To dye or not to dye? Greying hair…

I know this is a regular question but I keep going back and forth so looking for opinions!

My original hair is very dark brown and curly (if you’re into types, I’m around 3a). I’ve been going grey slowly since my teens, I’m now early 30s and finally reached a stage of very noticeable grey. It’s hard to say for sure, but I’m probably something like 70% dark, 30% grey? It’s not uniform, some parts are concentrated so I have a section towards the front which is majority grey/white.

I’m not bothered by going grey, I’m used to it, the issue is that I’m now definitely in the space of having two colours of hair albeit still majority dark. It can break up the appearance of my curl pattern and can make my hair seem ‘messier’ than it is.

I used a semi perm dye in the summer out of curiosity (some remnants still there but mostly faded now), I did like having a more uniform colour but I really can’t decide if I want to go into that long term! I read so many people saying “Don’t dye!” these days and the thought of having to constantly dye it is tiring. At the same time I feel it looked better dyed because of the uniformity.

All thoughts or tips welcome!

I stopped using dye a good 3+ years ago and let the length keep growing .
It is now just below shoulder length and cut every 3-6 months

I have some of those Superdrug Wash-Ins that Cobra posted , not used them yet . My hair is mid brwn/grey full length streaks .
I got the blonde/strawbery blond/chestnutty ones ( they were on offer ) so I'll see what I fancy trying .
If it goes Pete Tong , it'll wash out .
I've done a patch/skin test a while back , not a strand test though

I’ve just turned 50 and have embraced the grey and I absolutely love it (and am regularly complimented).

I started dying my long hair circa 10 years ago. The problem you will have is as more greys appear you will need to root cover / re-dye every 2 weeks and personally I became sick of being a slave to the dye).

When lockdown happened (and I used to have my hair coloured at an Aveda salon) I was ‘forced’ to embrace the grey and I just got on with it. The transition wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

9 months later…. I had my hair cut into a funky pixie cut and bought an expensive red lipstick. I’m now completely dye free and absolutely love it - personally I think I now look younger as my hair is styled and the grey looks like natural highlights (and I live being dye free and not putting all those nasty chemicals into my body every month).

Personally I’m not a fan of older woman with a monotone hair colour which clearly isn’t natural. I say go for it!

My short wavy hair was mid-brown. I found the first grey hairs around my temples at 14. But now the mixture of white and brown makes me look a very bright blonde. I wouldn't bother dying it but make sure the cut is as good as it can be.

@ISpyCobraKai

It's this. I use it once a week, absolutely smother my hair and leave for an hour. You can just use as a normal shampoo though and it will add a subtle hint of colour.
@wonderspread

Do you put it on dry or when wet please and how many shampoos until it comes out again?

Thanks

Dry hair.
I've no idea how long it would take completely because I've never done it, but I think if you'd just used it once then probably 3 or 4, depending how well it takes in the first place.
If you aren't sure, then just use it as a normal shampoo, you won't notice at all at first as its so subtle.

Thank you, I will have a go with this.

I would love to see the result of the honey blonde superdrug conditioner if anyone could post a pic as my hair is growing back after medical treatment a strange combination of darker and lighter/ashier.
