I can't stand them. Why not just layer? Can people not manage to put a shirt on then a jumper.

'Take two garments into the shower? Not me, I just dress and go!'

yes they're very low-paid-clerical-staff-i-shop-in-next

morningpaper · 13/12/2007 14:24

How are you supposed to WASH them?? They are usually white shirts with dark coloured vest tops

nailpolish · 13/12/2007 14:24

it IS to reduce bulkiness

wouldnt wear one myself but then i dont work in a office

I had one when pregnant -white shirt with black cotton jumper & yes, the shirt bit quickly became grey in the wash.

I was good for the bulkiness factor though.

mindalina · 13/12/2007 14:27

I have one...

I bought it because it's pretty

And morningpaper you use the non-fast colour wash thing.

zippitippitoes · 13/12/2007 14:28

yep next seems to have cornered the market in these and maybe shops that i have walked past like bonne marche

u touch somewthing and think hmm not bad and it is all connected in to something else

OP posts:
mindalina · 13/12/2007 14:28

Oh hang on ignore me cos my shirt bit isn't white anyway, it's stripey.

morningpaper · 13/12/2007 14:28

I don't understand about the non-fast colourwash thing

what is that?

My mum keeps buying these for me; no doubt I've got another one for Christmas. Though I notice she never wears them herself. Hmmm.

I don't particularly object to them; they're easy enough to throw on when you're not up to much.

flowerytaleofNewYork · 13/12/2007 14:29

Sorry mindalina and anyone else who wears them. I am in a f$*&^%g awful mood today and it's nothing to do with fake layering...

happystory · 13/12/2007 14:29

I (very mistakenly) bought a sweater with a 'pretend' shirt underneath and the sweater part was just so damn itchy it was obvious it NEEDED a real shirt under it and I ended up having to wear a thin Tshirt anyway which kind of defeated the whole object.

Never again I say. there is no need for their existence

zippitippitoes · 13/12/2007 14:30

but isn't the poin t of layers tpo er keep warm

if u want lack of bulk then wesar a necklace

OP posts:
morningpaper · 13/12/2007 14:30

hmm I don't mind the look of them

I have seen a few and liked them

But they do seem like the sort of clothes that a stripper would wear

LoveAngelGabriel · 13/12/2007 14:31

I admit: I owned one of these last year. I hated it at the time I bought it (it came from a cheap and nasty shop, too, I admit), but I was desperate for something 'officy' looking for a bit of freelance work I was doing and didn't have a separate shirt / sweater, or money to buy. (Hangs head in shame). They are vile, I know.
