Which season do you prefer dressing in?

As the sun makes an appearance I realise yet again how much easier I find it to dress in the summer. I think it’s primarily to do with shoes, I find most closed toe boots and shoes cut my leg off and makes them look shorter, whereas sandals do the opposite even if flat.

But overall just seems a lot easier to achieve an effortless look, when not worrying about endless layers and coats.

I am a naturally cold person so rarely find it too hot, although when it hits about 32 degrees even I start feeling it and then it is hard as I like to be covered up mainly!

Autumn and spring. I hate showing of my body (legs, arms) I love dresses and boots, cardigans, coats. I also love jewel stone colours and pinks and pale greens. I also struggle with leg exposure as I have to shave them regularly and they are very pale.

I prefer winter, as the colours suit me better and I don't like to have too much bare flesh on display. It's always difficult to find summer clothes that I like in the shops so I dread very hot summers, especially when deciding what to wear for work or events. I usually feel like an uncoordinated mess.

Saying that, I prefer summer as a season and if looks don't matter too much (eg on holiday) I like the ease of sandals and feel more comfortable in loose cottons and linens etc, with no bulky/itchy cardigans over the top.

Spring!
Warm enough to wear less, cold enough to cover wobbly bits.

Time40 · 06/05/2022 11:09

Summer. It's so much easier and quicker.

LaCerbiatta · 06/05/2022 11:09

Winter without a question! So easy to look good with good boots and a nice coat!

absolutelynotfabulous · 06/05/2022 11:12

Not summer! Dread pulling out hairy, flabby bits. Much happier in coats and boots. So winter if not too cold, spring and autumn.

TeaAddict235 · 06/05/2022 11:14

I love dressing for spring and summer. The warmth in the air after the dark and grey days of winter encourage me to wear more colour. Vibrant colours suit my complexion and are more reflective of my personality too. It's not about showing skin for me, as I don't like doing that either. But it's about being warmed easily through my fewer layers and taking colour inspiration from nature.

DialsMavis · 06/05/2022 11:15

Summer follwed by winter, I totally suck at Spring, I never seem to have the optimum jacket.

I am going out on Sat night to a rare place that trainers won't cut it 😥and completely stuck. It seems like pre chunky sandals but post jeans and tights weather, I am flummoxed!

user1497787065 · 06/05/2022 11:18

Definitely winter. Only need to think about coat and boots, jeans or leggings. Vary it a little with scarves and gloves. Simple.

I hate summer. Hate summer clothing. Hate feeling over warm but also don't look exposing bits of my body so summer for me means cropped jeans and linen shirts. Far too warm but can't bring myself to try shorts and dresses.

Floisme · 06/05/2022 11:29

Probably spring and autumn but I also like those dry, cold winter days as I love my tweed coat. The only time of year I really dislike for dressing is high summer as I don't like wafty, droopy clothing plus I prefer to cover up for reasons of vanity, health and comfort - cannot stand the feeling of flesh cooking in the sun - and so I end up in wide, ankle length trousers and a linen or silk shirt every day. But that normally only lasts a couple of weeks around here.

Sane here ☺️ always struggle with what to wear on roasting hot Summer days

dudsville · 06/05/2022 11:40

Hm, I love dresses and sandals but I also love trousers and cardigans with boots... I think the hardest thing to dress for is warmish/coldish and windy rainy weather, as opposed to a season.

EspeciallyDistracted · 06/05/2022 11:45

Winter, love it, so easy to throw on layers, boots, jumpers and not have to worry about sweat, sunscreen, bra straps showing, lack of pockets.

EspeciallyDistracted · 06/05/2022 11:51

Although I like not having to put socks on every time I want to leave the house, that's one benefit of warmer weather dressing

narcdad · 06/05/2022 11:53

@user1497787065

Summer hater here too, hate overly warm nights too 😫

StarlightLady · 06/05/2022 11:55

Summer without doubt for me. I love summer dresses.

Perfumelover18 · 06/05/2022 11:58

Definitely winter. I love coats and boots, and in summer I struggle with dresses. I'm never quite warm enough and don't like the look of cardigans over dresses. I hate bare legs but tights are too hot.

JaneJeffer · 06/05/2022 12:02

Summer if we ever get one. If anyone doesn't like any of my bare flesh they can look away!

ASmallCat · 06/05/2022 12:03

One. Just one.

Unfortunately most of Ireland rations summer days out amongst the rest of the seasons.

So it’s always a gamble to get dressed in the morning for say, Autumn, when it’ll also be blistering summer in late afternoon or brass monkeys by 8pm.

Or all three with a fresh spring morning bucked in at 5am for the laugh.

So ultimately I dress in layers out of necessity & my shawls will be prised out of my <very warm thank you> dead hands before I give them up.

Footwear for all seasons is a whole other thing & frequently I give up & go barefoot around the house/garden/car rather than make a decision.

astorsback · 06/05/2022 12:08

Summer.

Dress, knickers, sandals, done.

newrubylane · 06/05/2022 12:15

Summer by a mile - light, colourful and easy. Winter I just can't deal with all the layers and I have skinny legs/ankles so boots are such a problem. Spring is a pain finding the right balance of layers for warmth but not looking too wintry or too optimistic and summery. Autumn I don't worry about looking wintry/summery so much, but again the footwear is an issue for me.

MargaritasOnMe · 06/05/2022 12:16

I prefer cold weather because all my jackets and coats have decent sized pockets, yet hardly any of my summer clothes do (and if there is a pocket it's usually very small and decorative rather than useful). And yes I do have bags but there is something so convenient about a pocket!

KittyWithoutAName · 06/05/2022 12:23

Winter I hate summr clothes

balalake · 06/05/2022 12:52

Spring, no need for a coat, not oppressive (in the UK given humidity and poor air quality).

StarlightLady · 06/05/2022 12:55

@astorsback - Knickers are an optional extra for me with long summer dresses, but don't tell anyone will you? 😂
