Bardot dress for work

I have a meeting with some clients in two weeks. Having wfh for nearly two years and not been into the office, I don’t fit into my work clothes at all, so I need a new dress.

Been struggling to find anything but came across a Bardot style dress that, whilst strictly speaking an occasion dress, I think can work as an office dress with simple court shoes. Just not 100% sure if it’s too much.

It’s a meeting in the office followed by dinner and drinks.

If it wasn’t for the Bardot style, I wouldn’t question it and would have worn it as it’s very me. My style is feminine and tailored, if that makes sense.

What do you think?

It's a no from me. Too occasion-y.

Octomore · 10/02/2022 18:55

Off the shoulder necklines are usually a no, when it comes to smart office wear. It's not something I'd wear to meet clients.

100problems · 10/02/2022 18:56

Nice dress but not a client meeting dress.

moleeye · 10/02/2022 18:57

It's a no from me. I don't think it's very professional.

Lovely dress though!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/02/2022 18:57

I suppose it depends on your work but it wouldn’t be something I would wear - it’s like a wedding guest dress.

AnyFucker · 10/02/2022 18:58

That is not a dress for a professional occasion

ODFOx · 10/02/2022 18:58

It depends entirely on what the norm is for your industry/company.
I'm not sure that an off the shoulder dress would be formal enough for a non-creative environment, but it is lovely.

PrincessesRUs · 10/02/2022 18:59

I think you could get away with it with opaque tights and a cardie or jacket over the top

GrandPrix · 10/02/2022 18:59

Nope sorry

Dressconfused · 10/02/2022 19:00

Dammit! Urgh! I was hoping the two straps on the shoulder would make it less off the shoulder.

I have similar dresses I’ve work for work, either sleeveless or mini sleeves, but never off the shoulder, hence why I wasn’t sure with this one!

Shoulders out isn't something I would associate with work-appropriate attire. It's not a very professional looking dress imo, not structured enough

DSGR · 10/02/2022 19:01

No you can’t wear that to a meeting.

HasaDigaEebowai · 10/02/2022 19:01

Nope

Riverlee · 10/02/2022 19:01

I think it’s fine with a jacket for the office meeting, and dressy enough for the dinner.

Dressconfused · 10/02/2022 19:03

I’m very pear shaped - can’t pull or structured! So I always go for tight top and loose bottom, which is impossible to find at the right length.

What if I wore it to a client lunch? I have another one next month! So meeting only in the restaurant but again with clients.

*pull off

Fuckitydoodah · 10/02/2022 19:03

You could maybe get away with it with a jacket or blazer over the top, but definitely not on its own.

Fuckitydoodah · 10/02/2022 19:04

If you've got another meeting coming up, wouldn't it be worth buying something new?

Lucia574 · 10/02/2022 19:18

It’s a party dress!

headintheproverbial · 10/02/2022 19:18

No I don't think so. Apart from anything else it's quite summery.

happyjack12 · 10/02/2022 19:19

no, not client facing, irrelevant of where you meet them.

gluenotsoup · 10/02/2022 19:19

No. It’s an occasion dress, and it would look out if place to the point of being odd.
It’s lovely, just not for work.

I think it would be ok if you wore a jacket over it to work and kept it on all day.

Skeam · 10/02/2022 22:11

Only with a jacket that stayed on.
