This cream has changed my face!

justonanote · 04/04/2022 21:46

I have sensitive skin, sometimes can be quite dry. Anything 'drying' or harsh makes my skin break out. But something like a moisturiser that's really really basic like a Simple branded one does nothing for it

I recently put a cream called Atrixo on my face. I was desperate on a trip out and my face was dry

Woke up the following morning and I was growing! Absolutely glowing.

I've been using it for over a month and it's still fantastic.

At £3 or less a pot I just had to share Smile

Hope this might help someone in need of something new to try

Oh I remember the Atrixo adverts from the 70's and 80's....back when no one had dishwashers and only women did the washing up! I cant remember if it was Atrixo or one of the Nivea ones that was advertised as being kept next to the kitchen sink!

Namechangenumber23 · 04/04/2022 23:38

@ncforinkhelp
I use this religiously on my hands and sometimes on my face if I've got really dry skin. I read on another thread on here that it's a dupe for Crème De La Mer, as it has a very similar ingredient list..... no idea if that's true or not!!

I got curious....😂

doeadeeer · 04/04/2022 23:42

Glycerin is high up on ingredient list. That will be what's moisturising. Defo no need to spend a lot on moisturiser

Pixiedust1234 · 05/04/2022 00:00

My mum swore by this for her hands. Used it for decades. Didn't know they still sold it!

Dancer47 · 05/04/2022 00:02

I recommend Atrixo for face, hands and neck and also for dry elbows, feet and knees.
I am the wrong side of 50 but have great skin on my face and neck and no lines at all. It is moisturising and also an environmental barrier.

Atrixo has been around longer than I've been on the planet. When I was a child all the women had a pot of it. It's wonderful.

PAFMO · 05/04/2022 06:15

@SausagePourHomme

I'm getting a proustian rush from the picture of that tub. they used to advertise it on tv

"active hands are attractive hands"

"protected with Atrixo"Grin

Atrixo was tested about 20 years ago and found to be just as, if not more, effective as a face moisturizer than fancy schmancy creams costing £80+ (Creme de la Mer was one of them)

PAFMO · 05/04/2022 06:18

I don't think it was the ingredients of CdlM v Atrixo, (Creme de la Mer used to wang on about containing some sort of "broth" made from happy seaweed that hadn't been kept in a barn Grin and was only harvested by virgins under the light of the second full moon if it fell on a Tuesday or some such utter bollocks) but the effect.
Nivea Blue Pot also beat La Mer hands down.

The cheap Nivea is a mer dupe.

Anything with Vaseline and glycerine in is extremely moisturising.

I once asked a pharmacist what the best moisturiser was and she said basically Vaseline as creates a barrier.

I think I remember an advert for this in the early 80s. A lady got a very dry leaf and then applied some cream to it an afterwards could bend it in her hand without it cracking. I remember being very impressed at the time. There is something to be said about using these older products. After trying every cleanser under the sun I've gone back to using Anne French cleansing milk, the first one I tried when I was 13. It's really fabulous.

Sadly Anne French isn't made any more! I only realised this last week as I had a stock to work through. It was wonderful I agree.
Netty909 · 05/04/2022 07:40

@alyaster1 Oh no! I usually stock up every few months so have a couple left. That's sad news. Thanks for letting me know.

The leaf advert was Oil of Ulay ( later changed to Olay). My gran used to use it, although apparently when I was about 4 I studied her face very carefully and then asked why it didn't work GrinGrin

No idea why I was so cheeky- my gran had fantastic skin. Blush

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 05/04/2022 09:23

Amazing - I love tips like this. Even if it doesn’t work I can afford to give it a go.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/04/2022 09:32

Nivea sensitive cleansing milk is a pretty good Anne French copy for those missing that.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 05/04/2022 11:14

@frugalkitty

Scent of my childhood that is, my mum always used it on her hands. I think JLo Glow perfume smells similar. Never tried it on my face though.
Me too! My mum used it and always had a pot in her bag, along with a headsquare!

Thanks for the tip, I will give it a go. Just seen a bottle of Anne French on sale for £30 on EBay! So that's a No No.

Oh yes, I remember Oil of Ulay - my Nan also had a bottle on her dressing table. GrinI think maybe we were expecting it to work miracles on our nans after seeing it on the leaf!

TabithaTittlemouse · 06/04/2022 13:17

@TackyTriceratops I remember being told about Vaseline in France, the pharmacist said it was the most affective thing that they sold for skin.
I use it very occasionally!

ArabeI · 06/04/2022 13:35

I'm going to try some I think @justonanote

I also have sensitive skin, so hopefully it won't cause breakout. If it does I'll just use it for my hands!

ArabeI · 06/04/2022 13:37

I sometimes use Vaseline. One of our, ancient admittedly, beauty bibles said it was the best thing for eyes.

Just so you are aware, this isn’t suitable for long term use (or any use on face in my opinion) The thickness of the chemicals in isopropyl palmitate can deprive the skin of nutrients such as oxygen. If the skin doesn't breathe, your pores can become clogged and healthy skin cells can die. This can also lead to dry, flaky skin. it is advertised as a hand cream which is how it should remain, the ingredients aren’t non comedogenic.
