Christening Midi dress

Hi I need to find a christening dress for my sons christening in August

I dont really wear dresses but when I do I can vaguely pull off a midi dress (knobbly knees!)

I am a size 16 but have a large bust (K cup) so sometimes need an 18. Maybe something with longish short sleeves (not sleeveless) or longer sleeves are OK too.

I've googled my eyes out but because I never wear dresses I have no idea what would work. Tips please!!

If you're more likely to wear plain I've bought this recently and it's super flattering on. It's generously cut in the bust too. I bought a size m as a 14, and there's tons of room still. It's really good value for the price

@ChickensandCows is that pleated? I find pleats very unforgiving unless you’re stick thin.

@BundtCake it looks sort of pleated along the bottom but I think the rest is straight. Other than that what do you think?

OP, any dress which isn't obviously a ball gown, an evening dress , beachwear or a sky high mini is going to be fine for a christening. Basically any day dress which wouldn't raise an eyebrow if you saw a teacher or a receptionist or similar wearing it.

There are a gazillion day dresses out there- Just for starters Hobbs, L K Bennet and Cath Kidston are awash with suitable dresses as are George at Asda or Tu.

I think that's easy to say if you have a clue or wear dresses 😄 I have neither of those to base my decision on. Any photos etc you'd care to add I'd be grateful. I'm one of those people that thinks "ooh that's nice" in the shops and everyone else around me hates it.

Thats lovely and so is the model! Unfortunately my bingo wings tell me I have to wear a sleeve.

I have this dress in a different colour way (there are loads of choices.) The bust is really generous. I'm size 12 DD and it's too big around the bust for me. Worth a look.

@ChickensandCows I just had success on Wallis, somewhere I never look but I saw someone on Instagram with it and really liked it.

It's very pretty and will be perfect for a christening.

Think this one is best if you are 'ample of bosom' as it will accentuate without screaming about them. I lots of dresses only work if you are a bit more flat chested. The last thing you need is a dress that announces your boobs half an hour before anyone notices the rest of you.

Great choice OP!! I like other ones but that has an extra vavavoom that makes it worth going out of your comfort zone. 😊

And as a fellow larger sized and boob-heavy dresser, I think the wrap style should be flattering.
