Esprit experiences?

No one seems to mention Esprit much on here but have just ordered a few tops from them and pleasantly surprised. They have a lot of jewel colours like teal and burgundy ( hate fashionable sludge and pastels), a lot of cotton and better quality viscose and some flowy blouses for the middle aged menopausal woman. Wondering if they will wash well and puzzled why they never seem to be mentioned on here. They are also very reasonably priced given even Hush seems to charge triple the price for 100 % polyester. ( Not an ad honest!)

I live in Germany and Esprit was always my go-to for good quality work wear. I used to find them more on the expensive side but now agree with you that compared to many other brands the quality is very good and clothes well priced. I do find it a bit 'safe' though. S Oliver is a brand with similar style/price range which you might like too, not sure if it's widely available in the UK though. Never had any problems washing any clothes from either brand.

EdwinsActsOfKindness · 05/03/2022 08:34

I live in Denmark and recently noticed that most of my wardrobe is Esprit 😳

I find it washes pretty well and they do lots of good basics. I generally buy in their sales or when they’re having promotions (they have a Friends club which regularly do 20% off for example).

Nitgel · 05/03/2022 08:35

They used to have a few shops and concessions in department stores but just online now. Have bought tons from them in the past not so much lately apart from socks. Pretty long established european brand.

SoupDragon · 05/03/2022 08:37

I order loads from there - the bulk of my clothing TBH. I've never had a poor experience from them and they always have such a great range of styles (especially in jeans which come in several styles and "rise" variations)

Floisme · 05/03/2022 08:40

The only thing I've got of theirs is a linen top I bought in a charity shop but I've been impressed and thinking of ordering some T shirts. Like you op, I'd been wondering why they have such a low profile here - I don't know anywhere local that stocks them but that can't be the only reason.

Floisme · 05/03/2022 08:41

Ah just seen they're online only now.

Caranjo · 05/03/2022 08:49

I like them, I get t-shirts from them now and again, have always been happy with them.

MistyFuckingQuigley · 05/03/2022 08:52

I love their stuff, have a few t shirts which are good quality. Got a lovely coat in the Xmas sales and just got a load of holiday stuff in the sales. Not too pricey and better quality than places like Hush.

dudsville · 05/03/2022 08:53

I'd forgotten about them! I used to have great cotton tops from them. Just put the last one out of its misery after 15 years. I shall Google and see what they're up to.

I’m a fan of Esprit and always look out for the shops when in continental Europe. My local independent department store has a small concession.

They have loads of choice, that what I like, eg I got low rise jeans from there before they started becoming fashionable again. And pretty practical, ie you don’t see a nice blouse and then realise half the back is missing. And good colour options. I find the best stuff sells out quite quickly. I haven’t got loads of their stuff but what I do have I wear.

If you sign up for Esprit friends they sometimes send discount cards in the post. I find their returns really easy. The stuff comes in a suitable sized box with a pre printed label, can’t always say that about online deliveries. I managed to send a return without the returns note once but that was swiftly sorted out.

There used to be several shops in a London including a massive one on Regent Street.

Independent Dept store where I am has a small concession and I always get some pieces every year.

JanisMoplin · 05/03/2022 09:00

Good to know they wash well and last. I agree they are not very cutting edge or trendy, but I am quite a staid dresser myself. I didn't realise they were European and don't have actual shops in London.

Independent department store in my town has a concession too, I was just thinking the other day when I went in for something else that some of the clothes looked quite nice! I must go back and check it out. I used to have a lot of Esprit as a teenager.

FindMeInTheSunshine · 05/03/2022 09:16

I buy almost all my t-shirts/tops from Esprit. They work really well for me, and wash well. I'm not exactly fashionable though Smile

theculture · 05/03/2022 09:20

Big of a fan of their tops, basics but with a nice detail or cut that makes it a bit more interesting

Also along with gap can be confident that most of their trouser/jeans fit my particular body (smaller waist big bum and thighs)

Howshouldibehave · 05/03/2022 10:27

I have a lovely linen top from Esprit-I must have been given it but have never known which shop it’s from!

Can I ask how people find the sizing? What would you buy for a 14/16? The size label is cut out of the top I have.

TheVeryThing · 05/03/2022 11:36

Just got 2 blouses for work from Esprit and very happy with them.
I agree that the quality is good, lots of natural fibres and a good range of colours. I rate the stuff I have from there as very useful, definitely not cutting edge.
I think they are pretty true to size. I’m in Ireland so buying from the EU site & have to convert the sizes.

LIZS · 05/03/2022 11:39

Have had lots over the years. Leggings, tops, blouses, dresses, knitwear. Great for basics although I feel not as good quality now and prices are up post brexit. Always buy from sales and often with extra 20%

SoupDragon · 05/03/2022 12:22

I think that is their strength and it goes towards helping with the longevity of their clothes.

Always check the size guide on the page - they often add a comment on the sizing that is based on customer feedback. I'm a 14 on the highstreet and I've had pieces from Esprit that are S, M and L depending on the fit of the item.

70sDuvet · 05/03/2022 12:25

I really like Esprit, there's a consession close to where I am. Everything I have from there is great quality and has lasted well.

On sizing, xs is 8-10, s 10-12, m 12-14, l 14-16, xl 16-18 I would say

inisfree · 05/03/2022 12:28

I had forgotten about them but always found they wore and washed well.

LIZS · 05/03/2022 12:31

I wear anything from M to XL, usually a 14. Agree look at the fit/size info online.

AuntieMarys · 05/03/2022 12:32

I order quite a bit. Loved the shop in Kingston .

MistyFuckingQuigley · 06/03/2022 13:19

I just got a 20% off code from esprit today so I've bought a lovely jumper. Be rude not to Wink

MistyFuckingQuigley · 06/03/2022 13:20

Sorry meant to add the code was STRONG if anyone wants to try and use it.
