Foot hard skin removal

Name99 · 07/01/2022 21:13

Can anyone recommend me a really good cream or treatment for hard skin on feet removal.
A few years ago I had a salon treatment, I can't remember what it was called but it involved having my feet wrapped in cling film like material is this still a thing or can anyone suggest something to use at home?
Thanks

As for those of you saying you find a microplane to be the most successful thing you have used on your feet, then you haven’t been going to the right chiropodist! However, there are plenty of rubbish ones, which is why I suggest a recommendation for one.

I can't afford one. But using the foot file and a urea cream, my feet are very soft and no issues I like to keep them like that so i would be there every week to keep them soft!

I look after my feet properly so no need to waste time and money on chiropodist visits. A good foot file and Flexitol is all that's needed to keep my feet in perfect condition.

Footner has always failed me. I only ever get flaky, itchy feet about 8 or 9 days after application and once its gone my feet look barely any different.

Urea cream and a file work best but I hate hate hate the feel of the cream, its thick and slimy and smells horrible.

Maybe i'll stick with hobbit feet.

Name99 · 08/01/2022 14:34

What % urea cream should i be looking for?

MaybeHe & Maple, you both sound like you don’t have any issues with your feet. Sadly, it is really nothing to do with whether you look after your feet or not, some people naturally are harder on their feet than others and need more help. Different gaits, pressure, skin types etc, etc.
MabeHe, you need to visit every couple of months, not every week.
Maple, you are very fortunate you dont require extra help.

Flexitol heel balm, but putting it on over untreated feet if you have alot of hard skin isnt going to give optimum results. You really need to get all of the skin removed properly. That is if you have a lot of it of course!
WowIlikereallyhateyou · 08/01/2022 14:42

I see you had a salon pedicure before, sadly that isnt going to remove the skin, neither is a footner.

The only issue I have is I have pump bumps I think they're called?! The lumps on back of heels, and also internal bone issues I'm quite obsessive with them though so I use a salux exfoliating cloth in the shower with soap every day, in between toes etc and then flexitol or whatever cream I have to hand on them Once a week or so I use the foot file

I certainly needed help when I used to run a lot but now I absolutely hate running and my feet are so much happier. Grin

Maple, yes running can cause LOTS of issues!

I had an amazing pedicure in Egypt last week, my feet look amazing I want to keep on top of it, so its maintenance I'm after rather than lots of hard skin removal

Slather it on at bedtime and pop some socks on.

Do you remember when people use to let fish eat their feet?

MordenLarch · 08/01/2022 15:18

Don’t whatever you do get someone to cut the hard skin away with a curved razor blade. I had this ‘treatment’ once and was left bleeding and in agony!

Whatsyourfavouritescarymovie · 08/01/2022 15:37

I use Beauty Formulas hard skin cream from Savers, 80p, smells like peppermint and works amazing! I don't know how it works but all the hard skin is gone within a couple of hours after use, it does come back so you have to use it at least a couple of times a week but it's the only thing I've found that helps. I did recently purchase some of those plastic sock treatment things that supposedly make your whole foot peel after a week, haven't used it yet but for £1 I had to get it, also from Savers, if it works well I'll report back

TheChosenTwo · 08/01/2022 22:19

@KiloWhat I do! My brother got my mum a voucher for one of those fish pedicures for Mother’s Day one year, she quietly binned the voucher Grin the idea of it turns my stomach!

FlowerFlour · 08/01/2022 22:23

Footer just seemed to take all the grip off my feet; I skidded down the stairs on my glass-smooth soles, it was scary.

I recommend using a foot file on the rough parts, rub in some Flexitol cream before bed then put socks on over the top to help the cream penetrate. It'll keep your feet smooth but not dangerously smooth!

I had that once. That was a short lived fad!
thecapitalsunited · 08/01/2022 22:27

The only thing that’s ever worked for my feet is to see a podiatrist on a regular basis. My feet grow hard skin like it’s a job so between sessions I use a foot file and CCS Foot Care Cream at night.

Name99 · 08/01/2022 22:39

Yeah I had a few fish pedicures, one actually broke my skin made it bleed

maybe they slipped a piranha in for an express pedi.

It bloody felt like it, the woman in charge of the fish wouldn't have it that it had broken the skin

Look at Margaret Dabbs - Her stuff is excellent.

I get great results from dry foot file, the foot mousse (scrub) then finish with foot oil or lotion.

Her hygiene cream is great if you ever get athletes foot or hard skin build up - you use in for 14 days overnight

Aderyn21 · 08/01/2022 23:29

I always thought those fish pedicures had the potential to spread disease. Do you really want the same fish who've been eating other peoples dead skin to be anywhere near yours?
Apart from professional help from a chiropodist, I think the best thing is small, amount of filing regularly and good foot lotion
