Foot hard skin removal

Can anyone recommend me a really good cream or treatment for hard skin on feet removal.
A few years ago I had a salon treatment, I can't remember what it was called but it involved having my feet wrapped in cling film like material is this still a thing or can anyone suggest something to use at home?
Thanks

I like a foot file, like a big Emery board, used on dry feet. Then a foot cream with urea, I’ve got a Scholl one.

Theunamedcat · 07/01/2022 21:17

Footner the rule is you have to take pictures and share them on sporners corner though

EmmaC78 · 07/01/2022 21:18

Agree with the footner recommendation.

Mumdiva99 · 07/01/2022 21:19

A Scholl cheese grater on the bottom of the feet. Then foot cream, slather it on, wrap your feet in cling film and put socks on. Sleep like that and wash the next morning. Be careful walking I'm the clingfilm, cream, sock combination as it's slippy!!

Footner.

yes, footner, or HomeBargains knock off one....I was just raking through the bathroom baskets of doom to check the **Emergency Emergency Toilet Roll supply and found two sachets. I am going to do bugger all on Tuesday evening and sit with my feet in the plastic baggies.

**toilet roll is kept in the vanity under the sink, with a spare on the topshelf hidden behind the sprays. Emergency spares ...two..are in the bottom basket behind the door, EmergencyEmergency supplies..four rolls.. are in the "empty" top basket of doom that no one can reach.

Ooh I like the look of the footner things, are they really that good?

Sounds like a foot mask, the clingfilm just acts to generate warmth. Scholl foot cream is brilliant. But I always do a foot peel in the winter and by summer have lovely soft feet

Yes they are really good

Footner. It’s amazing and horrifying and works so well.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 07/01/2022 23:48

Microplane foot file. It's incredible, but be careful as tempting to do too much and make your feet sore!
Use it on dry feet, then put a urea based foot cream on and socks

A ped egg followed by a foot mask

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 07/01/2022 23:53

A Newton's sponge or a boots chiropodist sponge.
All dry skin will be gone in a few minutes. Then moisturiser.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 07/01/2022 23:53

In fact here, I'm exposing my foot shame

Manky dry heel (pic after foot mask)
Baby smooth heel (pic after about a minute with a microplane foot file)

Footner is good fun but you may well find that after the delightful grossness you're still left with hard skin on the heel. A Newton's chiropody sponge will soon see that off.

Ditto. I’ve tried everything over the years and spent a fortune on chiropodists and home treatments.

Microplane and Flexitol are 100% successful on my hooves!

RNBrie · 08/01/2022 07:52

Footner is amazing but it made my feet quite sore, I think I needed some of the hard bits to actually protect my feet! It didn't last very long either, my feet were back to manky within weeks...

I have much more maintainable results with a microplane file. Use it every couple of days after a shower and my feet are much better.

Hotyogahotchoc · 08/01/2022 07:53

I have the same issue but usually find just dry filing or using one of those spinning foot file things and soap & glory foot cream before bed works wonders

ReluctantEarlyRiser · 08/01/2022 07:58

I had a great foot treatment when they soaked, scrubbed and then put paraffin wax on my feet!

Snugglepumpkin · 08/01/2022 08:05

Soak your feet, go over with either a sugar or salt scrub &/or a pumice stone then get a really thick/heavy duty moisturiser cream (or vaseline if that's all you've got) and coat your feet in it. I mean with loads of the stuff, not just enough to soak in easily.
Put on a pair of lightweight socks then go to bed.
Sometimes I put a heavier pair of socks over them because the light ones will get greasy with all the moisturiser & it works best if your feet are warm.
When you get up in the morning you'll be amazed at how much softer your feet are.
Do it the next day & tons more dead skin comes off & your feet will be even softer.

I've got one of those foot baths & when I can be bothered to do it once a week my feet look like they belong to someone else.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 08/01/2022 08:42

Newton's chiropody sponge .

lookinggood · 08/01/2022 10:01

Where do you get a micro plane foot file?

Margaret Dabbs foot file. Never work on a wet foot or the hard skin will build up again.

Foot specialist here, as for Footner They take a bit of superficial skin off, however the acid in them can cause problems for some people who have nasty skin reactions. If i were you i would invest in a visit to a good foot health professional, they will remove hard skin and prepare your feet. You can then use a good urea based cream to keep on top of them. Any amount of footners/ creams/ pumice/files etc will never achieve the reults you will get from some good professional help.
