Indian Fusion wedding guest outfit - can I run something by you?

Whysolong7 · 27/03/2022 19:13

So I’m been invited to a very high end wedding. The dress code is Indian fusion so I’m guessing that allows western outfits with and Indian feel all the way to western style sarees.

I have found a couple of outfits which I think could work but I have some questions. I think colour would be good but the outfit below is bolder than I would normally wear - would it be out of keeping?

Also could it be too pink if the bride wears pink / red.

I can get the top made longer.

Any help / advise very gratefully recurved.

That’s truly amazing.

That would be too much skin for my (muslim) style of Indian fusion, but I’m guessing this is a Hindu wedding.

That aside, the style/ fusion/ general gorgeousness of it works perfectly.

declutteringmymind · 27/03/2022 19:17

It's perfect.

MaChienEstUnDick · 27/03/2022 19:18

I love that but there is quite a lot of skin showing so it might be worth checking with someone of the faith the wedding is in. Even if it is 'fusion' there might be a code within the temple/mosque which may or may not be overt, but you'll be uncomfortable if you turn up and no-one else has their shoulders showing, for example.

That aside, it's stunning!

Thank you so much everyone.

It a Hindu wedding in the grounds of a stately house in the UK. I have the option to make the top lower - so to the waist rather than showing any midrif and also I can have the sleeve made to elbow length which won’t be as pretty but more flattering for my chubby upper arms!

Do you think the outfit will still work with those changes?

If Hindi is not worry about sleeves but would make the goo longer

JanisMoplin · 27/03/2022 19:31

I think if Hindu showing your midriff not a problem but I would cover my shoulders and wear a dupatta ( shawl) perhaps. I think even a sleeveless blouse would be ok but that one shoulder does show perhaps too much skin. I dont think the colour is a problem.

ApolloandDaphne · 27/03/2022 19:32

I don't know about convention or dress code but that is a very lovely outfit. Possibly a longer top would be better.

Nuna7 · 27/03/2022 19:43

A dupatta would look lovely with this - same colour as the lehanga / skirt. This is perfectly acceptable for a Hindu wedding! Have fun!

womaninthepinkdress · 27/03/2022 19:48

Perfect! Looking at the pic it's not much mid-drift at all. And fine for a Hindu wedding.

I would just have a matching scarf/shawl/duppata.

I think it will look great with some Indian jewellery too.

Oh that's stunning! Can you share the etsy seller please? I have a similar wedding in the autumn!

Thank you a dupatta is a great idea, I add that to the customisation and have the top made elbow length on both sides.

Oh one more thing - the listing mentions an extra cost of an underskirt. For this type of outfit would an underskirt be similar to a petticoat or the type of thing that would add more volume to the skirt and poof it out?

ProfessorLayton1 · 27/03/2022 20:00

I don't think showing your midriff or shoulder is a problem if it's a Hindu wedding. Gorgeous outfit by the way.. How are you going to accessorise it ?
Have you been invited just for the wedding or for the entire celebrations.

ProfessorLayton1 · 27/03/2022 20:01

You would need a colour matched underskirt.

onelostsoulswimminginafishbowl · 27/03/2022 20:04

What a stunning outfit! It will look incredible 😍😍

Yeh for an extra £20 I'd get the under skirt. The skirt will sit better with one.

There seems to be Indian costume jewellery sellers on Etsy too... https://www.etsy.com/uk/market/indianjewellery?gbraid=0AAAAADutTMff4G0jctRH2er8-d11To9Ul&utmmsource=google&utmmedium=cpc&utmmcampaign=SearchUKKDSAGGLLENGGeneral-NonbranddCatch-AllExt&utmmag=UK-ENDSA-General&utmmcustom1=kkCjwKCAjwloCSBhAeEiwA3hVof3EqNuWwmOunGW3OclW1gFXnsavVzhcUgUY2HeVmPHOtTSf6walwhoCCoEQAvDBwEEk&utmmcontent=go149164831194655587515445214053144aud-1184048147899:dsa-19959388920mm&utmcustom2=149164831&gbraid=0AAAAADutTMff4G0jctRH2er8-d11To9Ul&gclid=CjwKCAjwloCSBhAeEiwA3hVoof3EqNuWwmOunGW3OclW1gFXnsavVzhcUgUY2HeVmPHOtTSf6walwhoCoEQAvDDBwE

And bindi will look nice, and hair accessories if you wanted too. Sorry I'm getting excited for you! It's a gorgeous outfit to dress up Smile

Moresleepandwine · 27/03/2022 20:49

That outfit is gorgeous! The listing says the understand is cancan which means it's pouffy tulle to add volume. Definitely include it otherwise you won't get the same effect as the photograph.

ProfessorLayton1 · 27/03/2022 21:01

@Whysolong7 - is it a South Indian Hindu wedding, any idea ?
South Indian weddings are simpler compared to North Indian weddings. But that's is slowly changing as well.
