Non frumpy flat sandals

Sorry, another sandals post!
I need to upgrade my almost worn out summer sandals, but there’s so much to choose from. I want something flat ( but not too flat, like flip flop flat! ) and comfy enough to walk a lot in. But not too frumpy/mumsy. Was thinking maybe DM sandals or similar?
Basically I’m mid forties and starting to feel a bit boring and middle aged. I want something practical, but also a bit cool and fashionable to make me feel better 😁I also have quite small feet and thin ankles ( though my legs are fairly sturdy ) so not sure if chunky ones will work.

I do love a DM sandal, very comfortable if you get the fisherman’s style ones. Not as keen on the ones DM do with random glitter and bits of fluff on them, each to their own and all that, though.

rosyvalentine · 24/05/2022 23:27

The Fit Flop wedge Eloise ones are great. So comfortable! I can walk for miles in mine. And they're no more expensive than DMs. I was going to buy DMs but people say they take ages to break in. The ones I was thinking of buying also weigh a ton!

Cydonia · 24/05/2022 23:36

Thanks, I’ll look up the fit flop ones. I have heard the DM ones take a bit of breaking in, I don’t know if I’m up for that!

Accessorize usually do lots of pretty flat sandals

Fiftyand · 24/05/2022 23:42

Air and Grace sandals are very comfortable and definitely not frumpy!

TheChosenTwo · 25/05/2022 01:01

I find this impossible.
someone shared some on another thread that looked like BFG sandals 😳 they’re awful. I don’t know why sandals need to be so ugly - they need to be the opposite if we have to see any part of someone’s feet!!!

Cydonia · 25/05/2022 07:30

Well thank you, now I have BFG sandals in my head I’ll never find any 😂 I like the look of Birkenstocks on other people, but I have a big gap between my big toe and other toes and they just accentuate that.

I have these from New Look, love them. They come in other colours too. Very comfy!

If you have a big gap between your toes Birkenstock Gizeh with the toe post would look great and be comfy.

Cydonia · 25/05/2022 09:06

Ooh I like the New Look ones, cheap too!
Will also look at the others, thank you ☺️

How much do you want to spend? I saw some glorious ones on Farfetch but they were £££ so have been relegated to when I win the lottery 😂

Cydonia · 25/05/2022 09:40

Well, I don’t mind paying Doc Martin prices if they’re good quality, over £100 would be too extravagant I feel!

I think these are fab, have a pair every year (though they last longer - I just like having new ones to add to my collection). Lots of colours, insanely comfortable, and though they’re not a “walking” sandal, I walk long (urban) distances in them with no problems - I basically wear them all summer.

Moshulu wasabi sandals

poopyface · 25/05/2022 10:35

I’ve just been looking at the seasalt range - there are some that are flagged as better for wide feet, I have very wide feet anyone know if they are comfy?

poopyface · 25/05/2022 10:36

Saltwater even!!

Cydonia · 25/05/2022 11:34

Love the moshulu ones, I just think they might be a bit flat/thin soled. I’m short and also tend to “stomp” in very flat shoes so I think I need a thicker sole.

Jumping in to ask if anyone can recommend any non-frumpy sandals with arch support? I need to wear orthotic insoles in my normal shoes but obviously you can't do that with sandals.

Thanks!

Toms do nice sandals. Many with a soft sole for walking a bit further in

GettingStuffed · 25/05/2022 11:57

I bought these last weekend www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/women/shoes/sandals/flat-sandals/white-leather-studded-sandals/p/25015490

I'm on several Style groups and everyone complains about their feet being ripped apart by DMs and everything from tennis balls to hairdryers to fix them. Why bother? M and S have lots of sandals around the 50 pounds mark which are beautiful leather. I love these ones.

Yeah, this was my worry. My feet are quite sensitive ( for want of a better word! ) and rub and blister really easily.

I've been getting Blowfish sandals for a few years now as I find them super comfy. I hate really flat sandals! The ones I like are the Foxtail ones as they don't have an ankle strap which I find highlights my chunky legs. But they also have lots of other styles.

Saltwater are the only brand that haven’t blistered my feet - even well worn birkinstocks have caused big problems - any one else suffer the same and can make recommendations- I travel with compeed and plasters but it’s not a good look.

Luxembourgmama · 27/05/2022 08:43

Saltwater?
