How to dress for an occasion with massive boobs

SparrowNest · 02/01/2022 16:03

I’ve already had slightly disproportionate boobs, but now I’m breastfeeding and wearing a 34GG which honestly is still a bit tight, I think I might actually need an H. My waist and hip measurements are a size 10. I’ve got broader than average shoulders, but not extremely so.

What the hell am I supposed to wear to a wedding? I’d need maybe a size 18 dress to fit my boobs, which would drown me everywhere else. I could try stretchy fabric, but I don’t think jersey tends to look very smart and even with the stretch I think I’d need to size up. Tailoring would be even more hopeless. How am I supposed to look decent in a tailored jacket?

Please help me. It will be a spring wedding.

If anyone has any more general advice for dressing my sort of body, that would be great too. It’s depressing me that clothes just aren’t made to fit me, never mind look good.

The other thing to consider IS a stretch plain dress in a dark colour that suits you (dark red or similar) with a loose jacket over. Big fuck off earrings.

harriethoyle · 02/01/2022 17:09

@Mykittensmittens I LOVE 100 stars. I'm off to peruse the sale!

GalacticGoddess · 02/01/2022 17:09

Also @Mykittensmittens I am in love with every kimono on that site, I've been searching for some new kimonos for ages!!!

Oblomov21 · 02/01/2022 17:12

I looking for one for a wedding next year, none of the ones so far are quite right.
And the orange dress op linked is not available in my size.

SparrowNest · 02/01/2022 17:13

[quote Mykittensmittens]Going against the grain here (but I am a size 12 with G cup boobs!).

I’d go for a really good quality pair of cigarette trousers, maybe in a navy, and a similar coloured camisole top, then over the top put a short(ish) kimono jacket and some really pretty shoes and jewellery, the jacket/cami combo would make feeding easy. Provided the jacket isn’t too long, it won’t drown you. It’ll show your bottom half off well. One Hundred Stars have some lovely jackets in the sale at the moment. You’d wear it again afterwards too. This one is gorgeous:

I wonder about how a jacket like that would hang on me, though it’s gorgeous. What do you think about something similar but where you tie it under the boobs, or would that look worse?

I feel like I should be better at this as I did have big boobs pre-children, just not this big. This is also actually my second child. My first was born just before the pandemic though so I never really had to learn how to dress.

I’m fed up of feeling frumpy now.

This shape fits me really nicely and I'm a 34K

@GalacticGoddess

My mum has g cup boobs and always goes for wrap style dresses that show off cleavage. She always looks great!

When I had bigger boobs while breastfeeding I went for things that complimented my new shape, I don't mind cleavage either though!

On a side note. I'm always so jealous of women with slim frames and big boobs, it's my dream figure. Im naturally small busted and I hate it!

I guess we always want what we can’t have, but I’d love curvier hips and bum and a smaller bust.
OP posts:
Mykittensmittens · 02/01/2022 17:15

@GalacticGoddess that one I linked to is a ‘luxe’ one so would hang well for OPs wedding visit with the right accompanying stuff.

@harriethoyle tell me about it. I have four. Two I wear with more casual trousers and two I ‘keep for best’ Grin - they are so flattering and everyone comments on them. I wore my crane one for NYE with black skinny jeans, boots and a black long sleeved fitted top underneath.

Hairyfriend · 02/01/2022 17:16

I'm at least a G cup. I've always worn a V neck so the eye goes up and down the body- rather than left to right across the bust. I prefer 3/4 arm to cover bingo wings and also balance out the top half. Spaghetti straps just look dreadful- like a string holding up a watermelon!

I agree with the idea of separates. Either slim trousers and a colourful, structured top, or a longer, full skirt and blouse. Like a 50's skirt that flairs out, but gives you a small waist. Or something like this

Even thought its a spring wedding, unless it was on a beach or very informal, I find your dress just too casual.

Ohmycron · 02/01/2022 17:17

I type a message and it’s gone I think.

Mykittensmittens · 02/01/2022 17:18

No OP don’t tie it under your boobs!!! You’re just going to make your boobs look ginormous!! Fitted trousers with that draping over will really show you have a lovely waist and legs, they don’t really cover your bum. They are SO flattering. They drape not drown. And they waft when you walk!

Way more stylish than a wrap dress.

SparrowNest · 02/01/2022 17:20

@Ohmycron

People who look good at weddings are not people dressed in things never normally wear, they’re people who dress in styles that they know suit them , in fab colours that go with a complexions and spend money on having their hair done and cool accessories that people will talk to you about, like nice shoes. Love the kimono idea with a silk plain vest or tee under. Super chic
I suppose I don’t really know what that is for me now. Since I had my first DC just before the pandemic I’ve worn t-shirts, leggings or jeans and big jumpers. In summer maybe a midi skirt and t-shirt.

I’m not sure what the luxury fabric version looks like, because the stretchy jersey is necessary to fit me on top.

Basically, I’ve not had to figure out how to dress since having kids because of the pandemic. Now I want to feel good again.

I had bigger than average boobs before, but I would maybe need to buy things one size bigger than otherwise. This is a whole different ballgame.

Wtaf. I’ll try again.
Is a mint velvet dress. I’ve got two, one more glittery than the other. But v useful. Happy is it to lend it to you for the wedding but I am a 12 to 14.

WTAF LEGGINGS? 😮 you. Stop that nonsense.

SparrowNest · 02/01/2022 17:24

Again, thank you to who everyone who has replied! I’m going through all the links and bookmarking + making a note of ideas.

It’s not just this wedding, I need to relearn how to dress in general. After my first baby my boobs did shrink after a while, but to an FF cup, so still disproportionate. My mum’s boobs stayed large after having children so I’m expecting this is it now.

I don’t really go anywhere other than the park and toddler groups lol. This is what I mean though, I really would like to look nice.

I was 28 when I first got pregnant, I’m almost 32 now and even without the changing body I feel like I’ve aged out of a lot of the styles I used to wear. Skirts too short etc. Also, fashions have changed a bit over the past few years.

Spaghetti straps were terrible on me even before the extra boob growth.

Same. Awful on big tits

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/01/2022 17:37

A great wrap dress in proper fabric that you can wear again? And get it fitted properly.

SparrowNest · 02/01/2022 17:40

I just feel really pissed off that the majority of clothes on sale are never going to fit me and never going to look good. It feels really unfair.

I’ve been fantasising about learning to make clothes and alter patterns to fit but I imagine it takes years to get good. And with a toddler and a newborn god knows where I’d find the time. I can barely keep on top of bare minimum cleaning and laundry.

OP posts:
waltzingparrot · 02/01/2022 18:09

I'd go for separates. Trousers that fit and a jersey wrap top with an obi belt.

Clymene · 02/01/2022 18:14

Separates. A blouse from bravissimo and a skirt or trousers.

morepatiencerequired · 02/01/2022 18:25

I am your shape. I have one boob 2 cup sizes smaller than the other, and I buy 32gg to try and fit them both. I recently went to an event in this dress (but different colour), in a size 10 (my bottom half is usually an 8). It is made of a stretchy slightly neoprene fabric which didn't show the lumps, my broad shoulders look good with the one shoulder fit and the asymmetrical dress meant that I didn't have one boob overflowing on one side. Would something similar suit your day?
