Birkenstock Arizona… worth it?

Darkroot · 14/05/2022 17:48

I want a pair of flippy floppy shoes that I can just throw on for the school run, etc.
I usually like things like timberland Malibu but for some reason these have started to rub 🤨
I also do a lot of walking. I have narrow size 5 feet… do you recommend the arizonas? Never tried Birkenstock before.

Yes!! Absolutely they are. Comfy and long lasting.

BeanyBops · 14/05/2022 18:11

Yes 100%. You have to break them in at first but after that they are amazing.

RubiesandRose · 14/05/2022 19:04

I've just got my first pair of Birkenstock Arizona's and they felt really uncomfortable when I first put them on, but within a couple of hours they had moulded to my feet and now are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own.

I got mine on ASOS using one of their regular 20% discount codes, they are rose pink suede and I've just bought the pale blue too.

Birkenstocks are the work of the devil!! Horrible, uncomfortable and exceptionally ugly.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 14/05/2022 19:08

Mine are 8 years old and still going strong and are mega comfy but they took a lot of breaking in. I’m a narrow 5 and should have probably bought a 4.

Stylishkidintheriot · 14/05/2022 19:08

I love mine!

but I wouldn’t say I’m stylish lol

AnyFucker · 14/05/2022 19:10

Yes

LeeMiller · 14/05/2022 19:21

I have narrow, shallow feet and find them extremely comfy. Suede is softer and comfier than leather and didn’t need any breaking at all whereas the leather ones took a while to be really comfy. Suede ones look tattier sooner though.

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 15/05/2022 06:23

Love mine! I also have the shearling version and use them as slippers.

the Gizeh look great for Summer and more flip-floppy if you prefer that style

EveSix · 15/05/2022 06:46

Worth every penny. I've just retired one pair which had lasted me 10+ years of very frequent wear in all weathers. Incredibly comfortable and, I think, rather flattering on the ankles and feet.

AntsAntsAntsAnts · 15/05/2022 06:49

I have narrow feet and don’t get on with the Arizona but the gizeh works well and I’m considering the other style, I think it’s the mayari? I find them really comfy but the cork bases can get a bit smelly after a while.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 15/05/2022 06:51

I wear mine all the time, so comfy! If you buy the suede or vegan ones they don't need breaking in.

SallyLockheart · 15/05/2022 06:54

comfort over style. I buy the “narrow” version as I find the regular ones too wide for my feet

bravotango · 15/05/2022 07:15

Absolutely yes, like pp says you can get them discounted at ASOS or an outlet store!

elliesmummy19 · 15/05/2022 07:22

Definitely! I got my first pair of Birkenstocks last summer (Mayari) and they’re extremely comfortable. I haven’t had to break them in at all. They are the vegan ones so maybe that’s made a difference?

Kiitos · 15/05/2022 07:30

No. They’re not comfortable. I have a pair of Arizonas and though I have broken them in (I’ve had them for a few years and worn them a lot, on and off), they’re far from the most comfortable shoes I own. I could wear them for a short trip into town etc but any serious walking and I wouldn’t even consider them

dudsville · 15/05/2022 07:56

If they suit your feet they are the best sandals ever. I always pitch in on birk threads. They suit my feet - narrow with an arch. I have both "soft foot bed" and ordinary foot bed. I love them both but sft are literally like comfy house shoes!

Thesheerrelief · 15/05/2022 08:06

I'm on my fourth summer of my arizonas and still love them. They didn't require any breaking in and I find them very comfortable. Recently bought a pair of mayaris and love them too.

CockingASnook · 15/05/2022 08:12

I’ve always had a couple of pairs of Arizonas on the go and live in them in the summer. Two things: I’ve always sized down for them and they do a narrow version that is worth seeking out if needed. For your first pair definitely try them on. They do need a bit of breaking in but after that they’re so comfortable and easy to slip on and off, and go with almost anything.

jeaux90 · 15/05/2022 09:20

I found the Mayari the most comfortable out of all of them, I have Arizonas and the single strap but I prefer the Mayari

jeaux90 · 15/05/2022 09:21

Oh do you have a John Lewis near you? Mine has different ones in so maybe best to try on to see what works best for you

HidingFromDD · 15/05/2022 09:23

They used to suit my feet and I could wear them anywhere. Unfortunately something changed and they started to rub. I’ve optimistically tried two further pairs with exactly the same problem so ime they’ll either suit or not but you won’t know until you’ve had them a while

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 15/05/2022 09:25

I have the Mayari in silver and essentially live in them from May until October. These are my second pair; I wore the first pair so much that the sole wore out so the original pair just get worn as slippers.

I'm eyeing up their boots for winter time.

RedRobyn2021 · 15/05/2022 09:28

I've borrowed my mums for my holiday and I love them, I have worn them every day and will definitely be buying my own now

alpenguin · 15/05/2022 09:32

The Boston mules are fantastic and no one is subjected to gnarly toes. They also don’t rub in the same way. I couldn’t wear the sandal types because they hurt so bloody bad
