How can I get rid of or disguise my jowls?! Photo attached

I'm mid 50s and getting increasingly jowly. I need to lose a stone and a half but worried that'll make things even worse. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them, improve them or disguise them?

TIA

Smile!!! And concentrate on your beautiful skin Envy

Or get a face lift don't!!

TheOccupier · 19/01/2022 14:51

Hello, there was quite a useful thread about this recently:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/4449959-what-one-thing-would-you-advise-me-to-do-about-my-saggy-jowls

I think weight loss does make jowls/facial sagging worse, at least it has with people I know! That old saying that after a certain age you have to choose between your face and your arse...

Purpleavocado · 19/01/2022 14:51

I would assume fillers would help. I don't think makeup will make much difference to be honest as it's more the structure of your face now. Do you try to draw attention away from them, eg with hair or eye-makeup?

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoorNeil · 19/01/2022 14:53

You have beautiful skin!

I agree with smile more...... I cant help but notice my very smiley, chatty friends have lovely laughter lines as opposed to jowly me. Shame I can't turn back time or stop being a misery arse HmmGrin

insatiableme · 19/01/2022 14:54

COG thread lift looks good. And not as pricey as other procedures.

littlegreencloud · 19/01/2022 14:55

I'm off to a skin consultation tomorrow at a cosmetic clinic, so I may be able to advise more after that Grin

I sympathise. I am late 40s and heading firmly in your direction re marionnette lines, (though I am not seeing you as jowly actually). I am hoping that there may be some sort of skin tightening treatment that will help.

Nah, its nothing to do with that. Its genetics as to how well and how long the muscles in your face hold everything up. Once they go your lower face goes too.

Threads are shit! Honestly biggest con and waste of money.
Imabouttoexplode · 19/01/2022 14:58

There's only certain things that work. Mid face fillers and a face lift. That's about it really. Nothing else can or will help.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 19/01/2022 15:01

I had fillers in my lines and some in my cheeks and the back of my jowls. I don't know how the fillers in my jowls worked but it gave me my jawline back. I look much better, fresher and tighter and will be having it done again when it wears off.

TonkinLenkicks · 19/01/2022 15:04

Your skin is so beautiful. Nothing else to add!

AuntieJoyce · 19/01/2022 15:06

Thread lift or morpheus

This doesn't make sense. Muscles hold things up for as long as you keep working them, not because your genetics say 'Your muscles will be strong until you are 50, and then give way.'

Muscles don't 'go', they are 'let go'.

EarringsandLipstick · 19/01/2022 15:16

Your skin is gorgeous. Really clear & blemish free.

I really wouldn't do anything, other than smile as PP said (tho I appreciate that sounds a bit annoying - 'smile!')

You have a perception of yourself but you really look fine & I wouldn't have even noticed anything 'jowly' about you.

Snoken · 19/01/2022 15:20

You could try face yoga, I do it and think it helps. Especially the high cheeks ones, they sort of lift the rest of the face up as they plump up.

Wallawallakoala · 19/01/2022 15:21

I was just going to say how good your skin is!! If you do wear makeup strong but classy eyes.

Honestly though, there is nothing noticeable and really amazing skin I wouldn't worry at all

Turnitupto11 · 19/01/2022 16:00

I do usually smile Smile but then you can't see the jowls, so thought I'd post a miserable photo Grin

Uh, no this is simply not true, Have you never noticed that the people who win sporting events are all, like, young? No matter how fit and active you keep yourself, your muscles slowly decline and your ability to use your body as well and fast as you used to declines with it. The decline is accelerated in women post menopause.

Turnitupto11 · 19/01/2022 16:08

I don't wear much make up, my skin is very sensitive and I never mastered eye liner Blush . Any suggestions? I have No 7 mascara. I wear a little blusher or bronzer. My hair is quite big and curly and dark so does draw the eyes away from my neck I guess.

Thanks for all the compliments Smile I've done nothing to deserve it, just good genes! My mum is in her 80s and has no wrinkles.

I've had Profhilo a few times and that has tightened up my lower area - I also had a really small amount of filler put in my lines (and I mean small). Like a PP said, filler in your cheeks and just in front of your ears (oddly) makes a difference.

There's an element of truth in what you're saying, but you're ruling out a fundamental truth of the body: muscles are stronger when you work them. If you don't think that's true, well... no idea what to tell you!

There's plenty of post-menopausal body builders. The only thing that's different about them is that they didn't say 'Oh well, I'm post menopausal, now, so my muscles will just peter out...', in the way that you're advocating. They worked muscles, and the muscles got stronger.

Work your muscles, and they stay in better nick. Not rocket science. I'm not saying that we'd all stay like 20 year olds, I'm saying that it massively helps.

Turnitupto11 · 19/01/2022 16:33

What sort of cost am I looking at for fillers? And how do they do it?
