/2022 11:25

I think your skin looks great. I've just started taking collagen supplements so I'm not sure if they're doing much yet or not. Weirdly I think my hands look younger! I have been using Skin and me subscription/ prescription for about two years now and I think that has improved my skin and is hopefully a good preventative for more wrinkles! I think as a couple of others have said Tretinoin works wonders but you have to start with a very low dose as its much stronger than retinol. I think skin and me has improved the texture of my skin and the redness I get around my nose. If you want a month free just £3.50 p&p you can use my code its:

They were giving a free moisturiser and cleanser too, I'm not sure if they still are. I think you have to add them to the basket with the daily doser.

What do you think that will do?

goodgoodday · 13/07/2022 12:45

What do you think that will do?

I'm guessing lymphatic drainage and stimulating circulation. Can help with any fluid retention, eye bags etc.

xogossipgirlxo · 13/07/2022 15:44

OhMerde · 13/07/2022 12:11

Can lift the face oval, deal with marionette lines, improve circulation. I bet your question is bit cheeky to start weird discussion, but you can easily find yourself before and after pictures.
