My keratosis pilaris is no more-is

I’ve always had KP on my arms, upper arms as well as forearms. Used various exfoliators, urea creams, glycolic etc. They helped but never eradicated it completely.

But about two months ago I started taking daily Vit D supplements (I use the Better You spray in the red bottle. Costs about a fiver) and I noticed about 6 weeks later, whilst idly stroking my arms, that all my KP had vamoosed. Nothing else in my routine has changed so this is the only thing I can put it down to. It's such a novelty for me having silky smooth arms.

Worth a try if anyone else would like to get rid of those pesky bumps.

This is interesting! I burnt my bum once snorkelling in Spain and the KP all vanished from my upper thighs. I thought I'd burnt it off Grin but maybe it was the vit D...

PurpleSneakers · 26/01/2022 06:43

Agreed @EducatingArti

KP can indicate a gluten sensitivity

Egghead68 · 26/01/2022 06:45

Didn’t work for me.

Be careful not to overdose on vitamin D

friskybivalves · 26/01/2022 06:50

Ugh my poor son is plagued by KP. He is 10 and gets teased at school. We have tried cerave and meliorate. Not vit d or urea and the gluten thing is fascinating!

OnAQuestForHealth · 27/08/2022 16:56

Try magnesium oil for keratosis pilaris. It was worked wonders for me.

Thank you. What do you do with it? Rub it on? Take it orally...?

Fabuleuse · 28/08/2022 10:00

Mine improves with sun in the summer and it's also improving as I get older (I'm 38). I've not done anything to it for years. My 8 year old has it quite badly on his arms and cheeks, which I also had as a child and my parents thought mine was connected to sugar intake so I also find the gluten theory interesting.

MyADHDUsername · 28/08/2022 10:52

I saw something online recently about this being to do with a lack of omega 3

I've taken Omega 3 for years and no difference. It could be that I'm not able to absorb it properly...

@GiantHaystacks2021

Urea 100% worked for me. The cream that you put on your feets. Brilliant for KP - for me anyway.
Which cream? 100% urea is just urea surely?

I read it that it had worked 100% for that poster.

SoupDragon · 28/08/2022 10:59

Sunlight gets rid of it on my legs.

PurdyLilThang · 28/08/2022 11:01

Sun exposure totally gets rid of mine. It usually creeps back in mid winter. So the Vit D thing makes sense!

Flexitol has 30% urea, that’s the highest I’ve seen.

I've got higher from Amazon.

Scholl cracked heel complete balm.
Sold in pharmacies.
Apply once a day after showering/bath for about 2 weeks. KP gone. It's the urea in it that clears up KP.

KangFang · 28/08/2022 18:18

That Scholl cream has about 5% or 10% urea in it. That's all that's needed.

OiFrogg · 28/08/2022 18:19

Mine goes when pregnant which I assumed was hormonal but maybe it was the vitamins...

I have a Eucerin cream with 10% Urea. I'm not cured yet!

I used the Scholl one, not Eucerin.
It cleared mine up in a couple of weeks and I had the worst kp going.

CosmopolitanPlease · 29/08/2022 16:21

I take 4000iu vitamin d, am gluten free and still have kp.

I've tried all of the usual creams and exfoliants. My kp is currently at its lowest level ever (about 90% clear) through a combination of CeraVe SA cream, exfoliating every other day with Soap and Glory gloves (with soap) and getting my skin in the sun as often as possible. If I don't keep up this regime it comes right back.

Hoppinggreen · 29/08/2022 16:27

Like a couple of other people mine seemed to bugger off from my late 30s
DS13 has it but doesn’t seem too bothered

Taranta · 29/08/2022 16:27

I had this for years on the back of my arms and then started using This Works dry leg oil on it, got rid of it in days. It’s amazing stuff.
