If you're a late 30's woman where do you shop?

After a disastrous shopping trip today I've no idea where I should be shopping these days.

I'm 37. All the shops seem to be either too young or too old.

The older section of H&M was full of tat, the younger section looked promising but full of teenagers.

River Island too full of bling. New look always has nice stuff but seem to be getting everything from there. Mango was nice but no sizes everything nice was either XS or plus size. Tried a shop called Apricot but it felt a bit old some of the prints were fuddy duddy.

mostly online tbh, I used stitch fix for a while and that’s worth a go

Otherwise zara, Reiss, M&S, mango, weirdly had some nice stuff from asda recently

PuffinMcStuffin · 08/07/2022 19:56

I'm following with great interest because I'm stuck.
I am 37 and can only shop online (no shops near me). I mostly buy from Gap, H&M and occasionally I panic buy from asos but instantly regret it. I need help!

marplemead · 08/07/2022 20:01

I'm late 30s. The brands I like are Oliver Bonas, COS, Arket, Weekday, & Other Stories, Monki, People Tree and Uniqlo. Mostly online in the sale or via Vinted. I do buy the occasional item in H&M from their premium collection. I will usually have a very specific item and fabric in mind when shopping, so don't tend to browse and try lots of things on.

FamilyGredunza · 08/07/2022 20:04

Zara and all saints - both have amazing sales on at the mo too.

Heroicallyl0st · 08/07/2022 20:06

I’m late 30s and struggling to find stuff I like lately too - I think it’s the fashions TBH - so many prairie style or ridiculously long dresses and unflattering boxy tops.

I go to John Lewis mainly - the And/Or range or Ro&Zo or Hush.

catfunk · 08/07/2022 20:17

H&M online for dresses, cos, monki for jumpsuits, arket, &other stories and Uniqlo for trousers.
Bit too fat for most of Zara's stuff.

catfunk · 08/07/2022 20:17

Oh and asos design

recklessgran · 08/07/2022 20:22

DD late 30's buys a lot of dresses from Hobbs - especially for work. She also likes &Other Stories, Zara and Mango although the latter has been a bit hit and miss lately. She really misses Oasis!

pastabest · 08/07/2022 20:28

I think the problem currently is the fashion generally. It's just not flattering for mum tums and breasts that have fed children.

IronChef · 08/07/2022 20:31

Late 30s (very, just clinging on Grin) and usually have to shop at online places that do Tall ranges so Dorothy Perkins, asos, New Look, long tall sally. I get a few bits from M and S now and again, sometimes Very and Oliver Bonas. I did find a few nice summery bits at Apricot and Sugarhill Brighton. I generally find everything far too floral or frumpy or frilly at the mo or just horrible viscose/poly blends that feel horrible, so lots goes back. I'd love to find some nice cotton summer clothes without all the fuss and flounce.

I miss Oasis too! It’s online now but owned by Boohoo I think and the quality/style has gone downhill.

bendmeoverbackwards · 08/07/2022 20:52

What’s your budget OP? I’m older than you but I like Whistles and Jigsaw. Expensive but they have good sales.

Mint Velvet and Hush are also worth a look.

DinosaurOfFire · 08/07/2022 20:52

I'm late 30's, and shop in Hollister, Urban Outfitters, H and M, and Primark mostly- I don't often buy new clothes, and when I do its based on what I enjoy wearing rather than what I 'should' be wearing or whats on trend/ 'age appropriate', I dress like a student from the late 90's/ early 00's most days as that's what I like and feel comfortable in- flared jeans, brightly coloured tops, bright dresses with leggings, mini skirt with a graphic Tshirt or vest top for eg.

maryanne22 · 08/07/2022 20:57

I go to next and primark

LadyLolaRuben · 08/07/2022 21:13

Next, H&M, Zara, New Look, River Island and M&S

Shoopshoopshoopshoopshoop · 08/07/2022 21:16

I am struggling without Oasis and Warehouse! I’ve strayed into Hush recently and got some nice bits, other stuff from H&M.

Shoopshoopshoopshoopshoop · 08/07/2022 21:19

Someone on here recommended Love and Roses as an Oasis substitute, can buy via the Next website.

I love the look of everything from Boutique Libertie but none of it would suit me.

maravais · 08/07/2022 21:21

Oliver Bonas, Cos, Arket, All Saints, Zara

honeyfox · 08/07/2022 21:23

Same here, I miss Warehouse. I use Uniqlo, H&M, Mint Velvet and tend to find bits on holidays around Europe. Buying very little the last couple of years. I'm 5'0, 44 and a size 14-16 and like grungy gothic stuff.

Cotswoldmama · 08/07/2022 21:33

H&m usually the divided range and asos- nobody's child and Wednesdays girl.

vestedinterests · 08/07/2022 21:34

Bam Bamboo, Lucy and Yak, Seasalt and Boden

vestedinterests · 08/07/2022 21:35

Oh and Toast in the sales

OxanaVorontsova · 08/07/2022 21:38

oasis and warehouse are still available online

ellesbellesxxx · 08/07/2022 21:46

Shein!

ProseccoStorm · 08/07/2022 22:11

Hush, Baukjen, John Lewis, EBay, whistles, jigsaw, sometimes Zara and Mango
