If you hair is below your shoulders...

how do you style it on a daily basis? Mine is wavy, a little frizzy, and I usually do a half-up with a claw clip. I do wish I could do something different though that made me feel more put together. I feel so frumpy with this boring 'hair style', especially in video calls. But I do prefer long hair to shorter (ironically it's easier to style) so no suggestions to go for the chop please. Just ideas for simple styles that you can do quickly in the morning before work. Thank you.

I just wear it as it is, it is wavy/curly depending on the day.

Searchfornessie · 20/05/2022 13:24

Now that I’m on so many video calls I wear my hair down so much more. I find it I tie it back i look terrible on screen, I’m sure I don’t look like that in real life!

I straighten mine and the inky style I do is sleek low ponytail if I don’t wear it down. But I have very thick hair and pins and clips don’t do anything except fall out so I don’t have a lot of options.

Preg19 · 20/05/2022 13:25

I’m the same as you I love my hair long but don’t know what to do with it, I always put it up in a bun!

Imhereforthememes · 20/05/2022 13:26

My hair is shoulder length and curly. It's a PITA. It gets in the way and falls in my face if it's down. But I don't have a 'smart updo'. It is very much 'messy mum bun'.

I'm like you though, longer is actually easier to style, especially if I want to straighten my hair.

HowIsItMarchAlready · 20/05/2022 13:29

I'd like to find a couple of styles that I can alternate. But I don't have time to mess about with a hair dryer, straighteners, etc. on a daily basis. I want styles that rely on clips, bands, etc. as that's usually easier and quicker (although likely less pretty).

Always in a bun

Daisyhoney · 20/05/2022 13:34

I wear it down when I'm at home but always tie it up in a high ponytail when I go out because it looks tidier that way. I used to straighten it and wear it down but any rain or humidity would make my hair frizz so ponytail it is.

Is the actual 'tail' though neat? Because mine would have all sorts of kinks and waves but not in a nice way - it'd just look messy.

I generally go for a bun because it's quick but I actually hate the way it looks! If I have a couple of minutes to style it I put it in two plaits, wrap round my head and pin in place, it looks a lot nicer and more 'done' and requires zero skill or styling products etc, just lots of hairpins.

skgnome · 20/05/2022 13:49

I either straighten it… or up in a messy high ponytail
took a while but I now managed to get the bumps to look intentionally messy… other than lumps on my head
if on the office, low messy bun or low twist was also my to go… works in person but not on camera (at least not on my face)

Louise0701 · 20/05/2022 13:57

I either sleep in rollers so I look like I’ve had a bouncy blow or quickly run through it with a curling wand on the ends and flick out my fringe

Centre part, slicked back "clean girl" hair.

Google it. Game changer for work hair. On trend, quick neat and stylish.

I've literally just come back from getting a weave put in as my shoulder length frizzy hair is a disaster! At least this way I can tie it in a nice pony or put some very quick loose curls in

Can you actually sleep well with rollers in? If so, do you have a link to that style of rollers? And how long does it take you with the curling wand?

the heartless curler you sleep in from eternal muse is great, very comfortable.

Tip: the OP is mildly more amusing if you interpret the title as referring to armpit hair.

savemeagin · 20/05/2022 15:48

I straighten mine in the evening then I just need to brush it in the morning. I either wear it down or have a low sleek ponytail.

Ladypeg · 20/05/2022 15:51

How often do you have to wash it? I usually do mine about every 5/6 days so day 1 it’s washed, dried, straitened. Day 2 still looks good, sometimes slightly wavier but still nice. Day 3 I might run the straighteners over the front again, day 4 I sometimes curl it then it stays nice and ‘done’ until I need to wash it. I use a clip for half up/half down the same as you, or a half ponytail. If it’s not playing ball, been rained on etc I do a centre part low bun and hairspray the flyaways and brush down with a toothbrush.

RandomUsernameHere · 20/05/2022 15:55

Usually high ponytail, sometimes bun or down. Mine is very straight.

EatingToast · 20/05/2022 16:02

Mine is waist length and I always have it differently; high bun in one of those doughnut ring things, all up in a claw clip, high ponytail with front bits out, high plait, low plait, loose straightened, loose waved with straighteners. All of these take 2-10 minutes.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 20/05/2022 16:23

Just get a good cut but keep it long, add few layers and when it is wet get little strands and twirl it around your fingers so when it dries it will have a lovely curl/twist in it and buy some good hair oil as it will make it less frizzy. I never had frizzy hair and now in peri meno have frizzy and it is a big pain in the ass.

ENoeuf · 20/05/2022 16:25

I saw a really cute way of using a claw clip so I do that mainly I'll try and find it

If you work out a curl routine you might not feel the need to style things especially. I have a very bastardised version of curly girl on the go and it means I don’t have to do anything in the mornings. Embrace the texture!

BaronessBomburst · 20/05/2022 16:47

My hair is fine and straight. I sometimes wear it down but usually in a ponytail or messy bun (with a doughnut or an old sock). On windy days I plait it.
