How can I get rid of or disguise my jowls?! Photo attached

I'm mid 50s and getting increasingly jowly. I need to lose a stone and a half but worried that'll make things even worse. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them, improve them or disguise them?

TIA

Yep, fillers. Done by a proper professional with a light touch they're undetectable. I go to an excellent Dr in SE London, she's a former surgeon specialising in women's health. PM me if you want details.

You could try Gua Sha facial massage. It may not provide the results of fillers etc but for the sake of an approximately £6 massage tool and a bottle of facial oil it's worth a try! There are loads of tutorial videos on You Tube.

[quote StarCourt]@lionheart678 I have some but I do have make up on in the before photo. The after photo is no make up and 3 hrs after having the filler done

Lovely result! How long have you had the filler in? Wondering if it’s lasting well and how long it will last.

MyQuietPlace · 20/01/2022 15:44

I'm the same, I'm 62 and looked miserable even when I was smiling. I got my marionette lines done and now look and feel happier

@Taoneusa my fillers last 12 - 18 months.

Imissmoominmama · 20/01/2022 17:13

@Turnitupto11- can you post a smile photo?

Turnitupto11 · 20/01/2022 17:29

@Taoneusa I only had it done Saturday

CrimbleCrumble1 · 20/01/2022 18:08

Fillers in the jowls and some in the cheeks to lift the area. I have it each year as I was looking grumpy and I’m not!

EmmaH2022 · 20/01/2022 18:13

OP I see great skin and a lovely smile

I am interested to hear more about face yoga though.

MabelMoo23 · 20/01/2022 18:14

Filler in your cheeks - mid cheeks near your ears like a previous poster said - it will help, like scaffolding for your face

Looks great .
Turnitupto11 · 20/01/2022 18:38

Yes, the lines almost disappear when I smile .. but otherwise it's a resting bitch face! Grin

I've enquired locally about fillers and will see what they say. I won't really be able to afford it, but could save.

Fillers are pointless unless you want (and can comfortably afford) to commit to having them done regularly IMO. They can look good but it’s a gamble as they can also look really awful/obvious (just look at all the celebs who have access to top surgeons etc and still look unnaturally “done”) You have much better than average skin and if you say the “jowls” (which look fine to me anyway!) disappear when you smile… try and do things that make you smile more! Honestly OP, you look great.

but they are not that expensive - I pay 230 every 12 - 18 months whereas my hair is 165 every 8 weeks. ( Cue: are you mad? I get my hair done by Bessie in Back Street for 25 quid)

Neither are they pointless as they work.

Back21970 · 21/01/2022 14:23

My fillers cost about £250 and lasted over a year, need them done again soon. I also do some face exercises but it’s something I need to look into more as loads seem to be available online and it’s free! I also recently bought a Foreo Bear and maybe see a slight improvement if I use it regularly. The jade roller also worth a go. I’m 56 and the thought of any kind of surgery terrifies me so a face lift not an option but I’ll try anything otherwise cost permitting!

CrimbleCrumble1 · 21/01/2022 14:29

My cost about £270 or £300, I also get Botox twice a year and I budget £50 a month. I used to get my roots done each month which cost £45 but since the pandemic have done my own colour so I haven’t even noticed the cost of my fillers.

Imissmoominmama · 21/01/2022 14:29

You have a beautiful smile- just do that a lot!

Thirtytimesround · 21/01/2022 14:38

Your skin is amazing OP! And from what I can see, it looks like you have great bone structure too.

The ‘jowls’ make you look like what you are, an attractive woman heading towards sixty. You could try to fight time with face lift / botox / fillers etc but honestly I do not think that ever looks good. Just eat well, drink lots of water and exercise, and accept that your face is aging - don’t be sad to look your age.

Turnitupto11 · 21/01/2022 16:07

Thank you for the replies.

I don't mind looking my age, the lines to my chin just seem suddenly to have become very visible and the jowls that are starting, I guess I'm thinking about how bad they could get.

I always want to know the ages of those who say “just smile, be happy to look your age”
That’s something I would have posted 10 years ago too.

I'm similar - the only thing that helps is wearing a mask everywhere. Finally a benefit to living through a pandemic! Grin

SmellyWellyWoo · 21/01/2022 19:21

If you hasn't stated your age, I'd have said 50 rather than mid '50s. Your expression is sadly 😢
