Best tubing mascara?

BellatrixLeNotStrangeAtAll · 13/04/2022 20:32

I really rated the No7 Stay Perfect tubing mascara in the gold tube- it was subtle but it absolutely did not budge or smudge in any way at all and was a proper tubing mascara- I could see the little tubes on cotton pads when I'd removed with warm water.

Not only have they changed the packaging but they have changed the formula and it is now absolutely awful. Not like a tubing mascara any more, it smudges and flakes, it's a horrible consistency, the brush is terrible. Just awful.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a really good tubing mascara?

The reviews for the new no7 formula are dreadful. Keeping fingers crossed they go back to the old formula.

No idea why they thought changing something that worked was a good idea. Maybe they want to discontinue it so are making it crap.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I've recently bought EL double wear mascara and whilst it's ok, I don't think it smudges any less than my Maybelline lash sensational, which is actually very good but I especially like to use a tubing mascara on my lower lashes to really make sure there is no smudging below my lower lashes.

@OverByYer I hope Boots pay attention to the reviews- I'm tempted to email them and draw attention to this thread. I can't imagine anyone is going to repeat purchase the new version.

@BellatrixLeNotStrangeAtAll I was thinking the same. I reckon it’s at least 5 years I’ve been buying this product. It’s the only time I go into Boots is to get it and normally pick up other stuff when I’m there. No reason to go there now.

ninebiscuits · 14/04/2022 07:21

The new no7 stuff is not good. They have also recently changed the loose powder that I love.... so went on ebay and found lots of sellers with the old ones, so stocked up... not quite sure what I'll do when it runs out :'(

BellatrixLeNotStrangeAtAll · 14/04/2022 07:27

So disappointing- No7 used to be really good quality at a good price. I've not bought anything except the god-awful reformulated mascara for a long time and won't be bothering now.

I did buy a couple of the new 17 items as well, just lip products and a highlighter as don't like to spend a fortune on these, especially lip gloss, but those were all rubbish too and the highlighter has been given to 9 yr old DD- even she didn't like it 😂 I've caved and bought the Lisa Eldridge highlighter and one of her glosses instead.

NotTheOW, yes me too. I’ve put this L’Oréal one on subscribe and save at Amazon which reminds me to bin it.

Another vote for L'Oréal beauty tubes

They've changed the formula of the eye pencils too!

The red double ended L'Oréal mascara is tubing and has good reviews.

AuntieMarys · 14/04/2022 08:01

The Boots no 7 dries out ridiculously quickly too. I picked up a Maybelline one yesterday in Sainsbury's...will see how it goes

NotTheOW · 14/04/2022 08:05

Have they changed everything? Their foundations?! Took me years to find something I liked.

ouchmyfeet · 14/04/2022 08:11

L'Oréal double extension (red and white tube) is great for special occasions - it's a bit much for everyday wear for me though. I wear it for events/ nights out.

Also came to recommend this, it's the proper name of the beauty tubes one other posters have recommended. I like Clinique lash power for everyday wear but this is good for when I get more done up and is a budget option. Often on 3 for 2 in boots too.

EatSleepReplete · 14/04/2022 08:23

I used to use the No7 mascara too, it was pretty much perfect before Boots mucked about with the ingredients.
I tried the Loreal air volume mega waterproof, it gets a big NO from me I'm afraid. It flakes pretty quickly, especially if you have oily skin, & is a total PITA to remove, requires a lot of rubbing even after extended soaking in warm water, which tubing shouldn't need. I binned it after about a week TBH.

I must be the only person who never got on the No7 one. Bought it a couple of years ago after seeing rave reviews, binned it after first use, it made my lash look sparse and stumpy. The worst I’ve ever tried! I’ve never found the perfect tuning mascara really, tried them all. Beauty tubes is wasteful as I don’t use the white stuff (found it did nothing).
I wish someone could invent a perfect one as the concept is brilliant. Like PPs I am reluctant to spend too much on mascara due to being mindful of eye health.

DameCelia · 14/04/2022 08:58

Just a word of warning to Clinique lash power lovers.
I bought a new one two weeks ago and it's a nightmare to remove, instead of washing off it is smudging everywhere. I have a horrible feeling they've changed the formula Angry but don't know how to check.

I didn't like it either, it kind of pinched my eyelashes and hurt. I LOVED the old eye pencil though, can't believe they've changed the formula. All the new packaging looks shit too and really cheap!
SlipperyLizard · 14/04/2022 09:02

I’ve tried a lot (including Clinique & Estes Lauder) and keep going back to the L’Oreal Double Extension one, although I did like the boots one it wasn’t always available in my town or on offer.

Laquila · 14/04/2022 09:03

Hmm I used the No7 gold tube one for years and honestly can't tell the diff with the new packaging one 😳 it still removes exactly the same for me, with warm water, and doesn't smudge or flake during the day. So YMMV!

For me, the white layer just acts as another coat - I agree it doesn’t really “do” anything and is a bit of a gimmick, but I do use it as the first coat (although not on bottom lashes as it seems to smudge on them).

Not sure if they have changed everything, but I just tried the no7 lift and luminate foundation and am getting on well with it... I think, as with most things, it'll be down to personal preference. Previously I used the hydraluminous one.
