What are Oasis & Warehouse like now online?

I used to buy so much from these 2 shops as the sizing & shapes fitted me well. When they first went online I ordered some bits but the quality wasn’t nearly as good so it put me off.
I keep getting discount vouchers & looking online there are some things I like the look of so I’m tempted to try again. I used to like some of their jeans but there are so many variations now on one style I have no idea which to go for.

Anyone else buy from either or these? What’s the quality been like? Are the jeans any good? I’m 5’3” size 12ish.

Not like they used to be, as far as I could tell. I used to buy quite a bit from both, but when I checked the websites after the shops closed (some time after, it wasn’t just tail-end of sale time) it all looked very cheap and nasty and not worth bothering with. Much more boo hoo/missguided type level than they used to be- wall to wall polyester 🙁

MistySkiesAfterRain · 24/01/2022 11:55

Mango is looking good quality these days, lots of cotton basics.

I've never bought anything from Oasis so can't comment on them.

I never bought anything from Warehouse until two weeks before last Christmas, somehow I stumbled across a dress I liked online then down the rabbit hole I went.
So I have no idea what they were like prior to six weeks ago. I ended up buying 6 dresses (ordered 9 but only because I wasn't sure of their sizing). 2 a very long knitted dresses incredibly soft and I absolutely love them but not washed yet so not sure how well they will last.
The others are summer dresses, absolutely beautiful and the fabrics are good quality with good weight, drape and under layers on a couple of them .Not washed yet and won't be wearing until the summer. But I do like them a lot, a lot. I love the styles and the fabrics and they look very well made.

However they were all in the sale and I wouldn't pay full price because I don't know about the washing aspect yet. If they last as well as they look, I'll go back.

Not a single one of their other items on their website attracted me in the least so I might use them in the future but only for dresses.

They are now owned by Boohoo - and Boohoo garment factories in Leicestershire were partly responsible for covid sweeping through Leicester and keeping then in nearly a permanent lockdown.

They are basically like slave Labour, terrible working conditions, paying less than minimum wage, forcing people to work rather than self isolate at the start of the lockdowns. It was reported in the press and their value had £1bn wiped out pretty much overnight

So owned by a shit company with no morals and the quality is horrible

CorrBlimeyGG · 24/01/2022 13:23

If you care at all about women's rights, please don't buy from Boohoo companies.

Littlemiss74 · 24/01/2022 13:40

Wow ok, I think I’ll give them a miss then & stop the constant emails coming to me. Thanks everyone

I bought a couple of oasis tops once they went online. Totally horrible cut and fabric not original oasis quality at all. Such a shame as I really liked both shops but avoid now. Lucky I have plenty clothes from both. Just need to stop eating to wear them!

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 24/01/2022 16:03

Oasis were always a bit of a polyester nightmare but they’ve become even more so since the loss of their high street presence.

I loved Oasis and Warehouse back in the day. Wanted a new top for a night out or starting a new job? Oasis. Every single time. Loved it.

So I really am sad now that it’s owned by Boohoo as nothing can justify using them

Littlemiss74 · 24/01/2022 17:43

@MabelMoo23 I was the same & now having real trouble finding an alternative. Can I ask where you shop now that’s similar?

I'm really lamenting the demise of Oasis. One of the few shops that sometimes had something nice that fit me. Whenever I've ordered online recently since the change of ownership the material has been awful and doesn't fit well. I'd be unlikely to shop from there again.

Littlemiss74 · 24/01/2022 18:07

Thanks for all the replies - just wondering if anyone can suggest similar alternative shops that I could try as I’m definitely not keen on using these now but its annoying as they fitted me so well.

I’m 5’3” size 12 and pear shaped although possibly heading more apple shaped thanks to peri-menopause😩 Just really want to find some nice things to wear again as have let myself go a bit in lockdown & would like to give myself a boost but don’t know where to shop anymore.

Watching with interest - also looking for a replacement shop for the same reasons.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/01/2022 20:29

I used to buy a lot in Warehouse and actually did order a couple of things (lured in by Instagram ads!) without realising they were now part of Boohoo. I got jeans which were the weirdest fit ever, and a jumper that had the cuff not stitched on to the arm! So back they went, and never again.

In terms of shops at a similar price point maybe Zara (but fit can be a nightmare), Monki, and H&M? Oliver Bonas has nice stuff but is much more expensive. Also don’t forget Depop and Vinted for bargains! I got a lovely Warehouse dress in the summer for £12, and have saved searches for Arket, &otherstories, and Cos.

lulla12345 · 24/01/2022 20:36

Some of the buyers from oasis and warehouse have set up new brands which are stocked on Next. One is called Love and Roses which is very similar to oasis.

Can you explain what this means - would a buyer have bought up certain ranges or whatever? I was wondering what happened to everyone who was responsible for making and choosing the clothes at Oasis, surely they can't just disappear?!
lulla12345 · 24/01/2022 21:24

Yes some of the people responsible for designing and sourcing the old oasis range have set up a new brand. So the look of the brand is similar.

DoubleGauze · 24/01/2022 21:29

I used to love oasis too op. I've not bought from there since they were taken over.

To be honest I make most of my own clothes now but still pick up the occasional second hand oasis dress or top on ebay.

DoubleGauze · 24/01/2022 21:36

@lulla12345 thank you!

I've just looked them up on Instagram , I might be making some purchases soon.

@BalladOfBarryAndFreda

Oasis were always a bit of a polyester nightmare but they’ve become even more so since the loss of their high street presence.

Not back in the day they weren't, I have some beautiful clothes from Oasis, including several 100% silk items, real leather, wool and linen as well as lovely beaded evening wear.

The quality went to shit before boo boo took over.

They used to make great stuff.

Puppylucky · 24/01/2022 22:59

I'm not recognising my experience at all. I have bought stuff from both Warehouse and Oasis on line recently and whilst I can't speak to their ethics the quality was really good as were the cuts.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 25/01/2022 08:48

What does ‘back in the day’ mean, @JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon?

I would agree there were a few nice bits in there 20yrs ago (I bought a nice silk top for my hen do from there) but the fabric quality has been in decline for a good 7 years, if not longer. That’s true of everywhere on the high street though, where prices have rocketed and fabric quality has plummeted, we’re being asked to pay £70+ for polyester routinely now.

I'm probably talking pre 2010, and mainly late 90s early 00s when Oasis bridged the gap between Topshop and places like French Connection or ted baker.

They lost their way when they started to go cheaper.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 25/01/2022 09:04

Then yes, I agree with you about Oasis in that period

TheLazyBeagle · 25/01/2022 09:11

Absolute shit. I’m gutted as I used to love warehouse and get the vast majority of my clothes from there, their shapes used to suit my figure and the quality of the fabric was good. Now it’s awful.
I am still seeking a reliable alternative. Might give Mango a try.
