Hi. I've posted a couple of times under different names.

Dd has lots of baby hairs (1-2 inches) all around her face / head. When he hair is in a bobble it is very noticeable.it's allover not just at the sides.

Her hair is thin fine and wavy so if she has it down it's a mess at the end of the day. Like mine. It's neither straight or curly.

People comment on her hair every day. She's in y7 and wants hair like most of the other girls.

I know there isn't an answer but any hints and tips or product recommendations please.

I'd be so grateful thank you.

I found the Bleach Reincarnation Mask good on my fine, curly hair (your hair doesn't have to be bleached for it to work; mine isn't). It was recommended on here and worked for several Mnetters. It's about £7 for a 200ml tube in Boots or Superdrug and you don't need a lot.

I've also found the Garnier Hair Foods range to be good, both the shampoo and masks. Using the mask (small amount only) as a leave-in adds weight. The banana one is my favourite.

Silk pillowcase (loads fairy reasonably priced on Amazon). Silk scrunchy to secure hair. This might help prevent breakages. Wide hairband might help obscure the baby hairs at the edge. Put hairspray on brush / hands and run over hair to flatten rogue hairs sticking up without looking like hairspray.

hihellohihello · 23/02/2022 18:14

What styles do the other girls wear? I presume for school it will have to be tied back somehow?

Violetmo0n · 23/02/2022 18:22

Another for garnier hair food.

Hair bands, classic style so no grips that will pull hair.

Hairspray to flatten baby hair whilst up/out of face.

Are you any good at french plaits? Hair spray again to flatten baby hairs or leave in over night to give a nice wave.

Hair style options with some hairspray to flatten to keep tidy etc;
French plaits
Bun, low or high
Half up half down (run straighteners over the bulk to help flatten the wave)
Pony tail and plait

louise5754 · 24/02/2022 09:08

Than she all.

I'm awful at french plaits. I've tried lots.

I'll look into these ideas thank you.

No hair policy at school. Can have it how you want I think. Just no crazy colours or styles. Most of her friends are mixed race with Afro hair and have fake hair platted within their real hair. These are mainly the ones who are saying the nasty things. For my daughter to have these extensions it would cost more and have to be a different type of hair.

Silk pillowcase.
No heated appliances, let hair dry naturally.
Imedeen Hair & Nails Supplement. Obviously, check that she isn’t too young to take supplements.
Blunt cut?

Elsiebear90 · 24/02/2022 09:53

Does you daughter have Afro textured hair? If so, then I think you should seek advice from women with this hair type as caring and style textured hair is very different to European type hair.

User76745333 · 24/02/2022 09:55

Wide Lycra headband worn on the front of her hair!

NightmareLoon · 24/02/2022 09:57

The baby hairs are normal, but she could wear a ponytail and slick the baby hairs down with something so they lie down with the longer hair? Tbh, her friends are not great if they are trading her about her hair. :/

NewcastleOrBust · 24/02/2022 10:01

Can't she carry a comb and brush it at lunchtime if it's a mess by the end of the day?

My dc sleep in satin bonnets (Amazon or Etsy-although M&S sell them now) to stop their hair getting damaged and breaking.

SavoyCabbage · 24/02/2022 10:04

You can get products for baby hair. makeup.uk/product/487275/

CorrBlimeyGG · 24/02/2022 10:11

Hair spray. It sounds obvious, but she does her hair, then sprays hair spray onto a brush/ comb, and goes over the strays. I've spent years looking for a product, always come back to basic hair spray.

I've not tried it, but the Dyson hair dryer claims to solve the problem. It's very very expensive, but I believe they have a thirty day trial period, perhaps order and see if it makes a difference?

UnconditionalSurrender · 24/02/2022 10:26

KMS anti humidity spray is pretty good at stopping flyaways and a tiny spray combed through goes a long way. Stops it frizzing as well. I have fine curly hair

Would she suit a fringe? That way when the rest of her hair is tied back the baby hairs would be blended in with the fringe.

ArnoldBee · 24/02/2022 13:08

I have similar woes. I have found letting it dry naturally in as scraped back low ponytail sets me up for the best. I have also found the more its fiddled with the more unruly it becomes. Your daughter also needs better friends.

givemeallthecheese · 24/02/2022 13:20

Is she tying it back super tight every day for school? This will be causing the breakages no?

JodyAteApples · 24/02/2022 13:30

Can you also contact school to let them know she is being bullied by these girls for her hair. That may also help her feel better about herself too.

GettingStuffed · 24/02/2022 13:58

I've tried this( it was a freebie) but I don't have hair that needs thickening and it worked. It's aimed at post menopausal thinning hair, but it would certainly work for your dd. I suffered from baby fine hair until I gave birth an it got thicker with each.

louise5754 · 24/02/2022 15:09

Hi. I've said I'd inform school. She has asked me not to.

She's white but her hair is just flat and thin.

Tried a fringe to hide the baby hairs. It worked well but in the rain / after pe / when she's hot it's mental.

I have fine hair but a lot of it. For a while I was using a Pantene shampoo with Filloxane (in a teal coloured bottle). It was very effective but made my hair a bit too bushy with the haircut I had at the time.

KirstenBlest · 24/02/2022 17:12

Take her to a good hairdresser who can cut your DD's type of hair.
This is likely to be an older hairdresser as younger hairdressers may only have done straight styles

Your daughter is only young and hair changes during life

Her friends are out of order and she needs to nip the comments in the bud.

gunnersgold · 24/02/2022 17:44

She needs to learn to style it . I doubt the girls wake up with perfect hair . You can use creams etc to calm flyaways. I had curly hair when everyone had straight but I have the last laugh now because everyone wants my hair !

Vthirtyone · 24/02/2022 21:27

You get a lot of new hair growth with puberty, it doesn't help right now, but it's possibly at its worst now. Could discuss keratin treatments with a hairdresser to help with frizziness.

timeforteaforyouandme · 24/02/2022 23:44

Show her some beautiful photos of kaia gerber rocking styled baby hairs
