If you're peri/ menopausal what do you wear to bed in winter?

I'm fairly sure I'm in peri. I've also lost weight recently meaning I'm more susceptible to feeling cold than I'm used to some of the time especially in the evening, but going to bed in my heattech leggings and heattech t-shirts and waking up sweaty Envy (not envy obviously...)

What's the solution/ best option? Do I have an excuse to buy silk pyjamas?

Keep looking for the size you require here. Eventually you will get a bargain seconds.
For info mines a autumn/winter king size that I got for £90

I did a lot of research on these and silk filled. These came out on top for me, but do your own research cos it's a lot of money to get it wrong.

Vest top, shorts, heavy duvet but fan on right on my face all night.

Higher tog duvet and sleep naked; much more comfy. Or 2 lower tog duvets if you require instant temperature adjustment.

Honestly, if you are having hot flushes so badly that they are disturbing your sleep, then it's probably time for HRT. You can fanny around with fans and silk pj's as much as you like but HRT will stop the hot flushes completely.

Knickers and a baggy t shirt. In the winter I put a heatholders (Amazon) fleece blanket over my duvet. I can’t wear long nighties or pj bottoms, they get all bunched up when I turn over.

Some woman aren't suitable for it though, so have to fanny around with fans etc.

Very few aren't. But yes if it's impossible then as I said long cotton kaftans were a saviour pre HRT.

I'm on HRT, still get hot flushes, just not as bad or as frequent. HRT is a life saver for me but its reduced symptoms not got rid of them completely.

I bought an alpaca wool mattress protector - it goes under your bedsheets - and has made a big difference to night time sweating. When/if it gets worse I'm going to investigate a wool duvet it's made so much difference !

I sleep naked, but I know what you mean about wet sheets - but the wool mattress thing has made a big difference.

dgirluk · 22/11/2021 13:17

(Naked or I just stick a normal t-shirt on, usually one my DH has outgrown / shrunk in the wash - if I've got chilly shoulders / top half).

You can get silk that is harvested after the caterpillars have left the cocoon.

I have had silk pyjamas since my 20s, though mostly I wear nothing. I think natural fibres (whether bedding or clothing) is definitely best. But I sleep alone, so my room and bed are all set up for me and no one else.
