when i was under 8 stone, late teens, early 20's pre kids, at 5 2, i was usually a size 12. very rarely a 10.
now i am 9.5 and firmly a ten. and none of the tens get left in the sales. why?

moljam · 11/01/2008 21:30

im size 4/6 and cant ever find anything small in sales in shops but online is bit better,in store its always seems to be bigger sizes.had my eye on nice coat in next and now reduced-am very tempted!!!!!and i hate people sying ooh your lucky you can buy cheaper childrens clothes-fine if you like skulls, kittens, diamontes(however you spell it),flames etc.which i dont usually

morningglory · 11/01/2008 21:34

I'm a size 4-6 (when not pregnant...usually 93-95 pounds), and never find anything on sale. If I find something that fits, I have to grab it. I'm also short (5'2"), so not excessively skinny, but also meking it really difficult to buy clothes. I agree with ib, I never walk into most English label stores because they never carry anything which fits me. More upmarket labels and French labels are much better at catering to petite women.

Gap kids and other kids sections are OK, but they assume one has no boobs or hips. I don't have much, but they are there, so the fit isn't great.

Walnutshell I just saw your last post. I am sure you are gorgeous and can't believe that losing weight when you are already a size 10 is necessary or desirable. (From the picture on your profile, maybe some moisturiser would help?)

Peapodlovescuddles · 11/01/2008 23:41

I'm a size 4/6 and 5ft4 and 6 stone 12 on but I have a tiny frame and no boobs... I do seem to have a waist though

frannikin · 12/01/2008 01:07

BMI is ridiculous because muscle weighs more than fat. I can be a size slimmer but weigh more. Guess which I prefer?

Walnutshell · 12/01/2008 13:01

Nine - ooh, kiss kiss kiss to you! Re-reading, it was a bit self-pity that one, but not intended. I mean, I think I'm pretty average really and dh has his rose-tinted's on... Know what you mean about the moisturiser though, the old wrinkle is perhaps showing?

NineUnlikelyTales · 12/01/2008 13:06

Oh yes, bless those DHs and their rose tinteds!

lubyluby · 12/01/2008 13:15

i think the sizes are getting bigger too, pre kids i was 5'9" (still am obviosuly) and weighed 6stone 8lb (bullimic) and was still a size 10/12!!!

now about double that weight and a size 18/20 but by clothes form 10 years ago i reckon i wouldn;t have been able to buy anything except a tent from millets as would have put me at about a 26/28 i reckon.

grrrr at the labelling system.

p.s would much rather eb soemwhere in between a size 12/14 and am workign on it getitng there slowly with slimming world. i have a love hate relationship with food and now have a fear of being sick. oops went off track there.

Walnutshell · 12/01/2008 13:25

(The old wrinkle? or even the odd wrinkle...)

Hi nine.

sizes def getting bigger. I would consider myself a fairly standard 12 but usually buy 10 in today's market. I mean, a size 10 used to be teeny and desirable, now it's more like 8/6.

dinny · 12/01/2008 13:50

sizes definitely getting bigger - I'd have been a 12 at this weight a few years ago buit am usually a 10, if that makes sense?
