If you're a late 30's woman where do you shop?

After a disastrous shopping trip today I've no idea where I should be shopping these days.

I'm 37. All the shops seem to be either too young or too old.

The older section of H&M was full of tat, the younger section looked promising but full of teenagers.

River Island too full of bling. New look always has nice stuff but seem to be getting everything from there. Mango was nice but no sizes everything nice was either XS or plus size. Tried a shop called Apricot but it felt a bit old some of the prints were fuddy duddy.

Going through similar dilemma myself and same age as you. Next is sometimes good and you get a range of brands on there like Sugarhill Boutique, Roman, Ro&Zo.

Matildahoney · 09/07/2022 00:00

Also just clinging to my 30s! New Look always comes up trumps for me, primark, and supermarkets actually seem to be great at the moment.

JW13 · 09/07/2022 00:16

In terms of high street:
Zara (jeans and tops/shorts/tailoring)
H&M (for specific things like sundresses where the quality is actually pretty good, and surprisingly swimwear)
Cos/& other stories
Hush
ASOS design/Top shop at ASOS
Gap - basics

If I want something more special:
BASH (usually in the sale)
Anine Bing
Ganni

I miss trawling Oxford street Confused. Now order mostly online.

bash, Massimo Dutti, jigsaw, cos, sezane, the outnet, arket. It depends on what / where for and whilst I normally don’t find anything I like in there I’ve just got a beautiful summer dress from mint velvet.

dontgobaconmyheart · 09/07/2022 11:33

I'm 35 - generally shop in Zara & HM ( but you have to be very selective and look for the better quality pieces), &otherstories, Mango, LaRedoute, secondhand on vinted, arket and Sezane occasionally if I like something enough to justify the price. I do shop in Primark sometimes, mainly for PJ's but I do love their slim straight high waist jeans and got some black tailored shorts in there recently that are great. As with anywhere it's just a case of delving around to look for non see through fabrics and things that are slightly better made.

I never shop in them anymore but the last time I went in a New Look I was shocked at the rubbish quality of most things, so many cheaply made dresses in thin cheap fabrics.

Are you me? Lol. I'm also 37 and have no idea where to shop these days.

Everywhere is either full of crop tops and clothes for teenagers or seems old and fuddy duddy.

Depending on what you are looking for - Apricot does have some nice summer dresses, I've got a few from there which are really flattering and cool on the hot days.
I find i buy most of my clothes in the supermarkets these days - Tesco or Sainsburys. I don't enjoy clothes shopping anymore so it's just more a case of I might see something in Tesco I like when picking up my weekly shop.

Looking forward to some replies on here that might help me as well. You're not alone! Daffodil

roarfeckingroarr · 09/07/2022 11:55

Oliver Bonas, Uniqlo, & other stories, Ba&sh, occasionally asos

blueskyeve · 09/07/2022 12:09

I'm also 37. I shop at Hush, & other stories, Zara, Boden, Monki, Arket, Nobody's Child, Whistles, Stradivarius, Albaray, New Look, Mango

D0lphine · 09/07/2022 13:48

I shop at next online because they have SO much choice.

I get style ideas from various places but mainly people I see whilst out and about! If I see someone who looks good I take note!

I don't really worry about things being too young or too old. I just wear things that suit my body and I feel great in. I am defo influenced by fast fashion though, to my shame!

LeeMiller · 09/07/2022 14:06

Rouje, Sezane, &Other Stories, la Redoute, Réalisation Par, Ba&sh, Rixo.

I buy almost everything preloved via Vinted or eBay though.

And other stories

fruitypancake · 09/07/2022 14:12

Love mint velvet but $$$

CakePie · 09/07/2022 14:38

I do almost all of my shopping online: Zara, H&M, Asos, John Lewis, Mango, Mint Velvet, occasional Hush, Boden, Outnet/ net a porter. Occasionally I look into Next website but it's not very easy to use. I detest buying full price though, always look for a discount code if not on sale.

I get inspiration on Instagram as well, especially for dresses etc but don't wear them too much.

CakePie · 09/07/2022 14:39

+Whistles, Thread.

Jasmine5552 · 09/07/2022 14:44

Oliver Bonas is very good. Also I like M and S and Monsoon.

Mango had some lovely things in the sale....

I bought a snake print bias skirt, that I'll wear now with a cami and in the winter with a roll neck. I got a cotton cami top from Kit & Kaboodle, looks great with jeans and also got it in the stone. I got a long stone kimono from Manamou to wear now with white jeans, cami and tan - then I'll wear it with all black in the autumn.

I'm 36 and this is exactly how I feel at the moment

middleofthelittle · 09/07/2022 20:31

M&S has lot of decent stuff recently, and H&M. ASOS occasionally Topshop and on ASOS too.

florianfortescue · 09/07/2022 20:38

Jigsaw
Whistles
Reiss
Zara

... are my go to brands.

But at the moment I have small children and no time to shop so I get a Stitch Fix box once a month. I usually love everything in it. I have been really impressed with the service and the clothes.

Whitewolf2 · 09/07/2022 21:14

Next, FatFace, M&S sometimes Joules and Crew Clothing. I also miss Oasis, the online stuff is not the same!

DreamloverTealover · 09/07/2022 21:14

I'm just over mid 30s now and rarely see anything I like in shops with the exception of New Look and Dorothy Perkins.

In all honesty I've started buying from Vinted or looking round charity shops for more expensive/quality brands at second hand prices. I know the styles I'm liking aren't always in fashion though so don't always appeal.
