Is there anything worth trying for this (pic attached) other than Botox? Or a radical fringe 🤦‍♀️😂

Botox on its own starts around £270 here. Very good clinic though. I don't see how there would be much profit in £150 and it would put me off. 🤷‍♀️
I've seen crow's feet only priced at £180 but not my clinic.

PlainJaneEyre · 06/04/2022 10:37

Botox in SE with consultant dermatologist 230 Pounds.

TabithaTittlemouse · 06/04/2022 13:10

@microbius do you mean masking tape?

microbius · 06/04/2022 14:57

@TabithaTittlemouse I think artist tape might sometimes be called masking tape but not all masking tape is artist tape. Sorry it is confusing. Artist tape is a paper roll with some glue on it. I got mine in a graphics / arts craft shop (rather than B&Q if you mean that kind of masking tape)

microbius · 06/04/2022 15:00

@saveahorserideacowboy
I think it is probably is similar to what I use

microbius · 06/04/2022 15:01

I am sorry I realised in my original post all frownies have been converted to brownies Blush

Rights · 06/04/2022 15:43

Agree with PP that botox can (not always, but often) look obvious/shiny/a bit odd. People get used to it so sometimes can't tell when it's their own face. Personally I'm considering tret as a preventive measure and I also wear SPF50 on my face every day. Might try frownies too!

saveahorserideacowboy · 06/04/2022 16:03

Thanks all! I’ve been using the frownies overnight and can see a difference on a morning for a few hours certainly then it wears off. So figure I must frown in my sleep! I’m going to pop one on whenever I’m just at home too.
I’ve also done an online consultation with Dermatica so awaiting their formulation. I use spf every day but have an outside job so I feel like my face gets abit naturally weathered! Good to know I’m not the only one my age with this issue but I never notice them on other people so maybe we are just more aware of our own flaws 🤦‍♀️

If you work outside, you probably frown and squeeze your face quite a bit (sun, wind). Invest into all kind of hats with brims, they will help you keep your face more still

Thank you. That’s the kind I mean. I’ll try it next time I get my paints out Grin

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 06/04/2022 22:46

I have some frownies I've been trying for my 11s. A question- do you smooth the skin out to make it line free before putting them on? Or just put on top of the lines as they are?
I'm not seeing much if a difference in the morning so far.
Good tip re masking tape! I bet sellotape would work too.

ArabeI · 06/04/2022 23:13

A friend of mine (it's not me, honestly) swears by a satin bonnet, but the sort with a wide elastic band - she pulls the band part over her forehead and wakes crease-free. Presumably there's a band impression instead, but apparently it's about training not to frown.

I think that sounds like hard work and I'd be worried about headaches.

Foreo Bear or something similar might help, though I don't know if it works for forehead lines. I like mine, though I'm not a daily, devoted user.

ArabeI · 06/04/2022 23:14

I think surgical tape would be kinder on the skin!

I kind of raise my eyebrows so the skin is a little smoother. If I remember it did take a few days to show a difference. Make sure it's well stuck down.
thisplaceisweird · 06/04/2022 23:23

People who use Botox don't look younger, they just look like people that use Botox. Don't go down that route op.

Retinol and a good face massage routine will do the trick. Also drink more water!

NoToLandfill · 06/04/2022 23:40

Do you wear sunglasses outside? Try Polarising ones. And definitely a hat!

And yes you will just look like you have Botox, if you get Botox.

Vohgue · 07/04/2022 00:29

Botox doesn't change the texture of your skin and is very localised. So it can look a bit weird if the lines are gone on your forehead but you still have eg a crepey mouth and dehydrated skin. Agree with other posters that a whole picture approach is better - sunglasses/hat to reduce glare, retinol or tret at night, make sure you have enough fluids, spf.

MrOllivander · 07/04/2022 01:37

Tret! My forehead before and after tret. I have had Botox three times but it's totally worn off as I haven't had it for over two years now

Have you had a botox brow lift MrsOllivsnder? It's the eyebrows, raised at the corner like that, that are usually a giveaway.

Nope, first pic is before I even had a decent skincare routine

Do you realise that some people get their brows shaped like that ? It's called a high arch.
balancebeam · 07/04/2022 10:14

Brow lift botox is quite distinctive, that raised and pulled arch, and skin, is the main giveaway, but not the only one. I spotted it immediately in the photos.

I've had botox before, so no judgment from me. It's not unusual, and is one of the cheaper botox procedures (at the London based clinic I use it is) if you have it done alone.

saveahorserideacowboy · 07/04/2022 10:48

So I’ve been using the smoothies for 3 nights now. I think I can see a difference in line depth!? Maybe wishful thinking.. The 2nd pic was today a few hours after removal (although you can see I’ve got a slight red patch where it’s been) Weirdly I feel more aware of the area and when I’m frowning habitually which is a good thing I think.

I can see a difference OP, keep going!

I also make sure I wear my sunglasses a lot too, even if it's not sunny even just the outdoor light makes me frown.

Do you do your own eye brows OP? They're amazing.

saveahorserideacowboy · 07/04/2022 10:57

Yes I do my own brows, that’s so kind Thankyou. ! I tint them every 2 weeks st home just pluck as needed and fill in with soap & glory eyebrow pencil. I’m going to invest in some better sunnies I think
