Fragrance free sanitary pads

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 23/01/2022 11:46

Looking for fragrance free pads (I gather Unscented or Unlerfumed can still contain fragrance).
Some but not all Always ones according to their website have no fragrance but I’m suspicious as the “odour neutraliser” is likely to be fragrance? I have period underwear but I don’t use them for the whole of my period. Some of the more “natural” pads tend to fall apart while in use, though, so I still need something with wings and fairly robust.

Thanks.

I feel your pain. Supermarket/boots etc own brands tend to be unscented ime.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 23/01/2022 12:05

It’s a good a place as any to start. I’ve use always most of my life so it’s a bit annoying. Trying to get past an issue of recurrent thrush so looking at what I can control.

I use Time of The Month. At one point Boots* stocked them but now i buy online. (May not have been Boots, but definitely a shop i regularly used.)

Watto1 · 23/01/2022 12:13

I use reusable pads these days but I’m pretty sure all of the supermarket ‘basic’ pads are fragrance free. Sainsburys certainly are (well, they were 6 months ago anyway).

I only use Natracare. Organic cotton, plastic free, fragrance free. I usually order from Amazon.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 23/01/2022 12:15

Always infinity are brilliant, and no scent.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 23/01/2022 12:18

I really like bodyform. No scent and they seem softer and less "rustly" than others too.

RoyTroyAndChris · 23/01/2022 12:18

The purple Bodyform (night) towels are unperfumed.

merryhouse · 23/01/2022 12:24

The Extra Special Always - not sure what they're called, Platinum? come in small packets, quite possibly pink (there was a distinct lack of choice one month) are at least not scented as hideously as the ordinary ones. (I used them for a long time too - very disappointed)

Tesco do some (I think they call them Free Spirit) which are ok. Still haven't worked out how I'm intended to use the little sticky tab to wrap them up, but the actual wearing is fine.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/01/2022 12:25

Sainsbury’s own brand are unscented, and Tesco ones used to be, but I haven’t used them for a while.

itwasntaparty · 23/01/2022 12:29

Body form pink

Theworldisquiethere · 23/01/2022 12:30

Natracare are my favourite, really comfy too, but they’re on the more expensive side. I have discovered that both Tesco and sainsburys own cheapest ones seem to be fragrance free and are fine on my super sensitive skin though.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 23/01/2022 15:59

I think Always infinity is the “extra special” one, but very expensive. I have been using the Platinum ones as the regular always just don’t seem to stay in place as well, but I suspect they’re not fragrance free. I find similar issues with some of the own brand ones but it might just be a case of trial and error

Natracare are brilliant.

CurlyFerret · 23/01/2022 16:20

I use Morrison’s own brand. Took me ages to find some that didn’t irritate but these are good for me and as a bonus super cheap.

dementedpixie · 23/01/2022 16:22

Always sensitive (pink pack I think) are unscented
I buy bodyform for dd as they are mostly unscented too

Lovemusic33 · 23/01/2022 16:23

I buy bodyform (me and 2 DD’s), always smell horrible 🤢 and since they made them scented they give me thrush. I have started using washable pads when at home and period pants on lighter days.

Sparkai · 23/01/2022 16:26

I use Always sensitive. They're fragrance free. And I have never noticed a rustle, but I only use the lightest flow ones because I have very light periods (minipill)

ouch321 · 23/01/2022 16:27

Always Infinity, they're the premium range. I really rate them, they are £££ so I try and buy them on offer.

PieonaBarm · 23/01/2022 16:55

TOTM (Time of the Month) currently 50% off first order with SWITCH50

No added fragrance. Can get them in Tesco for regular, super, some towels and panty liners but I need the super plus tampons so order them online.

Anything I buy that is mainstream must have fragrance added even if it says it's not as it gives me terrible thrush. Never a problem with these!

I use natracare too. I have a fragrance allergy. Their sticky stuff is also colophony free (as I checked with them as also allergic to this).

Robust products. Never had any problems with them breaking up etc.

Olive122 · 23/01/2022 18:44

Asda’s own brand, they are very similar to the Always sensitive as they have a cotton top layer and are much more comfortable than the plasticky feel that a lot of pads seem to have.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 23/01/2022 18:56

Great suggestions. Maybe I’ll try a few different ones. Unfortunately I have up to 12 days bleeding so it’s a big expense (supermarket brands are much more reasonably priced). I’m not sure if the modibodi pants for the light days makes the thrush situation worse. On the more normal flow days I use pads as I can’t mess around with changing underwear at work but I can see wearing pads for almost half a month won’t make thrush any better, especially if fragranced. Very annoying.

I use natracare and sainsburys cheap basic ones too.

I’m baffled at why they make scented sanitary products. No one seems to want them. The smell in the aisle makes me want to gag.

Blahblahblahyadayadayada · 23/01/2022 19:25

Squiz81 my thoughts exactly. There seems to be more and more of them, too, which is bizarre, given the general trend towards less is more (or maybe there isn’t).
I’ve retched at people smelling of BO but never have I ever thought “gosh, that person reeks off menstruation Hmm”.
