I've got a dress from this designer and they suit me.

OP posts:

I really like it too OP. Accessorise it though.
I can see it with a big red hat, handbag and red shoes

MuddlerInLaw · 23/06/2022 18:03

That is a fantastic dress.

Had a quick look at the site and can say quite honestly that the clothes are a million miles away from my own style. But if I were getting married this week I’d be thrilled and impressed if one of my guests turned up in the one you’ve chosen.

Striking, silk, such a lovely change from all the (too polite to mention) standard MN wedding guest labels. Please wear it!

LynneBenfield · 23/06/2022 18:03

OP, it’s isn’t too ‘worky’, buy it if you love it.

People are on unspeakably rude on here sometimes. The OP didn’t ask for opinions or insults re her taste.

Purplecatshopaholic · 23/06/2022 18:08

I love it op. I would totally wear that for work and styled appropriately for a wedding

cushioncovers · 23/06/2022 18:09

It's awful. Sorry op. Even if I liked it I wouldn't wear it to a wedding it's more suited to the office as you said.

prampushingdownthehighst · 23/06/2022 18:13

I think it's fabulous and if someone wore that to my wedding I'd be delighted

CPL593H · 23/06/2022 18:15

Depends on the accessories. A hat would need to be bold and big, IMO

Ladybug14 · 23/06/2022 18:22

I wouldn't wear it anywhere!

Numbat2022 · 23/06/2022 16:33

Not unless you're declaring your own love for Denmark? It is very flag-esque.

Not weddingy, for me.

😂😂😂

Exactly this. You'll look like one of the secretaries from Mad Men. They were all very glamorous though!

Lindy2 · 23/06/2022 18:30

It's a bold dress but I like it. I think some people have been rather harsh with their comments.

If you have the confidence to pick a bright red dress with a bold pattern, then I think you're going to absolutely rock it.

Go for it and enjoy the wedding.

Gwenhwyfar · 23/06/2022 18:36

I like it. As someone said, very 60s, but also a shift dress is classic. More interesting than the average office dress.

hugoagogo · 23/06/2022 18:58

I really like it and think it would be lovely for a wedding.
Very striking.

Augend23 · 23/06/2022 19:02

I think that's fabulous. I don't have the figure for shift dresses but I wish I did!

DomPerignon12 · 23/06/2022 19:07

I used to wear dresses like that to parties, because I didn’t have the money for both work and a party wardrobe.
Always looked out of place.

In theory yea, you ‘could’ pull it off. But why?

"Denmark" was my first thought too.

I think it's fine for a wedding though, as long as you're fine with people assuming you're a big fan of Denmark!

RubricEnemy · 23/06/2022 19:14

It's great. Love it.

ellieboolou · 23/06/2022 20:07

It's a bit worky but I also don't like it 🇩🇰

milkmilkeverywhere · 23/06/2022 21:51

Good Eurovision outfit, not good wedding outfit

User354354 · 23/06/2022 16:34

It looks like something from Austin powers.

And this is why I like it 😁

Red lips, done hsir and shoes, a hat if it’s a fancy wedding or you like them. And you will wear it a lot.

@DomPerignon12 because she needs a dress that works for both? I’m sure you look a treat in Giles Deacon, but given most people have to have clothes that do have to double up, the one thing I am sure of is the OP will not look out of place.

RevoltingHumanHead · 23/06/2022 22:01

I think wedding guest outfit recommendations on MN veer towards the 'buy a nice dress from Coast and wear a fascinator'. Zzzzzz...

No idea what Giles Deacon is.
’Most’ people don’t actually, they have party dresses.

Of course there are clothes than can double up easily but this isn’t one of them. The cut, collar and material make it look too professional.

Something more flowy, or more texturised would be better.

DomPerignon12 · 23/06/2022 22:20

@Luredbyapomegranate Also to add it probably depends on the type of wedding!
I showed up to a uni ball(?) event in something like that. Everyone around me in prom dress type clothing. I obviously didn’t fit. Same for a couple of weddings.
Taht was my first thought.

The other weddings were very casual and some even turned up in jeans in which case a dress looking like work wouldn’t really matter. Nobody would price anyway

MuddlerInLaw · 24/06/2022 06:13

If you do wear it, OP, please don’t ruin it with a big hat and / or loads of pointless bling.

I wonder if people are missing the fact that this dress is made of silk (and presumably properly lined). The luxurious fabric and the way it should hang clearly make it wedding-worthy. It’s complete in itself and doesn’t need decoration or embellishment. Just really cool grooming and uncomplicated accessories (bag, shoes) to complement it.

Honestly, all the other guests will be wondering why they didn’t choose something so simple and elegant!

balalake · 24/06/2022 07:12

Expensive for what it is and the limited occasions you could wear it.
