When do you put away your winter things?

Assuming you do!

I'm toying with the idea...but we all know that the minute I put away my winter coat, we're going to get dreadful weather Grin

More like end of May for me.

Shinyandnew1 · 17/03/2022 12:05

End of April/start of May usually. Depending on the weather!

JustHereWithPopcorn · 17/03/2022 12:06

I'm thinking I will put most of it away beginning of April, keeping a few things out for the odd cold day/layers.

WorkingOnMyNightCheese · 17/03/2022 12:11

I'll probably start doing this soon. Really thick woollies can go away first, but I'll keep a few out for cold mornings. I bought an Oodie a couple of weeks ago and it was only cold enough to use it twice, so I think changeover time is definitely approaching.

Kind of dreading it. Too many knits and not enough space...

DelphiniumBlue · 17/03/2022 12:13

Last day of the Easter holidays. If not then May half term week.

YellowRosesWhiteRoses · 17/03/2022 12:16

Hmmmm not yet then, seems to be the concensus.

I put away a few dresses yesterday and got out a few that are suitable for spring. No jumpers or coats packed away though, they are still in use most days.

Gonnagetgoing · 17/03/2022 12:59

Probably when the weather gets hot enough.

Last year it was later. Year before (2020) it was earlier as it was so hot.

Apparently we're due a heatwave over in UK next month so maybe then.

evilharpy · 17/03/2022 13:12

I'm still buying jumpers, let alone putting them away. I'm a reptile.

ArabeI · 17/03/2022 14:22

Definitely not yet, but I was thinking about this just a couple of days ago.

They'll just be moved to the other wardrobe with out of season coats, winter knits (nearly all cardigans) will be moved to the top shelf in the cupboard and the other knits moved down. So I can still access when needed. I used to put things in vacuum bags but that seems like hard work now!

MarshaBradyo · 17/03/2022 14:23

Not yet it was 4 degrees this morning

Madre123 · 17/03/2022 14:25

I don't....I have the space Thankfully to allow for all my clothes to stay in the wardrobes.

May. There are always a few days in March when the temperature rises and everyone gets excited about spring clothes. And then, more often than not, temperatures drop and I need my thermal vests again.

ppeatfruit · 17/03/2022 14:30

This is an interesting question, I heard a talk about the Italians who literally ALL put away their winter things on the same day and then freeze because the weather does not necessarily stay hot! We're more sensible because of course our weather has never been reliable.

I've recently got rid of a lot of clothes that I don't wear (to charity) but I still find myself choosing the same things in the suitable weather. It's great to have more room in the wardrobe, I don't put anything away now!

Imsittinginthekitchensink · 17/03/2022 14:33

I never do, but summer dressing for me just means a lighter jacket and no scarf.

LittleGungHo · 17/03/2022 14:33

After Easter. That is when I would go to a summer dress 25 years ago ago so the timing has stuck. Does not matter when Easter falls. Always Easter.

nordica · 17/03/2022 14:54

I've already stopped wearing my warmest winter stuff like my duffle coat and thick jumpers and started wearing spring jackets. A lot of my wardrobe is adaptable for year-round wear though with layering so they stay out. And will keep fleeces and a warm cardigan out just in case.

I'll probably pack away most of my wool items and corduroy skirts at the end of this month.

Justleaveitblankthen · 17/03/2022 14:59

Well I started pegging out ( washing ) on Monday, so hope it won't be long now 😀 Currently still need a fleece or light jacket outside though. I definitely play it day by day though..

YellowRosesWhiteRoses · 17/03/2022 15:13

My massive duvet coat hasn't had an outing in ages tbf. I might put that away to begin with. Boots are trickier as they're the best thing in the rain really and I walk a lot. They might not go away till June! I think I might put my hats, gloves and scarves away too.

My wardrobe has a change a lot and is smaller now, so I have less to put away. I have "proper summer" things to bring down for the two weeks of summer we usually get. My heaviest winter coat has only not been worn for this and last week - so it feels too soon to put it away. Cardigans will stay out for a good couple of months yet!

YellowRosesWhiteRoses · 17/03/2022 16:22

I only have circa 50 items total, including summer and winter, but I like putting things away for some reason. I don't have a big wardrobe and I only have one. I find even 50 odd items can feel a bit cramped

When it stops being frosty in the mornings.

I get up at 6am. Today it was -2 outside, ice on the windscreen. Definitely still need sweater & coat.

Picklerickflag · 17/03/2022 16:27

Well it always snows in March, so not bloody now!

I tend to not have too much 'full on' winter stuff anymore. I do more layering of lighter jumpers and shirts etc. So I still wear a lot of 'winter' clothes in spring and colder summer days.

EssexLioness · 17/03/2022 17:07

I have a fairly small wardrobe so most of my stuff works for all year round. However, I removed my thicker jumpers/ cardis a few days ago and added my jumpsuits and spring/ summer dresses back into my wardrobe at the age time. I always keep a couple of light-weight jumpers for chillier days/ evenings
