Do you get Botox?

Lindor2828 · 08/11/2021 11:34

If so, how much do you pay? How often? How many areas do you get? Would you recommend jt?

I'm 33, not a fan of the forehead lines I can see appearing...

Yes and I love it. Late 30's... did have very deep '11' lines even with a resting face (my whole life really).

I pay £210 for two areas ('11' lines and further across my eyebrows so my eyebrows look lifted and it also clears crows feet completely.)

I've had 2 sessions so far with each lasting around 4 months. It still l
looks natural as my face definitely still moves but I look lighter and fresher than I have done since my early twenties. That and a decent routine using a night time retinol.

hairypaws · 08/11/2021 11:44

I pay £165 and it covers my forehead, crows feet and frown line at top of nose. I now get it twice a year but originally got it 3 times a year. You don't need it as often after a while as your muscle memory reduces in those areas. I've been getting it for about 10 years (I'm 51) and never had any mishap/issue with it. I don't go for the frozen look, my person wouldn't do that anyway, but I definitely looked more refreshed when it's newly done.

ArabeI · 08/11/2021 12:53

Approx £200 for one area, not including the consultation fee.

I don't have any static lines or wrinkles, so just wanted a light touch and didn't need a top up at the review. Nobody has noticed, even family and close friends. I can move my eyebrows so it's all quite natural.

I think it does make you look more rejuvenated somehow and would recommend.

ArabeI · 08/11/2021 14:14

And I only tried Botox, for the first time, just a few weeks ago. At the clinic they said it usually lasts around 3-4 months.

shivermetimbers77 · 08/11/2021 14:17

I paid £180 for one area (11s) and it did almost nothing (I guess the lines were too deep, eek!) so I haven’t bothered again yet.

RainbowCrayons · 08/11/2021 16:02

I get forehead and 11s about every 6 months. I've found not only do I look better but I get far fewer migraines too. I'm 30s so only go for a very light touch but it just changes my whole face in a subtle way.

Gigia · 08/11/2021 16:56

I love it. I pay £250 for two areas - cross feet and forehead. It looks very natural and I have it twice a year

Whatinthelord · 08/11/2021 16:57

I’m 36 and been thinking about Botox.

Anyone know how to find a safe place and how risky it is (eg are there common side effects).

Nanny67 · 08/11/2021 16:59

Hairypaws where do you go?

Isabelle70 · 08/11/2021 17:58

I have been having it for about 5 years every 4/5 months or so in 3 areas, 11's forehead and crows feet. I pay £340 with a doctor.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 08/11/2021 18:04

I don't get it yet but have you tried Retinol? I went to my dermatologist and asked about Botox, and she suggested starting with prescription strength Tretinoin first. It is a miracle worker. 4 years later I still haven't started on Botox because the retinol's working so well.

I'm 34 and I swear it stopped time at 28.

Practicebeingpatient · 08/11/2021 18:14

I pay £350 about every 4 months. I have it in my forehead to raise my eyebrows and drooping eyelids and make me look more awake and around my eyes to soften the crows feet.

I've been going to the same doctor for a few years and never had any problems until last time when she obviously nicked a blood vessel on one side which left me with a most unsightly black eye for a week.

Whichsideareyouon · 08/11/2021 18:18

@Lindor2828 I"m in my early 50"s , I have been having Botox since I was 32. .I have my forehead, 11's , crows feet and more recently a lip flip with gives me a great result. I get a very subtle result and people always comment on how well and rested I look.

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 08/11/2021 18:34

I have had it done once. It did get rid of the lines on my forehead, but it didn't rock my world tbh. You really need to be bothered by the lines I think. I am not! Was worried about eyelid droop for a couple of weeks after I had it. I also had some mild side effects (a bit queasy and tired after I had it). You have to avoid some things after you have it. And it's reasonably expensive (I paid £250 for two areas). So, for me, looking at it logically, the expense, side effects and anxiety of having it outweighed the benefits to me personally.

Don't expect your life to change basically. Sounds obvious, but I'd seen so many people raving about it that part of me believed it would really make a big difference, but it didn't.

Alice909 · 08/11/2021 19:46

Yes, although only once so far. I’m 35 and I paid £260 for 2 areas, 11’s and forehead. That was in July and I have another appt booked for the end of the month

Chippymunks · 08/11/2021 19:49

It varies from £200 to £275 every 6 months. I get lines on forehead, elevens and laughter lines done.

DanceAllDay · 08/11/2021 19:57

I’ve been thinking about this for months now. I’m 37 and think I look well for my age (still get ID’d), but I’m very aware of my lines and two which run vertically above my nose (between my brows) - is this what you mean by 11’s?

Delatron · 08/11/2021 20:11

I’ve dabbled. But as another poster said it’s not the be all and end all in terms of anti-ageing.

For me it wore off quickly. 3 months. I think there are many signs of ageing on a face (think sagging/uneven tone) Botox will only address one area.

I also found it shifted the wrinkles elsewhere. So when I had crows feet done I developed more lines under the eye (which look worse IMO) have seen this in friends who have Botox. No crows feet but lots of lines under the eye. I think crows feet look better! I also developed lines just under my eyebrows from trying to frown and not being able to.

That being said I may try it again. I think it’s the icing on the cake maybe after other treatments. So I’m looking at radio frequency, I have profhilo, had a bit of tear trough filler.

I think Botox when your face is beginning to sag slightly looks a bit incongruous. It becomes noticeable that parts of the face don’t match. You can get away with this more in your 30s perhaps.

Delatron · 08/11/2021 20:13

I’m 45 though and didn’t try it until 42. Maybe if I’d have started in my 30s I’d think differently.

Notonthenewrug · 08/11/2021 21:30

I'm 35 and been having Botox for a year. I pay £250 for 3 areas but I have several areas done; 'elevens', forehead, bunny lines, below lift, crow's feet and under the eye. I wouldn't be without it now. I do find mine only just lasts 3 months but I refuse to get it done more than that due to the cost.

Claudia84 · 08/11/2021 21:48

Mid 30s and been having it since about 32 I think on my 11s. I constantly frown even in winter lowlight...
First went to a well known skin clinic where they have drs/ nurses administer it - I got the impression it was DRs sometimes doing it as a bit of extra private work. They were good and had no real issues apart from the second time just didn't seem to last.
Prefer to now go to a specialist aesthetics who did a really good consultation beforehand. You want something that asks about your eyebrows so knows the way the Botox will affect all the muscles on your forehead- not just the ones you want to freeze!

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 08/11/2021 21:50

170 for one area (11's) in Hertfordshire.

It has massively improved my static lines, and it works best if you keep getting it done. Doesn't often show the best results until after 2nd or 3rd treatment.

I go every 3 months or so, but you can go longer once you have had a couple of treatments.

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 08/11/2021 21:52

I'm 37. Started having it done at 35/36

maddy68 · 08/11/2021 21:55

Yes have it done every few months. It's brilliant

WouldBeGood · 08/11/2021 21:58

I got my first a couple of months ago at 52 as I had developed a terrible frown line during lockdown. It’s brilliant. Very natural. I went to a doctor recommended by a friend and it was £180 for two areas. I’ll definitely go back.
