This wedding is looming. I truly believed I'd lose a couple of stones at least but instead I'm probably a size 20 top huge matronly boobs and a 14 on the bottom.
I have a dress that will do as a last resort but it's nothing special and not especially flattering.
I just don't know where to look.
TriedBomshell but I just don't like them
I am also very short.
I've looked endlessly at Hobbs phase eight joined a preloaded wedding outfit on Facebook but I honestly don't know where else to look.
I think I've left it too late for one of the MOG shops and they all look so frumpy.
Any ideas please I think I need a a bit of a shake really

Have a look on ebay. There's loads of bnwt wedding outfits at bargain prices.

Book a consultation with a stylist at John Lewis. They can help you and you may even enjoy the process, rather than dreading it!

i'm always in john lewis but because my top half is so huge they don't really have clothes to fit me . i could ask though

When you say you are short, what height are you? I'm was a size 20, 5'5" with an apple tummy and 46" bust. I'm not a fan of dresses but wanted to wear one for my dd's wedding in September. Normally my choice is ankle length to cover me up. My dd took me a fabulous shop in Dundee and they got me try on a dress that had a waist seam - that made all the difference and a scooped hem, which I would never have chosen in a million years. I normally go for a straight, knee length type of formal dress if I have to wear one. Balanced with a boat neckline and bracelet sleeves I felt fantastic. Price wise it was a step up from Hobbs, Coast, etc but I feel for me it was worth the price to feel so good. Also, I have to say that the first MOTB shop I went into York made me feel so uncomfortable, the second was lovely, but not my choice of dresses, but this one was spot on, in fact it was the first dress I tried on.

A posh top and fancy skirt combo might be more flattering if you have a large bust. Then it will accentuate your waist.

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/07/2022 19:38

Have you looked at Condici? They are very traditional and a bit pricey but go up to bigger sizes and are very flattering on

MaggieFS · 07/07/2022 19:46

Where do you live? Have you tried any independent bridal/mother of the bride shops or normal fashion boutiques?

carrotsnotsticks · 07/07/2022 20:12

i'm in london
i'm a very plain jane type of person but had a try on this morning and honestly felt like crying .
i'll look at what you've recommended
and i do realise my problems are of my own making

I have this jumpsuit from Roman (not high fashion I know 😁). I’m a similar shape and height to you. It’s silky and stretchy and it’s glamorous and flattering. Unfortunately it only comes in black, but could easily be dressed up with coloured accessories and jewellery.

I’m 5ft 0 and size 18 & wore a Gina Bacconi dress with super pants from under boob to knee. I felt great, it was a really flattering dress. Have you looked at that brand?

Do you have a colour in mind? www.boohoo.com/plus-occasion-lace-contrast-midi-dress/PZZ01453.html

Somebody recommended this on a previous similar thread and she said it was the best dress she had ever bought www.boohoo.com/plus-boutique-full-skirted-prom-midi-dress/PZZ09611.html?color=148

My Gina Bacconi dress was mid shin. It would have been better if I had got it turned up a turn of the hem, it wouldn’t have been too tricky or taken too long. There is a much bigger range on their own site.

Try Pretty Kitty, they are really flattering for big boobs. The Empire Swing dresses are great if you are an apple shape, with swishy skirts, or they have other styles if you are blessed with a flat stomach.
Their customer service is great, returns were easy, and the dresses are under £100.
