Shoes for City Break

Off to Venice for Easter. There will be loads of walking!
I am looking to invest in some comfortable shoes that will work with trousers and tops.
I'm thinking SuperGa or Converse but not sure how comfortable these are.
My only absolute "NO" is Sketchers!
Any suggestions?

@LadyEloise1

Skechers Arch Fit - lots of styles and colours. They support your arches unlike other Skechers.
The OP did say absolutely no skechers!

Vans. I have the pretty, girly, plimsoll style that go well with dresses. Extremely comfortable.

Countmeout · 03/04/2022 17:06

Novesta have an arch support insole in the pair I have and I wouldn’t take them on a city break as they’re not comfortable. I wore a pair of Zara trainers a bit like these on my last city break. They have a sort of padded/ memory foam insole. Walked miles in them.
I don’t find Stan Smiths comfortable either still trying to break a pair in.

@evilharpy
The Archfit are different to normal Skechers and the variety of styles in them
is awesome.
I can't wear no heel or low heel shoes like ballet flats or sneakers but the ArchFit I can wear.

They're not gorgeous, but my asics saved my feet on my last weekend away.

For city walking I love Sperry shoes, particularly the "Angelfish" style in tan. They look great with most things and are so comfortable from the start, like walking on clouds. They last years and years, and they were one of the few shoes I could wear all day when I had Plantar Fasciitis.
They also do more of a tennis shoe style (crest or vibe I think its called) which is ultra comfy too.

Superga are the only ones I’ve been able to wear from the off walking for miles without needing to break them in and have always found them super comfy especially as I’ve got quite difficult feet to find shoes that are comfortable.

JaceLancs · 04/04/2022 00:18

I love my DKNY slip on trainers - I can even wear them with bare feet and walk miles
Suede Toms are good for me
Most recent purchase is these Rieker gold trainers which are very comfy

Wordlewobble · 08/04/2022 16:55

Really want something thats very comfy with arch support, cushioned heel, thats practical (easy to keep clean) and looks good for a city break for a woman mid fifties (so not too flat) to wear with dress, jeans, shorts (on hols) and trousers etc?

Wordlewobble · 10/04/2022 20:10

@EwwSprouts the Fitflop trainer link is in dollars and the white light colours (for summer) are unavailable. They have the vitamin FF but think the knit material in a white or lilac might be hard to keep clean unless you can chuck them in the washer.

user1237 · 10/04/2022 20:36

The best trainers I own are Nike Air Max 90's. So comfortable to wear, no painful break in and can wear with anything!

I also have these, they have a memory foam style insole so are super comfy!

I find superga really comfy. Cracking out new ones for five days in London soon and won't need to take any other shoes as they go with everything.

Ghostlyglow · 10/04/2022 21:02

If it has to be trainers I find Vans are good for walking, otherwise DMs

Hohofortherobbers · 10/04/2022 21:10

I wore my DMs which stomped all over Moscow in the cold weather and my Asics which coped with 9 miles a day during spring in Rome. Do NOT wear Converse, they are pub trainers.

everyonebutme · 11/04/2022 04:16

There's a brand called Wonders which have very comfortable shoes (I bought some a few years ago to walk around Rome). Rieker are also good. wonders.com/GB/en/women-shoes

Geox trainer type shoes are comfy and smart. Quite pricey though.

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 11/04/2022 09:54

Kurt Geiger Vegan trainers got me through a 4 day city break to Palma. Not a blister in sight and so comfortable. Like walking on a cloud.

apairofblueeyes100 · 11/04/2022 10:24

I'm just back from a city break to Edinburgh and took my Adidas Stan Smiths - the most comfortable shoes ever and not expensive either. We averaged 15K of walking a day so can definitely recommend.

AnnaMagnani · 11/04/2022 10:47

So I went to Toast, having failed to find a Fitflop stockist, and tried both the Vejas and the Novesta Star.

And bought them both Blush

The Novesta Star are amazingly comfortable straight out of the box, lots of arch support, and are going to be a great summer shoe. They would go with anything.

I was fully prepared for the Veja to be uncomfortable and need breaking in, but they were great too. Have worn a few times and just needed to bend the top of the heel back and they are fine. Better for a rainy day or trousers but can definitely see myself wearing them with dresses.

Only issue is that now I'd like the Novesta Star in all the colours...
